It would have and if I remember it was at the time that people were criticizing Disney for doing the opposite in the Marvel films with Ant-man being the one people pointed to. Also that Disney was being to controlling with properties and having a checklist with Marvel movies. They went hands off with the first two and it went as well as anyone could hope.

Fully disagree. The Original Trilogy had a different director for each film I believe, or perhaps just the last two. The issue wasn't different directors, it was that the directors they DID pick value very, very different parts of Star Wars. If either Rian Johnson or J.J. had creative control over the entire trilogy, either version would be fantastic. Different directors wasn't the problem, lack of a cohesive vision between those in control was. And even then... they're still pretty good films. Rewatched them recently, they're much better when viewed as a whole story. The sequels are, in my opinion, legitimately as good as they could have reasonably gotten with the distorted visions at play. Would still love to see Trevarrow's script adapted in some form, however. Sounded neato.

@@CryingCreeperMLG Story wise I think J.J. and Rian Johnson were more cohesive than people give them credit, BUT Stylistically they are very different. Both of them clearly know how to build off the work of other writers/directors/creators, but just because one can build off another's story does not mean one can replicate their style. Also, Imagine how much better TROS would have been if Carrie Fisher hadn't passed. You can tell going the only directive they got from corporate was that when focusing in the legacy characters, they each get one film each as a spotlight: Ep7 was Han's (probably b/c it was the only one they could get a commitment from Harrison Ford), Ep8 Luke's, and Ep9 was intended to be Leia's with the Grand Finale.

Change 1: Start by writing a complete outline with a beginning, a middle, and an end set before starting to film... Change 2: Hire continuity checkers and listen to them. You're building on a series that has been expanding for decades, therefore you do not have complete creative freedom. Change 3: Respect what has come before. The past is not an obstacle that needs to be torn down, it is your foundation. This is probably where the sequels lost the most longtime fans including myself. (On a side note: respect doesn't mean making a carbon copy of what we have already seen) Change 4: It's an entire galaxy, not a city. The chances of running into someone you (we) know on accident are... astronomical. Change 5: Hire people who love the property, you'll never satisfy the fans without passion.

Step 2.5: Hire the same director/producers for the entire trilogy, and if not possible at least other directors that have the same or similar visions of where to take the audience on the journey (rather than hiring 2 different directors with completely different ideas, then rehiring the original director to make band-aid fixes after the backlash received).

All very important changes, but I want to re-emphasize Change #2. Once the work has been done to create the intellectual property, its tone, its rules, and its history, you making a story in that world obligates you to play nice with what came before. It's definitionally the foundation you chose to build on when you decided to make your story in this world someone else made first.

My biggest problem with the sequel trilogy is that I simply don’t think Luke would ever get that close to murdering his nephew. He decided to spare his father’s life even tho Vader had done innumerable terrible things at that point, so there’s no way he would decide to kill his nephew because of mere visions?! Also I don’t think any decent person would seriously consider that either. Luke almost killing Ben is the catalyst for Ben’s entire character arc, leads to there being no newly trained Jedi in the trilogy and turns Luke into a grumpy old man who has rejected the force. You can’t have that impactful of a scene be that out of character. The solution? Just have Luke expel Ben because he fears him becoming too powerful. This could lead to Ben being all alone and being led to the dark side by Snoke or something, and doesn’t ruin Luke’s character

This would have been a much better solution. They could’ve easily had Ben feel abandoned by Luke and resent him for it, and even given snoke that hold over him by taking him in and offering to complete his training. Could have had him leave Luke’s students alive too, give up the self exile Luke did, and still keep most of the story elements and themes from the ST without it seeming far fetched for Luke’s character

The problem with the sequel trilogy is that it’s just not cohesive and feels like the visions of multiple people who had different ideas for what Star Wars should be. Say what you want about the prequels it was from the singular vision of George Lucas. Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams are pretty much polar opposites when it comes to their directing style. Johnson likes to subvert expectations and deconstruct, while Abrams is all about nostalgia (to a fault). It doesn’t mesh.

Super agree! I’m kinda sad that Rian probably won’t do his own SW spin-off movie or trilogy. He would’ve thrived with more creative freedom. With the middle episode of the mainline trilogy, you are kind of boxed in to what you can do. You kinda have a responsibility to honor the promises made by the first film, plus stay consistent with what was established by the legacy trilogies. It didn’t play to his strengths.

I personally believe that one of the main problems is the size of the first order. If it had been smaller and not a full on empire, then the fight between Ben and Rey could be much more personable, meaning that galaxy's future would not be at risk, and their relationship and character development could be the main focus/plot. This would (in my opinion) fix the plot holes of the sequels and the fact that they ignore the previous movies. If the first order wasn't an empire already then it would make a lot more sense with the ending of the original series. And if the main focus was on the characters and not the war it would be a new and different storyline, instead of just another light vs the dark (whic there is nothing wrong whit it just gets a littel boring in the long run).

Yup, it seems like they didn't know how to write a the story to create a scenario with compelling stakes, so they just copy paste the super powerful empire vs the rebels despite the fact that this dynamic doesn't make sense anymore for the Universe. The First Order absolutely could have been a really effective underdog terrorist organization that makes up for their lack of raw fire power with terror tactics and stealth, but I guess they were scared of trying something new with the franchise.

First of all Kylo with a white lightsaber would be straight up awesome!! However I also think it would be important to address Anakin as the chosen since they got Palpatine back and connect this final film to what came before. Therefore I’d probably have force ghost Anakin show up instead of Han after Kylo’s battle with Rey, but to make it a bit more epic I’d have him show up as Darth Vader. It would be something like this: Kylo/Ben would be at his most confused/conflicted which would perhaps be expressed by a scream in a moment of rage, but suddenly the scenery would change and he would be on either a dark fiery planet like Mustafar or on the Death Star and we’d here Vader’s voice beside him say something like “My grandson, you’ve disappointed me”. When Ben then turns around we’d see Vader ignite his red lightsaber and move towards him. After a short battle where Ben would just be desperately trying to block Vader’s powerful strikes, Vader would unsurprisingly prove to strong and Ben’s lightsaber would be knocked out of his grip as he falls on the ground. With Vader above him just about to strike we’ll see Ben cover his face and then suddenly the scenery changed again. This time Ben is on Tatooine as he sees a little boy (Anakin) with his mother, this sequence would then become like a montage where Ben gets to witness crucial moments from the saga. It would go from him seeing like Anakin’s happy moments with Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Padmé to then him being manipulated by Palpatine and turning to the dark side, where we’d for example see the end of his battle with Obi-Wan and the death of Padmé. Then we’d move to some iconic moments from the original trilogy, where Ben would see his parents together with Luke and ofc the moment when Luke spares Vader which then leads to Vader “killing” Palpatine. And finally we’d go to some short scenes from the sequel trilogy mostly focusing on his parents, perhaps the moment when Han dies and maybe also something with Rey. After that we’d here a voice (Anakin’s) saying something like “don’t let him/Vader win” (I couldn’t come up with anything less cheesy) to Ben. Then it’s suddenly back to the fight with Vader again and just before Vader’s saber strikes him he stops it with the force and pushes him away. Ben then gets his lightsaber and the fight continues, but this time the roles are reversed and Ben is the one pushing forward. The fight quite quickly ends with Ben cutting Vader’s mask in two. Then he’s finally back at Kef Bir and force ghost Anakin shows up to provide some motivational words of wisdom where he explains how Palpatine also took advantage of his anger and confusion and how the dark side consumed him. I’d prefer something like this over the original since it would both honour what came before and it would still give some more importance to the prophecy of the chosen one as Anakin guides Ben towards the light. Edit: I realise that this is way too long for anyone to be bothered to read it, but I just wanted to get it out lol

There are multiple problems with the sequel trilogy but I think the one that bothers me the most is deep in the core of the sequel plot. It appears that nothing previous to episode 7 mattered. The empire fell and a new republic was created but it appears weak and irrelevent. The jedi returned but are gone in episode 7. The characters we follow have either not improved or they have degraded. The universe is filled with plain worlds, desert and loneliness. There are no jedi temples, no artifacts, no cultures. The galaxy don't even know what happened in return of the jedi, they don't know that Luke existed. This is by design a reboot of the series, so vague and open to interpretation that it is completely uninteresting as well as insulting. The sequel have no soul for that reason. They are the result of Star Wars being obliviated.
@colinfinkel7587
@colinfinkel7587 2 жыл бұрын
Precisely. Everything that the Original trilogy accomplished was destroyed by the sequel trilogy in order to make another episode 4. This includes Han+Leia, Palpatine's death, Luke's arc, destruction of sith, establishment of the jedi and the republic, and probably more. One notable solution is to employ the political dynamic of the Thrawn trilogy where the Empire are a moderate insurgent group at the start but grow in power over time. The republic would be unstable and still growing and fraught with political disagreements, making the heroes still feel like underdogs as it's hard to depend on the republic.

I agree, the sequel trilogy should have been the next step after the empire has been defeated instead of a reset. Only in the flashbacks in TLJ do we see the fall of Luke's jedi order and only in the books do we see the regression of the galaxy back to a new Sith regime. If we had had more movies to see that transition and establish a more comparable threat like Thrawn or Palpatine's clone rather than Snoke and lame TROS Palpatine, the reboot would have worked. I'm sure J.J. Abrams could have made better movies with better writing but Lucasfilm and Disney ran it into the ground

Here's my idea I thought of for "fixing" the sequel trilogy: The Force Awakened was good until Rey magically could use the Force. What they should've done was have Finn, Han, and Chewie actually save her. Gave her some breathing room after her interrogation, then with the fight between them and Kylo had Chewie save them with the Millennium Falcon before Rey somehow beat a trained apprentice. Then have Last Jedi show her beginning her training with Luke, Luke actually being on that planet because he was stranded in his journey instead of in self pity for 10 years or so. Completely erase the Finn and Rose mission. Then have Luke really come and fight Kylo, but die by his hands to prove a point that no matter what happens the light will always be there. "Star Wars is like poetry. It rhymes with the movies." Have Luke die like Obi Wan did for him so that it can open up to Rise of Skywalker with Leia "completing Rey's training". Leave out the Palpatine granddaughter surprise and focus on the message that "you can come from nothing and end up with everything." Do all of this and the movies actually become good enough to rival the Prequel trilogy at least. With this new look, it would give Rey enough time to go from "lucky" to "trained." It'll give her time to accept loss and focus on being better so that she finally beat the threat of the galaxy herself. This gives her the room needed for character development and personality. Especially with Finn pawing after her and Kylo being interested. For once, I wouldn't have minded some drama between a good friend who is interested in her and the "troubled enemy" who wants to have her because she makes him feel normal. But yes, by the end have her redeem Ben, but end up with Finn to promote both biracial couples and female strength the right way. That, in my opinion, is how they could've saved the Sequel trilogy.

I don't think Rey should have been a Jedi at all - Finn should have. As it was advertised and set up, FINN was the main hero, and he was clearly Force-sensitive. If you look at the poster for VII, it doesn't look like a poster for a STAR WARS movie. Now, hold your hand over the left half of the poster, so all you see is the right half: THAT looks like STAR WARS. Rey should have just been a pilot and a mechanic, and secretly been Han's daughter that they had hidden from Ben.

The original trilogy spanned my teen years, and I don't think young people today can really understand what it was like for us. We didn't binge them - we had to wait three years between them. There weren't other blockbusters to distract us (especially in the beginning) because Star Wars sort of gave birth to the idea of the accessible blockbuster. My family didn't have cable or a VCR until after Empire. There was no internet with forums and KZfaq channels - so Star Wars existed in our minds in a way that's not easily understood anymore. I might have liked the sequels better if they weren't supposed to be part of the Skywalker Saga. This wasn't the third act of a massive saga - it didn't have enough of a through line in the story. If you listen to Dave Filoni's "Duel of the Fates" explanation (for Ep. 2 of Mandalorian Gallery), you can see where the first 6 episodes were part of a single story - love or hate certain parts of it, it was a story. But the sequels - it was like disconnecting the third act. But perhaps the biggest reason I disliked the sequels is my own fault, and I honestly should've seen it coming. I was excited for The Force Awakens, and I even enjoyed it. BUT, after I'd seen it, I felt horrible, and it took me a while to understand why. They stole my "Happily Ever After". Perhaps nothing would've satisfied me. But when I saw Return of the Jedi, I was a romantic teenage girl who loved Han and Leia...who never would've dreamed that they'd have only the one kid who turned out to be a whiny brat, completely lacking his father's charm or his mother's grace, and seemingly incapable of self-reflection. And Luke's life was...wasted. In the end, there was nothing left of them. No bloodline with generations of potential new stories to tell. Nothing. How could they have improved the sequel trilogy? They could've made it part of the same story as the other two trilogies.

TFA was disappointing in every sense of the word: they ruined Han, they ruined Leia, they ruined Luke, they ruined the Empire by rebranding it as tHe FiRsT oRdEr (although the helmets DO look cool), they ruined the Rebellion by rebranding them as the Resistance and changing their color scheme from orange to red, and they ruined Anakin's legacy and sacrifice. They ruined everything that came before, and they set out to do so. "Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to." < That doesn't sound like a STAR WARS quote, to me.

The white sabre who represents him choosing neither and taking his own path. And the best part they had this story with Asoka Tano. It would make an interesting new next phase of Star Wars where there's a third neutral option for force users. It doesn't have to always be light vs dark. The Dark Side is not an inherent part of the Force, but a disturbance within it; the Dark Side is what causes imbalance in the Force. Disney misinterpreted what Lucas meant by "balance", and they changed the canon on what lightsaber crystals are: now, they're mood rings that change color depending on the user's... feelings or some s***. I personally wish they had leaned more into the grey jedi narrative (there were hints, but it all sort of came to light and dark again) and had kept Rey a nobody (ie not a palpatine or any other major bloodline from previous movies). I also wish they had done more concrete things with Poe, Finn, and Rose's characters. I read a meta that said Finn should have left with those two spacers to the outer rim in TFA so that he could see and experience the hardship those people on the outskirts lived and that driving him to active rebellion (also, they tots should have made him force sensitive), and I quite liked that. Or have had him and Reigh train as padawans under Luke and/or Leia- that would have been interesting too. I also think Rey got WAY too much power towards the end of the trilogy and didn’t have enough of a good character similar to some other protagonists. I also feel that adding Lando earlier in the series would’ve been a good move. On top of that I feel that Luke’s character was to sassy and sarcastic, and honestly would’ve rather seen him more like Obi-Wan (the best character btw). A change I would have made is connecting the series to a major theme. There are some character beats about trauma, abandonment, shared experience, family, grey morality and redemption, but not a through-line theme across the trilogy. Playing off the redemption idea, I would have loved to see Star Wars taking a nuanced approach to the Force. Star Wars has been very intricate with its morally grey characters, but the idea that the light side of the Force is always good and the dark is always bad always seemed uncharacteristically simplistic to me. As you have explored in a couple of past videos, the mentality of dark side of the force has some good points - express your emotions, pursue your ambitions, etc. Most take these to their extreme, but still. Suggesting that neither purely dark or light is good seemed the Skywalker saga's natural conclusion based on the prequels pointing out the imperfections of the Jedi. Tell me if this is too preachy, but a suggestion that a balance of light and dark is the best way to live could serve as a subtle metaphor to dealing with mental health. Don't dwell on your emotions and give into fear and anger and be blindly pessimistic by being purely dark, but don't suppress your emotions fall into toxic happiness and be blindly optimistic by being purely light. Instead of just Rey pulling Ben to the light, Ben could also pull Rey to the dark. We've seen entities in Star Wars that use neutral force, neither light nor dark, but not really both. Force users all drawing from both sides of the force could create peace and balance once and for all - after all, a lot of the problems of the Skywalker saga start occurring because the Force tries to balance out light Force users and dark Force users. Rey's and Ben's lightsabers could turn purple (ik Windu's is purple but it's a cool idea) or orange. Idk, it seems like a wise final step the sequels should have taken. A shame that this wasn't explored this trilogy, but maybe the next (you know in 20 years' time Disney is gonna go back on their no more Skywalker movies promise by then, or if not, some other major Star Wars tv/movie series is gonna happen by then). We'll see!

I forgot where I read this but there was a fan theory before episode 9 came out that looked at the new Force abilities that are introduced throughout the series. In 3, Anakin turns evil so that he and Palpatine can try to find out how to use the dark side of the force to prevent death; meanwhile, Qui-Gon Jinn discovers how to become a Force ghost after he's dead. In 4-6, Obi-wan and Yoda learn it. In 8, Yoda can control lightning, while Rey and Kylo have Force conversations and can transport raindrops. The culmination of this, it was argued, was that in 9, Palpatine would return as an extra-powerful Force ghost and be able to defeat Rey/Kylo and the Jedi Force ghosts with all his new Force powers. He can only be defeated by someone powerful enough to return, in flesh, from the dead. And who better to do this but Anakin, the Chosen One? He is the Skywalker who rises (from the dead), he defeats Palpatine, and restores balance to the Force. While this would definitely be unfair to the newer group of characters, I still like it because this is the only fix to the sequels that tries to unify all 3 trilogies into a single story.

How to fix the Leia scene: The problem with the Leia surviving/flying through space scene is that we have only seen her with the fleeting visions through the Force in Empire, Jedi, and TFA. RoS eventually shows Leia getting training from Luke, but because we haven't seen this yet, her flying through space feels unearned. So to fix it, I would have had Luke sense her peril, immediately meditate, and then show him reaching out on the island while she reaches out in space. She drifts back and is rescued, and we see Luke exhausted at the end. The implication being that this is earned because it is Luke who would know how to use the Force like this. Or even if we go with him teaching her how to do it and her using the Force to survive, at least it doesn't spring out of nowhere. The other thing this does is foreshadow that Luke can project himself half a galaxy away, important for the final confrontation with Ren.

I agree on most of your points except the "Holdo is an effective leader" one because she's truly not, there was no reason to withhold information(and no, there was no spy in the ship.) from Poe and the crew and had she been more open and reassuring Finn and Rose wouldn't have had to go do a pointless side-quest and Poe wouldn't have mutinied(part of being a leader is knowing who you're leading). That doesn't mean I don't think she couldn't have been a better character by just adding better writing cause acting wise she was great, they should have used that time to develop Finn, Rose, Poe, and Holdo's dynamic as a group and earning each other's trust(I would have loved to have seen them bounce off each other and see the chemistry in their trust) so when Leia passed the batton they would work as an effective unit to get things moving and she'd be able to properly lead them cause she knew them and their strengths better. Also they could have added Rose to the main trio more easily since we could see her interacting with characters we already liked and are familiar with which would have been a plus.

Honestly, there are so many who would change this and that but one thing in common is that the series needed a change. Too much unnecessary fillers, disrespect to the original cast and a 180 of their personalities, superman Leia, Mary Sue Rey, the spoiler beginning credits that basically gives away the ending of the 3rd movie (I didn’t even watch the 3rd movie but a friend told me Palpatine was coming back) anyone can already guess why…

I still think its sad that Leia survived the coldness of space, but the actress who played her was taken down by a heart attack. She was a major player in the series from day one. Last Jedi might been better if they didn't have to shoot around her or use cgi to fill the void.

She completed work on Last Jedi, according to what I read. The only issue would have been if they needed to do reshoots between wrapping production and release. The main issues came in with Rise of Skywalker, as they didn’t even have a script at the time of her death.

The worst thing about the sequels, imho, is that they sh*t all over all the rest of the movies in the Star Wars continuity. Let me elaborate: At the end of Episode 6, Luke is about to rebuild the Jedi Order, Leia is going to be the leader of a New Republic, Han is going to marry Leia (and they'll probably have kids), the Empire is in ruins, Vader is redeemed, the Prophecy is complete, and the Sith are no more forever. Our heroes are headed towards a satisfying Happily Ever After. At the beginning of Episode 7, Luke has abandoned his failed Jedi Academy, Leia's New Republic has failed, Han and Leia's marriage failed, Han has gone back to being a two-bit criminal, Han & Leia's only kid has become a bad guy, the Empire has inexplicably come back even stronger, and not only is there a new Emperor (Snoke), but the OLD Emperor is revealed later not to have been destroyed (nullifying Vader's sacrifice). Even Lando has just been, like, hanging around doing nothing for decades. So to sum up: All our favorite characters, our HEROES, are now has-beens and losers. Everything that they worked so hard to accomplish has been undone. At the end of the Sequel Trilogy, all the main characters have died without much fanfare. The Skywalker and Solo bloodlines have both ended. How AWFUL. What would I do to fix these movies? First, I would make the main characters children of Han & Leia (and maybe even Luke, Lando, or Chewie). Second, I would NOT retcon the first six episodes. Third, I'd come up with an ORIGINAL plot. Finally, I would not try to outdo all the other movies.

Option A Make 3 changes: 1. Drop a hint that Palpatine might be back in episode 8 instead of it coming out of nowhere in 9. 2. Cut all the cringy moments from episode 8 like the blue milk thing, the casino, the phone call joke.... grrr 3. Kill Rose EARLY... the earlier, the better. Option B: Let JJ Abrams do all 3 movies, enough said.

The thing I would change is when the Emperor is about to beat Ray, and you see all his followers. I would make them all have light sabers. You'd still hear all the past jedi voices, but as they talk you see their light sabers ignite. The final voice would be Ben Solo, with his white light saber.

If I were magically put in charge of Lucasfilm/Disney I would announce that the sequel trilogy is no longer cannon and that we are creating a new sequel trilogy. I would pay George Lucas to write them. I would have Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni co-direct them. Then I would bring back all the archived footage from Star Wars Underworld and begin production.

I liked your opening remarks about Star Wars fans and it is so true. I hadn’t thought about us like that before and the way you worded it resonated with me. I believe you said you’ve been thinking about this for two years. I really appreciate this honesty and look behind the veil because it does require a TON of thought. Your three changes are so insightful and on point. I got excited, watching your video, my heart started pounding and I had an emotional reaction. My solutions 1. Just do the books 2. if you can't do my 1st solution use all one vision from all one creator or 3. If you can't do the 1st 2 at least use TV show, TV movie, and video game canon with in the movie canon. use Dash Rendar. use Cindel Towani. Use Ezra Bridger Use Kyle Katarn. I feel any of these are the fix we need. I also feel like it would be fun if Disney + did a Star Wars What If... series so we can see if any other writer can come up with a better story

Most of the suggested changes are pretty good and would go some distance to making the movies a bit better (I love a good redemption arc), but I disagree about Adm. Holdo. She was an arrogant and terrible leader. Poe, while also arrogant, headstrong, and a loose cannon, is also charismatic and, in the eyes of the other soldiers, a hero. By shutting him out of her plan, she set the stage for the mutiny. In the military there is the "follow orders" mentality, but there's also some amount of explanation. While in the end whatever the person in charge says goes, there is a discussion beforehand to work out the kinks and ensure all the officers are on the same page and will be delivering the same message with the same voice.
@broderickfoster2107

I think the main problem was that Holdo had no idea how someone could be tracking them through light speed, meaning by all accounts there could have been a traitor on the ship, keeping the plan to a very select few and not a pilot who already went behind her back to sanction a mission is not a terrible plan but like they really should’ve given her a minute or more on screen to make that more obvious

The Sequel has one major issue... They tried to tell the story of too many people. I think if you focus on Ben and his counter Rey, while allowing for development of people like Po, Fin, Rose, etc.; it would be much much better. The original trilogy focused on Luke and his counter, Darth Vadar... not on Han
@iminumst7827
@iminumst7827 2 жыл бұрын
That's definitely not the issue. Rey and Ben already get a LOT of focus, the problem is they didn't spend that time developing them, they often wasted scenes by treading over the same ground.

@@blakejensen1470 Yup, like there's that scene where Ren says something like "Your parents were no one they were filthy junk traders who sold you off for drinking money" then the next movie he says "I didn't lie, your parents were no one, they left you to protect you. They chose to be no one." Like... they are wasting precious time to retcon something Ren said in the previous talk. It's obvious JJ had a different vision for Rey's lineage than Rian, so they waste dialogue fighting over that instead of making progress towards the two character's relationship.

Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is definitely the most interesting character in the trilogy, and improving his arc would go a long way to improve the trilogy. However, I for one believe that Kylo Ren should go the opposite way. He should be a character that everyone, both the characters in the movies and the audience, sees as redeemable, but ultimately _refuses_ to be redeemed. Make it a story about a person with the ability to do good but willingly and consciously chooses to go down the bad route.

I like the white light saber thing and giving Ben Solo an arc that's cohesive. I think we'd address my issue, which is that Ben didn't have much screen time and dialogue before dying. I think, whether he dies or not, he needed to find a way to cross his light saber with Rey's so they beat Palpatine together.

I love Star Wars. My love for this franchise cannot be described in words. It’s been one of my favorite movie/tv franchises since my mom introduced me to it when I was 5 in 2009. I think the single worst thing that the sequels did was to kill off Luke. Now yes, I understand that they kinda had to pass on the mantle to Rey and whatnot. But still!!! He was the most powerful force wielder IN THE GALAXY! EVER! Excluding possibly Anakin. But even Yoda could use force projection and maybe not to the extent Luke used it, but still, he was able to do it. That being said I don’t think Luke would have been weakened so much by doing it that he would have died, I think they could have made him less of an op character and maybe that’s how the mantle was passed but still. Luke should have lived, he should have taught Rey, and maybe more important than all of this: Rey should have been Luke and Mara Jade’s daughter. Then the 9th movie could have introduced and older Mara to be used in future films and tv shows for more character development than Legends already gave us. There, hope you like it , hope you agree, see ya!🙂

YES! I had the same idea about Han igniting the lightsaber to prevent Ben from fully turning to the darkside. Imagine the lighting on his face is red like in the movie, but when Han ignites the lightsaber, Kylo shouts, "NOOO!". Not because his father died, but because his father prevented his transformation...and the blue light shrouds his face once again.
