#babyregistry
It’s not typical to have a baby registry for the second baby, we usually have kept everything we knew we’d want to keep, but more so, we know we don’t need EVERYTHING in fact, the things we think we need our baby may not work. We’ve learned that marketplace is the best place to buy because “used” usually means about 3 months used.
However, there are a few things that I needed to re-buy or I needed for the first time (think carseat, double stroller if you’re going for that, baby camera etc.
Otherwise what I’ve found is MOM needs all the things to repair!
I hope this video gives you a few ideas for what to ask for or put on a baby registry for your second baby!

Almost all “big ticket” things I needed I got for waaaaaayyy cheaper on the marketplace or hand-me-downs. The bouncer, Moses basket and stand, swing, dresser, Snoo, side tables, a TON of clothes, cloth diapers, Ubbi pail etc. It makes a huge difference in cost.

Hubby and I are going to start trying soon and so I love these kind of videos from simplistic/realistic moms. I was also a nanny for 10 years and know that kids are simple beings and as long as they are Nurtured and loved, they’re pretty content (save toddler emotional moments 😂). I didn’t nanny newborns but did nanny 12+ month olds. I feel like once I get to the toddler stage I know kinda what the heck I’m doing, the newborn stage freaks me out a bit 🤣

We're currently trying for first kid so way premature for this but anyway. Your back pack for your daughter reminds me of the doggy back pack (K9 sport sak) we have for our cavalier king charles spaniels made me smile

Ironically you answered a question I wasn't expecting answered. I'm nursing (alternating) on one side and using the haskaa on the other because I'm building a stash for when I have to work. But now with all the formula shortages happening I'm actually considering donation if my supply will allow and I think my current method (especially after what you just said) might actually help with that. So 3 minutes in and already grateful I picked this video

Guys, even less than most of this. If you have a healthy baby as most moms say, 1. care for yourself (especially make sure you have some sort of support person or people the days after birth) and baby basically needs 2. a place to sleep (which, if you forget can just be your bed, or a floor matress) 3. something to keep them warm (clothes, onesies/footies are easiest depending on your location and season and blankets) and 4. a place to lay them down on the ground comfortably (such as a playmat, or if you just have a fluffy carpet that you don't think is too toxic, then a good vacuum to clean it) 5. some situation for their GI removals (are you trying elimination communication? cloth diapers?) 6. health and hygiene products (you will want some just in case - something to lower temperature for example, and some that you will use more frequently such as nail trimming supplies... thermometers are imo useless, you either get the rectal ones you don't want to use, or the unprecise ones by which you might as well just feel them with your hands) really most things are just nice to have extras. And then there tend to be several variants of the same nice-to-have item, so sure, try multiple and try getting them second hand and move them on if you don't want them. I'd also strongly consider a nursing setup either a *proper* nursing pillow, or perhaps a chair? Your back will thank you :)

And for everyone excitedly expecting or trying for a baby, good luck! Some things you can do while you wait are: 1. take care of yourself, get your body ready! If still possible work out, eat nutritiously, spend all your budget allows for good solid food, don't forget probiotic things such as acidophilic milk and yogurt to support gut bacteria (and your newborn's gut bacteria if they come vaginally and you don't have streptococcus) 2. read up! Educate yourself about all that you will want to have known (because there will be less time than you probably anticipate) Learn all about labour, different interventions, so you can make informed decisions. Learn all about different parenting styles to see which one you want to try. Reflect on your own childhood and think what you want to do the same or differently. BLW, 3. CLEAN UP. Declutter. Minimalize. Organize. Can't stress this enough. With the baby's arrival there will be an influx of things you actually need and can't really omit. Babies thrive in organized calm environments (and your post-partum self stuck at home will too). If you have struggle letting go of things but have the luxury of having a place to store them, store away as much of what you don't need. Cleaning up will be much easier. Optional things 4. Get some courses done. You might like getting a baby first aid course or some parenting lessons. 5. Find likeminded communities and people. You can already find moms in the waiting rooms for your doctor's appointments, or in exercise groups, but also on social media 6. Sweet diy projects. Do your own mobiles, artwork, patch blanket, create lists with foods you want to learn how to cook one day (it may come sooner than you'd expect)

I have my first baby, she’s three months, and had a good amount of things bought before she was born. My neighborhood just had a garage sale day, and I got so many more toys. I have two more play gyms, for instance, and having some more places to put her to entertain herself in different rooms is so helpful. They were cheap anyway.

Shayla girl, don't feel bad about the SNOO. It's incredible and was a lifesaver with a 3 year old and a newborn. By the time she was 3 months old, baby #2 was sleeping through the night with the SNOO. My youngest daughter is 9 months old and is an incredible sleeper now, well after being in the SNOO from day one through to 6 months. Sublime sleeper: daytime naps without blackout curtains, quit the pacifier at 6 mo., and stopped the sound machine at 7 mo.. I will say, she rarely did naps in the SNOO but slept in there every evening > even when we took a week long road trip! Transition to a crib in her own room was also a breeze. I know this reads like an advertisement but it's almost as if this magical machine taught my daughter how to sleep beautifully. We rented and returning it was quite easy. My family and I talk about the experience fondly to this day! 😂

We ended up with so much stuff with our first because he was both the first grandchild and first baby in our friend group. If we have another all I'll buy for baby are some more nappies and wipes, some new bottles and back up parts for the pump, and maybe some formula and a few extra clothes if they're born at a different time of year. Everything else will be for me, and if I have another C section I won't need anything because I have it all already! Newborns really don't need a lot.

The hack I found: Don’t buy a video “baby monitor”, they jack up the prices on them. Big a security camera or dog camera and use it for the baby. I got mine for $20

I have a registry, first babe is 4 and will be almost 5 when baby is born. The registry is mostly for us to organize and to get the discount on items. At least 10 friends have asked if we are having a shower or what they can buy. We decided a laid back “party” but it’s not gonna be a shower or sprinkle really. Basically just a celebration for baby that all our friends can come hang out. Gifts are welcome but not requested, and I won’t share my registry or request anything specific unless people specifically ask for it. I like the diapers and wipes ideas, but we cloth so I don’t need that either.

With bottles, I find babies aren’t all that particular. If you just introduce one kind of bottle and none others, they don’t develop a preference.
