I think June Bug & Willow are two of my absolute favorite pups on youtube. I think you summed up the Hellman's vs MW perfectly. MW is a dressing, H is actual mayo. MW is good in salads (coleslaw/broccoli slaw) and a few other things, but when it's a sandwich or for french fries, it has to be Hellman's. Also if you like breaded baked chicken, forget the eggs, use mayo. Your chicken will ALWAYS be tender and its a lot less messy.

Hey Russel, great content and fun watching the dogs too and that nasty rain that we all seemed to have not escaped. Funny thing about MW and Mayo. Our family was full on MW from when I was a boy and I swore by it. One day, my sister was coming over, and she is allergic to MW, so, we used Mayo, and from that day forward, I found that I preferred the Mayo. Its my goto for the past 15 years now, and for burgers, Mayo and Ketchup is da BOMB as far as I am concerned. We use it on salads, sandwiches, making garlic dip and shawarma sauce. Cheers

Hey Russell, great video as always!! Love watching Willow and June Bug having fun. I prefer mayo on any of my sandwiches, in my potato salad, cole slaw, macaroni salad...and it has to be Hellman's. Maybe because that's what I grew up with. You're right Hellman's does have an eggy taste, I've tried other mayo but they always had an off taste like something was missing.

Glad it was only your foot that got wet - you should take a walking stick with a steel point with you on the ice, so you can test the path in front of you. Cold winter temperatures are very hard on batteries, especially, if you're only using it once a week. Best thing to do is getting some quick release pole connectors and take the battery to your cabin, keeping it warm and fully charged. Look up the manual first, some cars don't start, if disconnected, as a means against car theft. Second best option is a jump starter, but you have to take it with you. I never had issues with my electrical system - even on a brandnew car, first thing I do is spraying every single connector one by one with motorcycle chain grease, keeping it from corroding for many years. Stay safe, warm and dry

Hi Russel, I’m a new subscriber. That was pretty scary falling through the ice, be careful. I had a FJ Toyota and traded it for a car (Camry) my dad was able to get in, I had him live with me once he couldn’t take care of himself. It actually hurts to see one, I sure liked that sweet ride and miss it terribly.

What do I do on a rainy/snowy day ? Watch some guy in Canada talk to his dogs, fall through the ice, go to Subway, not get a new battery while in town. It's Mayo over MW. And for those that don't know, Hellmann's Mayo is sold in the east side of the US/Canada and on the West side of those countries it is called Best Foods Mayo.

Battery current capacity is dependent on temperature, more so in lead acid car batteries, You might want to get a small solar trickle charger to keep your vehicle battery topped up for when it is parked in the cold for extended periods. On the mayo/miracle whip question. There are many things to combine with either for salad dressings and sauce bases if you have ever tried, someone asked me years ago if I ever had a peanut butter sandwich with mayo and thought it sounded odd until I tried it,delicious. Check your alternator with a meter you might need to replace it, should read 13 14 v if its doing its job, dont let peeps talk you into starting and then taking off a wire to see if it dies (would be a bad alt if it does) . but its really not so good for todays electronics. stay safe thanks for the vid.

Definitely you need to increase you solar array ! I live in the Top of Carpathian Mountains in Romania 🇲🇩 with my wife and kids.....so i made a compromise a big solar array but i use Led Acid batteries it cheaper but i have manny of those to have 21kw max power and soon i will increase the number of Fotovoltaic panels i have a stream of water i intend to make a hidroplant to ! And for mobility i have a small flotilla of ATVs ,UTVs , Snowmobiles, dirt bikes ,chickens ,turkeys, vegetale garden.....😁

Miracle Whip is by far, the best choice for me, it has a more tangy taste to it. It is my choice of condiment on anything. When I get a Subway, I always get the Italian BMT with everything except Spinach and I get oil and vinegar on it. A tight fitting pair of gaiters will help if you go through the ice.

Russell speaking as someone in Southern U.S. I'm gunna say you need to try "Duke's Mayonnaise". It's a "salad dressing", spackle, industrial sealant, and building product. Great stuff!

Whew, Russell, that took me aback for a sec. Glad it wasn't worse, but sorry your hike got cut short. I do enjoy seeing all the different conditions of the trail, and weekly scenes in your little paradise. Each scene is a little different, never boring. I put both Miracle Whip and mayo in potato salad. I gotta have MW with tuna salad, it seems. Chicken salad I do mayo, tho. Anything with mustard requires mayo, as MW is too tangy and overwhelms it. My mom's go-to Fried Chicken Dinner salad was lettuce, tomato, cukes, salt, pepper and MW, not bad at all. Cole slaw needs mayo with cream and sweet pickle juice. My son claims to need either side of a BLT to have one of each. He's right!

Beaver ponds are bad for unpredictable ice especially around their lodges. My brother stopped by one while skidooing and right next to the lodge he slipped into water waste deep. We snowmobiled to a patch of woods and got a fire started to warm and dry him out. On top of that the snow is usually slushy with melt water and you have no idea how much ice is underfoot.

My best solar here in Sweden was 22.5 KWh in a day (February)... Short days and the angle of the sun is very low.. I live up on 59 degrees so it quite up north. But I have a lot more panels than you have on the cabin... I have 93 panels of 360 W each. So if all calculations are correct I will create 27.500 KWh a year from solar.

Wool socks stay warmer when wet. Always carry an extra dry pair. Carry fire making stuff to DRY clothes in an emergency. And a small portable saw. May save your life. You need a new battery. Betcha that old one is more than 5-6 years. They go. You likely have a screw in your tire tread. Get it a patch/plug job done. Address the rust issue on the FJ, especially the rusting rear end. No wonder it won't open, tho frozen locks happen. Next shop visit specifically ask they lube engine hood and cargo gate latches/joints, they will not do it even on a "lube."

Hellmann's mayo!!!! My hubby grew up with MW and me - mayo. After we got married we have used mayo. He tried to eat MW one time and didn't like to taste any more. Thanks for sharing. We got the warm temps and rain on Wed. then temps dropped and we had ice. Glad you only got your foot wet. God bless.

Hey Russell, growing up we used Miracle Whip for everything; sandwiches, egg salad, cold slaw, everything! After I got married my husband insisted on buying Real mayonnaise instead. But at first I didn't like the Real mayonnaise, so we ended up buy both. Then one day didn't have anything to use on my sandwich except the Real mayonnaise. I used it and he just refused to buy Miracle Whip after that. Sometimes I still buy it but he won't hardly use it. So we mostly buy Real Mayonnaise now and not Miracle Whip. But I still like Miracle Whip too. Great video! I love the dogs! Also love where you are; that lake, or river or whatever it is. I don't know for sure where you're at, but it is beautiful. And Russ, be more careful. I know you said you carry your cellphone with you. But if you fell waist deep into water, that phone probably wouldn't work! And if you were far enough away from your place or it was cold enough, you would have been in serious trouble falling into the water. Of course, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know! But you men seem to think, one, nothing will happen, or two, you can handle it no matter what happens. Sometimes that is not true!!! My husband dives me crazy going on hikes and other stuff by himself; cellphones do not work out here where we live, and I never know where he's going! I'm handicapped and can't go with him. I worry all the time! Even though I love watching these videos, I start worrying about any of you I watch more than a couple times. Now I'll worry about you too as I have seen your videos several times now; and this time, you fell through the ice! Oh, you're made-up word was cute. It made me laugh. I do that a lot. Try to say one word and combine two together. I usually forget how I said the word later though, so I can't claim it as my made-up word! Too bad.

I am like you Russell. Coleslaw needs Miracle Whip and homemade chip dip. Mayo is great for egg and chicken salad sandwiches etc. So they both have their place when making great food dishes. One thing I do like about Hellman's is, they do make a no cholesterol mayo that tastes awesome. Don't want to know what thy use in it instead of eggs as I like it a lot. It is called Hellman's Vegan Mayo with a blue label.. Cutting cholesterol where I can leaves room for the barbecue steak :) Be careful on that ice now Spring is on it's way. Love the barbecue chicken in February. :)

Russell I'm so glad you weren't injured when you fell through, glad you made it home without freezing. Did you get a new battery for your vehicle? I didn't notice. On the Miracle Whip and Hellman's taste test. Miracle Whip is a "salad dressing" whereas the Hellman's is just mayonnaise. Miracle Whip is actually sweeter to me. I grew up on the stuff but switched as an adult for the flavor. I will use Miracle Whip in one or two pasta salads but I usually just keep Hellman's and I would never use Miracle Whip in my potato salad ever again. Not after using real mayonnaise. Let us know what you decide.

I use both, it depends on what I'm eating as to which I'm using, american cheese sandwiches I use MW, turkey, beef, chicken, tuna, sandwiches l use mayo. MW has a more tangy flavor. Dips I use either one, onion dip mayo, vegi dip I use MW. potato salad I use mayo, coleslaw I use MW. Neither lasts long here we eat lots of sandwiches 🥪 and kinda slather both sides of the bread.

We had Miracle Whip in MI, never Mayo, until I moved East. Never Mayo on a Hoagie (ital sub) or Miracle Whip. Oil & vinegar, onion and cherry peppers on the sub.

I fell through the ice on a river trying to rescue my dog, he ran after ducks and slid off shelf ice. I crawled out to get him and the ice broke. Anyway we got out safe man I was cold. Yup that's scary when you go through. Your lucky Russell.

Google building a wood duck nest box, build one and put it up on that broken tree coming out of the ice you show with the dogs at 32.00 while you can still walk out there. It will give you good subject matter for filming from the porch if wood ducks (or something else) nest in it. Nice job!

Hello, I was hoping that Willow hadn't scaped her belly when she got stuck on the tree at the beginning... I have two dogs and one of mine did something similar and had a graze.. it's nice and relaxing hanging out with your vids..love 'em, but I admit I do get scared when I see Willow and JB on the ice. I've never been anywhere like that so I'm unsure of it. I love seeing W & JB running up the tracks too.🐾 Re: car...when my car battery went flat my mechanic started it off but said it needed charging on a good run before it was stopped to restart again, otherwise just that quick start alone doesn't do enough he said. Having an FJ myself I just find myself glad that I've never ran into the same problems with the battery. I would love to see you so a review of the item Wizard used to start the FJ. Not sure I've ever seen that in Japan but will definitely look for it. Love your videos!

Miracle Whip is mostly oil, Mayo is mostly eggs. Also Miracle Whip adds spices and Mayo typically has less. Both taste good, can basically be used for the same things although one will taste better with some things while the other will taste better with other things. It comes down to personal preference.

Lucky for you too fall in with only one foot would have been worse if both feet. Glad your okay and for your test, I personally can have either one and be happy I guess some will swear by one or the other but to me does not matter. Have a great rest of the week.

Oil spray next spring Russell - That truck can last 4x longer than the salt can chew on the chassis. 2 sprays next year (April May and then one August) and then yearly after that.and you should get another 10 yrs out of it if not more

Just healthwise... although I like Hellmans ok ... it usually is made with soy. If you can get mayo based on avocado oil, that is considered to be a healthier choice.... also it tastes REALLY good.

Miracle Whip and Mayo mixed together with cubed potatoes, diced dill pickles and eggs make a great potato salad. i usually use less MW so its not so sweet.

I asked my current Ineri class please question how long is the test is best and they said make up make up a potato salad cut it in half and do 1/2 with miracle whip and 1/2 with mayonnaise let them sit for a full day and then test them because there’s exorbitant and someone but that way you can actually taste the flavors not just of the oil basically an egg of them I think they’re good uses that are different from each other like there’s a cake that requires miracle whip and I’ve tried it with mayonnaise and it don’t taste right

Grew up with MW and liked it fine. Wife was a Mayo girl, now I'm used to that. Either is fine with me. A lever action ey? Love lever actions, and have one or two.. :D Falling through the ice, went both legs in to the waist once, got out easily, walking home a half mile in low temps wasn't fun, my jeans were frozen solid.
