Find out how I managed to fly Virgin Atlantic Upper Class from London to New York for just £625. What was the service like? And how did I get a cheap flight deal?
In this video I review flight VS9 from London Heathrow to New York JFK on 21 February 2024. The flight was on an Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

Totally concur with your summing up 👍👍. The Clubhouse remains the jewel in the crown (no doubt due to the “Gatwick” influence), on board staff are consistently exceptional, yet this is all let down by the poor on board food offering 😥. We continue to accrue points and use 2-4-1 CC Vouchers Thank you yet another superb review 👏👏

Thanks for your video and must agree, the food is generally fairly mediocre but loved your appetite, I can never quite manage the cheese & bics lol! I work hard at building my Virgin points and use them for upgrades when I can. There's a 'Bonus Virgin Points' promotion running at the moment and I'm going to take advantage of that too - every little helps! I'm really looking forward to flying again in May with Virgin UC to JFK on the A330-Neo and return to LHR UC on the A350-1000. Just hope there's no sudden changes of aircraft to the awful and dreaded A330-300, flew UC on this last October to JFK - never again!

I really enjoy flying Upper on VS. Their Leisure configuration fleet with only 16 UC seats is even better. £625 + 47.5k points is a good deal - but if anything, it’s ‘expensive’ considering the generally high surcharges which Virgin add (versus other airlines). £625 basically covers the taxes, fees and fuel surcharge. Virgin regularly offer points sales (currently 70% bonus points available on larger purchases) - we recently flew to Delhi return for £1600pp including buying all the points.

I enjoyed the clubhouse at Heathrow but top tip don't sit by the windows unless you want to smell fumes...

The lounge is better BAs club lounge, However I personally prefer BA seats I feel they will last long that's VS.

For the price you paid looks ok and probably not dissimilar to what you would pay in £s on PE excluding air miles, Virgin lounge looks really nice but food in the lounge and on board looked mediocre to say the least, no table cloths on board just a plastic place mat. Many years ago Virgin stood out above the other trans Atlantic carriers but they offer nothing out of the ordinary now and probably bettered by some. Had I paid list price for that flight I would be very disappointed.
