The plaintiff says he rented garage space to the defendant, who still owes him money. He’s been dodging the plaintiff for months, so he’s being sued for the outstanding amount. The defendant says the plaintiff is a strange guy who’s making stuff up. He denies owing a penny.

I've learned so much from Judge Milian. I'm working with a vendor right now - using a *"verbal"* contract. I immediately sent her a text recapping the conversation, terms of the agreement, and agreed upon amount. She responded with a confirmation. I did exactly what Judge Milian beats into our heads.

That's so cool that she responded to you. I attended only 2 years of law school, but have learned so much more from JM. If I have contractors work on my house or mechanics on my car all I ever think about is, 'What would JM say about this deal? How do I be fair to others yet, still, cover my ass if they're not fair with me.'🥰🥰🥰

“He’s the one who needs to grow up, but that’s between me and you”. Methinks there may have been a little more going on between these two than they’re willing to talk about on camera. I can’t see him letting some clearly irresponsible college dude use his space without a lease, with no promise to pay, and with all this tomfoolery, unless maybe there were some other exchanges. I’m always leery when I see an older person doing business with a much younger person, and letting so many things go though they’d have no business reason to do so and have the experience not to do it.

Plaintiff is a mechanic with a full workshop/garage and all kinds of tools but he tries to come across like he needs to hire a journeyman electrician to wire a simple outlet and a master carpenter to patch a hole in a plywood floor. Riiiight. Glad the judge didn't buy that line of crap either. He was trying to nickel and dime the kid to death to “teach him a lesson”? What?? Just because he's older doesn't make him any wiser. Sounds like the kid was the wise one to get out of there.

These two sides are a joke. What right or ability does the plaintiff have to teach anyone else any lesson? He rents space and equipment to people without paperwork or contract. Nice doesn't mean not doing thing by the book. You can have paperwork and be nice. The defendant is like all the letigents who say, "they never gave me a receipt!" Why is it only their responsibility to give you one? How do people do business like this? What world do they live in?

I agree with the judge about this entire case, EXCEPT about the security deposit. Plaintiff is absolutely 100% lying about the security deposit; go back & listen to his very 1st response when answering the judge on that subject. Perjury! Judge should have given the defendant the security deposit credit, which would zero out both claims.

I think the plaintiff is a bold-faced liar when it comes to whether or not the defendant gave a deposit, why did he hesitate the way he did and kind of dance around the question? If he knew for a fact that the defendant gave absolutely nothing for a deposit he would have just directly answered the question, I'm not saying the defendant is blameless but I think the plaintiff knows if he answered honestly he would have walked away with nothing or almost nothing, he knew that there was no proof so he blatantly lied to the judge and then tries to school somebody on being a man gave me a break.

@@ct6410 Someone who is lying might stare or look away at a crucial moment, says Glass - a possible sign they're moving their eyes around as they try to think about what to say next. That can be one signal of deception. But if the person always does that, then it's not going to be an indication of deception. Regardless of that, remember, these people are on video chat.
