Unearthed from the 2010 Meltdown's Kate McGarrigle Celebration tapes comes this rare fusion of rehearsal and performance. It's jagged and intimate and shamelessly emotive rendering that I feel captures the complex moment where Kate's family and friends via commemorating her artistic and human gifts shared their love and found solace. It's culled from a rediscovered one-camera rough cut that I shot and edited in 2010 and thought was lost. Until tonight...

This song, sung by Rufus and Emmylou, is on the CD "Sing Me the Songs: Celebrating the Works of Kate McGarrigle," Disk 1, released in 2013 by Nonesuch Records. Like the others who have commented here, I love it, too.

First time i heard this song,was by a documentary about Anne Frank,i started crying😢 beautiful song.

Saw in Stereo Review that the McGarrigles' "Heart like a Wheel" was the best album of the year. Wow, then bought everything they put out. This song was devastating. I went to see them play at The Roxy in Hollywood with someone ,who could not comprehend their beauty, but no matter, the two sisters knew I loved them and they acknowledged me for that.
