Patches getting absolutely annihilated by the Giant Skeleton right after trying to trick the player is the funniest thing I've ever seen in this game.

"why does this sword work now?" Those fire-throwing guys in the Catacombs were resurrecting the skeletons nearby. Killing the casters first will prevent the skeletons from getting back up if you don't have a Divine weapon. Once you reach Pinwheel, there are no more casters, so the Divine weapon isn't necessary anymore.

Patches getting bashed off the ledge by that skeleton made me spit my dinner out 😂 kinda poetic in a way.

Hi!! You can get Nito's sword, my favourite of the game, in secret ahead 37:18 but only before killing him. This hole 31:40 is a shortcut to Pinwheel and also leads you to a blacksmith. There's something good there 34:36. If you jump off 53:27, you can find some npc's... It's a pitty, you don't know patches true nature. Happy that you are having fun, see you in the next episode!

That Patches stuff made me laugh so fucking much. That was crazy. Also, not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but 20 flasks is the maximum number you can have by kindling. There's also some kinda important stuff you missed in the Catacombs.

I remember the first time I played Tomb of the Giants, I couldnt see anything and was astonished by how dark the place was. I thought it was and still is one of the toughest areas in Dark Souls

Normal weapons, like the Zweihander, can have regular upgrades to +15. I recommend that you upgrade it! It does slightly more damage than the Black Knight Sword, has better moves, staggers enemies more easily and can be used with Pine Resins.

The skeletons in the Catacombs are being resurrected by the Necromancers (Those guys who shoot fire) If you don't have a divine weapon, you have to kill 'em all to stop the nearby skellies from coming back. That's why your sword worked fine on the big ones in the Tomb, because no one's down there to keep bringing 'em back. Those adorable baby skeletons before Nito just respawn endlessly on their own, making them perfect for farming souls and humanity.

I gotta say it's really impressive how you pick your way through areas like these without dying. I utterly SUFFERED through here.

Ah, Bonewheels… Now you might understand why some of us were surprised that you got off so lightly when you encountered a few of them in the Painted World. In the Catacombs, they are a royal pain in the butt; sometimes literally. 😆

Patches is a running theme in fromsoft games, usually crafty or simply untrustworthy/evil and usually looks the same (bald/pointy faced/cheeky voice), so you were right to be wary of him. He was the spider NPC in the lecture hall in Bloodborne. Him getting absolutely destroyed by that skeleton and knocked off the cliff had me rolling 😂😂😂

Great work Amber! It's a shame Patches died the way he did because what he does to you is so iconic in this game. But oh my god I lost my mind laughing when that happened, it was so damn funny! Where he was standing is a drop down, some items and there's another special NPC questline down there that is one of my favorites for how tragic it is. Tomb of the Giants is very tough but you brute forced thru like a champ and 1st tried Nito! well done.

I always use the light spell you can buy from the woman you save from the hydra, it lasts a decent amount of time and has plenty of charges for a run of the tomb.

The amount of time you spent JUST around the corner from the bonfire, which was RIGHT by your souls was painful. So many times you were headed straight for it, and I was like "yesyesyesyesyesNOOOOO" as you turned around and went up the hill instead.

Yup, a really good sweep. New players can never be expected to find everything on their first play-through of Dark Souls anyways. Too many branching paths/decisions to be able to do so. The important thing is enjoying what you did end up experiencing.

After getting past Pinwheel, you no longer need divine weapons until the boss fight with Nito. You don't really need them even then but they help to take care of the 3 skeletons who can be very annoying.

Those little egg crabs are called Vagrants and they show up under very rare circumstances to do with dropped items in other worlds. Theyre so rare that in my humdreds of hours in this game ive only seen one. The fact that youve seen two in your first playthrough is insane.

The Necromancers (the fire throwing clerics who run away from you) are the ones who reanimate the skeletons. Great Job figuring out The Rite of Kindling! Brilliant! Amber you are very brave in the dark AND going back for The Skeleton Wheels! Your brain clearly can distinguish Game to IRL. You recognized The Great Hollow, as well! The zweihander is great. The heavy attack crushes enemies to the ground and you can attack them again as they're standing up. It would take a lot of upgrading to make the damage at all competitive with the black knight sword though.

So, as others have no doubt tried to explain, you can upgrade your weapons beyond +5 at the blacksmith. Go back to Andre, and select Ascension, the large ember will allow you to upgrade a weapon from +5 to +6, then you can upgrade that weapon all the way up to +10. You'll need a bigger ember to go from +10 to +11. Normal weapons can go all the way up to +15. You could also make a divine weapon, but you've already done the catacombs, so its not really needed. Just a note, special weapons like the Black Knight Sword and the Silver Knight Spear only go up to +5 anyway, so they're already maxed out at that point without needing a special ember.

Blindly feels through the Tomb with just a lantern, without fully knowing about skeletons and necromancy, without a fully upgraded divine weapon, drops boss souls after walking ten meters past a campfire… somehow manages to accidentally kill Patches, get his stuff, get the souls back, sweep the big box o’ giants and the big bowl o’ babies no sweat, and *one-and-done Real Fuckin’ Neato.* New players are insane and blind playthroughs are a cavalcade of shock and awe.

Welcome back to Amber running past enemies and paying the price. The biggest problem in this episode, is that she never got to know the necromancer mechanic. So she thought she had to use the silver spear on all skeletons.

I can't believe Patches has been so unceremoniously killed, she lost one of the longest running jokes in gaming history

There's still more to explore in the catacombs, including a new blacksmith and an npc in trouble to rescue. There's also an npc invader that appears when you're human that will drop an unique item. And a word of advice, always put the item discovery ring on when fighting black knights for higher chance of getting their weapon. You fought 2 knights in this episode with weapons you do not have yet which are as amazing as your sword, actually even better. Don't worry about Patches getting killed by skeletons, that was his karma for all the people he tricked, he got what he deserved. 🤣

I'm so glad you decided to give the Black knight sword a try on the big skeletons. I was really concerned you'd assume it wouldn't work and would have to use the silver spear rather than 2 shotting everything! Imagine fighting those skeleton dogs and not being able to kill them in 2 hits - it's a nightmare!

That was a really fun episode! (Yes, including the section spent in heavy armour: I didn't find the character's speed in it to be an issue at all.) ^_^ Wow, that second runthrough of Tomb of the Giants, searching in the dark against dire foes for a trove of dropped souls, was so very tense! o_o As for the final boss of the episode: Hey! A Gravelord! Neato! :P Also: Well done on both bosses, I do feel! ^_^
