The signs were just put up at tax payer expense by some petty minded and vindictive Councillors in Preston. Interestingly the boundary changes back in the 70s meant that Blackpool Borough, at the time, were the only Rugby League team in Lancashire with the rest in Merseyside or Greater Manchester. This, of course, should have meant that 'Borough' would have won the Lancashire Cup each year without a contest!

@@andymoore9977 Interesting observations Andy, and I can believe the signs were erected because of the motives you describe. Lancashire is an old historic county and the "fake county" boundaries created in '74 are just that in my book. Administrative divisions created at the stroke of a pen by politicians. Sadly, the broadcast media and local government have encouraged the recognition of these places as counties in their own right over the years, so people eventually accept what they are spoon fed. Unless you've been around for a while as some of us have and know better. Then I'm a traditionalist as you might have gathered.

You can't go that way because the new multi story car park is in the way. Instead, take usual route, but turn right at Bloomfield Road then left at the lights onto Central Drive.
