Seath destroyed his own immortality crystal that was amazing! haha

Seath the scaleless was born after the start of the first fire, so he was born after the start of the disparity. He had no scales, so he betrayed his species due to the envy he felt, and he told Lord Gwyn how to kill dragons. Then, Gwyn made him his Duke and gave him all the knowledge in the world. Seath started studing the crystals, with the hope to replenish his missing scales, but all that knowledge led him to madness. His experiments created a lot of suffering monsters, like the butterflies in the cave or the "slime things"... which... were once women, who were transformed into their current form, likely the result of one of Seath's experiments. if you kill them after stopping the music, you can hear a woman's scream

That weird donut thing is something to do with miracles, can't remember exactly what causes it, i think there are a couple miracles that have a chance of leaving one in someone elses world and it gives you a boost to miracles you cast near it, a little useless to be honest. Happy birthday!!! When you go to the fire area after Blighttown and Queelag, make sure to check under the second bell you had to ring for an illusionary wall. It's a really easy spot to miss that you really don't want to miss.

Great episode, really enjoyed it! Just a tip (someone else might have mentioned this before): the Grass Crest Shield is an excellent shield--but not for blocking. Usually it is used only if two-handing a strength weapon for the stamina regen as it does not have 100% physical block and has low stability (uses a lot of stamina when blocking). Good shields for blocking would be the Balder Knight shield, Heater shield, Black Knight shield, or Silver Knight shield, to name a few. Also, upgrading most shields will increase their stability which is definitely worth it if using a block 'n smack playstyle. :) Cheers!

Amber, don't let Logan fool you - he's really just there to meet Jesse with the RV so he can cook more of that blue crystal. :p With regards to the magic availability question, it is true you get spells bit by bit over the course of a game. However, the games all tend to give you ways to build up a basic collection quite early, and then finding more later on just becomes part of the fun of exploration. In addition you will still be able to use weapons effectively, just maybe different ones. :)

btw Amber, you should check the cave behind where you killed the Hydra in the darkroot basin again. then go back and kill the blue golem at the beginning again.

Fun fact: the shiny thing in the boss room actually makes Seath invulnerable. He lacks the scales that make Everlasting Dragons, well, everlasting. So he sought a way to achieve artificial immortality and ultimatley found it in that crystal. Luckily, you baited him into breathing all over it and destroying it. Lol

Speaking of LotR, "Anor Londo" is elvish for "Sun City/Haven." Also, your Luck stat must be 99, because you get all the rare drops without even trying. It's not fair.

Happy birthday, Amber! The little glowing circle thingy at 5:30 is called a resonance ring! They have a (quite small) chance to appear in your world in the same spot where another player used a miracle in theirs. Standing close to one boosts the power of your miracles, because you're calling upon the shared faith of your brothers and sisters across game instances! It's a fun, but very underutilized, way of differentiating miracles from the other main types of magic with game mechanics!

Seath's tail was the Moonlight. The "donut" where you just seen it is Resonance. If enough miracle casts of a certain type are used close by online, one of those appears, strengthening those very miracles. If you have the Artorias DLC. You'll need a drop from that crystal golem in the beginning archives for a key item.

The donut on the ground was a miracle synergy. It is onlline effect. When one player casts a lot of miracles in one place this appears in the worlds of other players and boosts their miracles.

That run to Seath is a great incentive to beat him quickly! lol BTW you should go back to the lake in Darkroot Gardens, where the hydra was, and go past the waterfall and right to the back left corner. There's something you can do there, then kill the blue crystal golem again near the first bonfire in Dukes Archives. It's all linked to the DLC.

EVERYBODY hates the crystal cave! The worst part is, especially the first time, there's no way to figure it out without a LOT of trial and error. And DO NOT worry about that distant item you missed. That way lies madness. (And the reward, if you somehow manage to reach it, is only good for wizards.) Let's put it this way: At least all the other invisible bridges are more or less straight lines. By the way, if you're looking for Big Hat, remember he wanted to go read. Apparently he has good eyesight, because he found himself a really dark corner to hide away and study.

One thing I like about late game Dark Souls that I don't think many appreciate (which is understandable, in that they are kinda "designed to be annoying"), is that by that point it is likely that you have the combat system under your belt enough, that the challenge shifts more towards the environmental side (the darkness of the tomb of the giants, the invisible paths of the crystal caverns). Those invisible paths may be frustrating, but I just love how legit *scared* they make me. Dark Souls 1 is peak "you are trespassing in a world that wasn't made for you"

I have a close family member who has a birthday on August 8th! She is also a tough Fighter! Your actual recorded time in the Cave was only about 30 minutes, though you did edit out quite a bit. I spent hours in that cave my first go around. I did have A LOT of Prism Stones and I played offline, no messages. though there is a developer message at the beginning to help. Overall that area is ASS. GREAT job spotting the "curse", in Seath Bossroom. You have a sharp eagle eye!! Great Job with Seath! His tail does chop off, yet it is one of the trickier tails to chop. It is a magic Greatsword. Well Done! With the combination of gaming skills, HONEST narration and your awesome perception, your playthroughs are VERY entertaining! You are authentic, brave, smart, persistent and you have a bright white aura, around you, Thanks for Sharing!

Happy belated Amber. I was always really glad that FromSoft brought back the kidnapping/wake up in a prison concept from DS1 in Bloodborne. This was a great twist (as much as it may have annoyed everyone in both instances).

you're not alone in hating the crystal cave! i think it's one of the worst places in the game and one of the most miserable run backs to a boss in the whole series really good job getting seath down on your first go tho! you unintentionally figured out the first part of the fight by accident so you didn't have to deal with that luckily lmao, one more lord soul to go!

When you play dark souls for the first time you wonder why all the npcs giggle with various amounts of insanity. After a while, you wonder less and less. Traversing the invisible bridges, Amber remembered a deep voice: prithee, be careful. and don't you dare go hollow.

Great work completing Duke's Archives and defeating Seath FIRST TRY! that crystal cave is another one of those zones that can really break people, I remember falling SO many times there. There being invisible platforms blew my mind though 1st playthrough, such a bold choice and level design by FromSoft. Big Hat Logan had to be let free prior to defeating Seath unfortunately, and his quest leads to tragic results.....but you do get his Big Hat tho! Also, like most of the dragon bosses in the game, Seath's tail could be cut off and provides a weapon, the most iconic in the Dark Souls series, the Moonlight Greatsword! No worries though, great job Amber!

So I don't know if you're interested in the DLC, but likelyhood of stumbling upon it is pretty low at this rate. You'll want to do it before adding all the lord's soul into the vessel. To start it, remember the Hydra in darkroot basin where you fought Havel? You went down this long area that didn't have anything at the end. There is something there now. (was a case of needing to restart the game for it to appear much like you was doing for the titanite lizards.)

That weird donut at the start is exceedingly rare-it appears when multiple players in the area are using miracles, and buffs your miracles when you’re near it. The feature is actually bugged due to netcode errors, so most of the time it just never shows up even if conditions are right. Lucky you for seeing all these rare things on your first playthrough 😉

As tough and annoying as these areas could be, I always loved their crystal aesthetic! Kinda like an ice/snow level that isn't actually ice. Very soothing...aside from impending death everywhere 🙃

I _think_ that that ring you saw was a miracle resonance sign. Some miracles are supposed to resonate when cast, strengthening the effect of miracles that other players cast in the same area. I don't know if it works as 8ntended. I've only seen a small handful of them.

If I remember correctly, that item you spotted all the way on the other side of the crystal cave is past a zig-zagging invisible path, the only invisible path that's not just a straight line. And the item you'd get is a blue titanite slab, which is technically very rare and valuable but also completely useless for this character since they're not a sorc.

She went to every corner of the archives (and back to firelink lol) before finally finding the warpable bonfire.

Great job!! The crystal caves truly suck, but the Seath fight itself is fun as long as you have some Curse defence, otherwise it sucks as well, haha. It is in fact possible to cut off his tail, but IIRC you can't cut at the base of it; instead you have to go for the tail proper, which when cut off will reward you with the Moonlight Greatsword (a weapon that appears in every Souls game as well as in Bloodborne).

The little white doughnut thing you saw was a miracle enhancer. I can't remember what causes it, but I believe it's linked to Way of the White covenant and/or Princess' Guard, when one of their members is casting, it'll leave those in other players' games, and let you boost the powers of miracles you cast while standing on/near it. Not 100% sure since I don't think I've ever cared about them, and it's been a long time since I've read through the wiki.

So for anyone doing the crystal caves, you can use the prism stones like amber did, or shoot arrows at the floor in front of you to see if there's a valid path.

In the dark room you didn't like is where big hat logan goes after you free him to slowly lose his mind reading Seathe's writing/research. If you complete Logan's story by purchasing all of his magic's he proceeds to hollow and go mad, ambushing you in just his Hat and Catalyst in the room where Seathe originally kills you in. All of the naga / tentacle monsters in the clock tower are maidens Seathe has had the 6 eyed channelers kidnap so he could experiment on them. The two cowering in the corner aren't as far gone and that's why they can be heard sobbing, let out human screams when you kill them and drop Faith/holy spells. Also why there is one watching over the fire keeper soul in the church above Firelink, they were going to kidnap her for experimentation but Lautrec killed her before they could do it and that's why he is locked in a cell. You didn't notice based on how things happened in your play through but the shiny thing in Seathe's boss arena is what Seathe created with help from Gywn to grant himself immortality. The thing he coveted so just much he betrayed the other dragons for. Also pretty sure Priscilla from the paint world is Seathe's child. Half dragon half demi god/deity.

Before you fought the Four Kings I noticed you got a rare drop from a Dark Wraith ... The Dark Hand , that can be used as a Shield and a Life Drain like you saw them use. You should check out your weapons inventory and see it looks like Red Hand Glove . .... Also wanted to mention later in the game in the DLC you will be able to help SIF and have Him aid you in a boss fight if you want!
