I did this to my 04 polaris ranger tm. Same motor as yours and so far so good. Definitely feels like the fuel is right there and hasnt spit or sputtered like it has before. "I did clean the entire fuel system and carb numerous times before this attempt" Good idea! Thanks

I cleaned as well with no effect, but the electric pump did the trick.

Yep those diaphrams are junk! 2 of my other buddies did this after I did mine with great results. Had mine on for 1 or so years, and it just gave out. Picked up another from autozone ready to go again. Just get the lowest fuel psi pump they have. I load mine down with logs, and take it through the woods, up hills, across creeks, and back to my to truck. Also have a curtis enclosed cab, put on larger tires and a 2" front lift. Perfect cruiser or workhorse. Take it everywhere. Just thought I would add what I am working with.

It works. When your retired you look for projects to do, this is one I needed to do.

Exactly right. I grew up on a farm, so learning how to be a mechanic was a must.

Do you have video on how to clean the carburetor on this model.

So did you route the fuel bypass back to the fuel tank?

I have a 1999 ranger and it seems like the fuel pump is ok but whenever I take it on a downhill slope it runs rich and sputters, when it's uphill it runs fine. What would cause that?

Thanks for this video. I've got the same model.Have you had any problems with bushings up front falling apart? Front end clanks like I'm banging metal rods together.
@gregbrooks35773 жыл бұрын
My Series 11 shed all the bushing on the front. It was fairly easy to fix.

I fixed on my Ranger TM and did the bushings myself. Bought from babbits.com just make sure to clean inside tubes really good. And put bushings in the freezer 1st, then they will slide right in.

I did this exact same fix and it runs great but I have a steady flow of fuel from a small tube at the lower back part of the engine while it's running. Any ideas?
@j3ah0o2 жыл бұрын
does that small tube come from the air filter side of the carb? There should be 2 brass nipples that allow excess fuel to dump out. Over pressure to the carb will cause a purge from those ports. A pump with bypass might fix that, or route the tubes back to the tank so you don't waste that fuel, if it is significant amounts

My 13 year old Polaris Ranger has gotten sluggish when its cold I don't know if that's the problem but I will give a go.

If it has a vacuum pump, it probably is, sorry it took me a year to reply.

Did it work?

Interesting. My 2002 Ranger has an OEM electric fuel pump, much like the one you put on yours. Wonder why the factory decided to go with a vacuum type in the first place?
@johnwingrider68745 жыл бұрын
My thought exactly.

I believe this was the base model and they went cheap on it.

How do you regulate the fuel pressure?
@johnwingrider68745 жыл бұрын
The pump is designed not to overload the needle valve in the carb., it works perfect.
