Fun fact: May the 4th is not only Star Wars day, but also Rabbit Hole day as it's the day Alice fell down the rabbit hole. She tells the Caterpillar that it's the 4th, and then muses that the hare won't be mad, because it's May. It's also Alice Liddell's birthday.

The attention to detail leads to such a beautiful result. My sewing level is very beginner, but even I can appreciate the careful stitching. The customer is quite lucky to have such a treasure (I hope it shipped with cleaning tips!) ❤️

I absolutely love that you actually spend so much time researching how to make something. Its not like "ok I like this dress on this photo, I wanna make it-ok I made it" it seems like you spend hours on the pc researching details, watching videos or emailing creators for information :-) also I love your sweatshirt!

I really want to make this dress since I have wanted to make a casual late 1860s dress that would be suitable for a sunset barbecue or for a ball. Although I might use a wide black lace trim in place of the embroidery because I can't afford an embroidery machine or have the patience for doing it by hand.

Oh my God. FOR REAL BELLA?? My gosh this has been my favorite dress of yours 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️. Thank you so much for the pattern. It’s a gorgeous dress and I’ve been waiting for a tutorial for this from you. Thank you. 💗 Last year I attempted to make this dress. The bodice had a wonky closure but I used all of my skills and I think I have visited your blogspot at least 70 times before doing it. I had a hard time with the chiffon I used and I remember I bought an embroidery machine JUST for that project!! The skirt I’ve never finished and just like you I ended up with an un-finished Alice dress. This video id making me hyped up for making It again!

I'd recommend you add an additional tier to your Patreon. I don't care about any extra or exclusive content (don't have the time) but want to support you, except I don't have a lot to support with and many whom I would like to! My total Patreon budget is $10 per month, which I know is not much and I would love to give $1 a month to 10 creators rather than just 2 or 3. If you had a "just support" tier for $1 I'd definitely become a patron. You might be surprised as it could add up if there were other eager but meagre fans.

It's probably too late to tell you this now but you could very easily crochet both those types of lace. I have crocheted lace many many time, you can make so many patterns and you can make exactly what you want. It doesn't take as much time as you might think and it's easy and it's definitely wayyy more cost effective

Hi Bella-Mae! I'm half way through and this whole thing is making me smile so much. The bodice is so dainty and quaint and pretty. I just wanted to ask before I forget...did you have in-person fittings with your client? How did you adjust the pattern pieces? Using pure measurements? Or did you pad out your dress form to your client's sizes? I am a self taught sewist and am branching out into custom gowns and corsets...I'm curious! Thank you and much love from the UK
@BellaMaesDesigns
@BellaMaesDesigns 2 жыл бұрын
Aw, that's fun to hear! No, I don't do in-person (and really never have!). I usually make a mock-up with their measurements and then often I sent them that to have them do a fitting (basically by themselves, but with some guidance from me.). When I don't do that, yes, I pad the dress form to their size and work with the measurements!
@WheezyCatLady
@WheezyCatLady 2 жыл бұрын
@@BellaMaesDesigns Aww thank you so much for taking the time to reply. This is a great help! I've been tempted to send mock ups to people before but worried we wouldn't be able to navigate making the markings we'd need for adjustments from a distance. Your replica of the dress is incredible. However, your replica of the gloves baffle me. Why did you add the three large accessory buttons? They are not on the original gloves. While I imagine you choose to use snaps, and where you did, to make it easier, I don't understand the three accent buttons. -Unless it was your own signature piece? But it is not a replica of the orginal, and I thought that's what this piece is.
@BellaMaesDesigns
@BellaMaesDesigns 2 жыл бұрын
There are actually 3 buttons on the gloves, thought they are a bit smaller and probably shell, I had a hard time finding the photo that showed the buttons. They had a similar design to the ones on the gloves I have on in the photos (the first gloves I made.) But I couldn’t find the same buttons, so made do with these. But yes, there are buttons on the original movie gloves, just not as noticeable
