A new DLC has been released for EU4 and this one is a doozy! The game has received a TON of quality of life improvements, plus new mission trees for the Mamluks, Byzantium, and - most important - Persia! There are a load of new flavors for the Persia region, but it turns out if you embrace Zoroastrianism, you can unlock a new nation never mentioned in the dev diaries: the glorious Eranshahr! Say Pravus, did you forget to employ the prophet who would've given you 3% missionary strength?^^ Remember, there was an event 75% off -2 unrest guy that would've fascilitated things and gave +3% missionary strength until his death

@@svenbrede6151 He gets employed automatically through the event. TBH this isn't an actual educational video, more so just showcasing the new DLC and its features. He misplayed a bit like not converting holy sites he controls to get bonuses.

Zoroastrianism appears in that province in India (Daman) to represent the Zoroastrian Diaspora who fled from Persia after the Islamic conquests in the 7th century, and subsequently the persecution they suffered under the Caliphates. There's still around 140,000 people who follow Zoroastrianism today and the majority live in India.

My understanding was that they are still considerably less likely to do so because they consider themselves to be "at war", the logic being that they will end up in two wars if they choose to attack you.

Yes, but iirc their independence cannot be supported while they are at war, which gives +100% liberty desire, making them a real pain to integrate and also makes them a lot more confident in declaring their independence war

there is also the fact that with some conquest in key centers of trade and trade ideas you can pretty much expand the faith to smaller countries without even having to expend your zoroastrian invitations

The problem I run into is that the Muslim nations just give Dhimmi autonomy, just like they do to the Hindu provinces. You have to forcefully dismantle the big muslim nations to build up the tiny Zoro nations.

This, imo it got probably changed to ensure that Sweden would actually rebel, while Denmark is fighting Poland or the Livonian Order or some other war. Although I wonder if "support Independence" works, while your overlord is at war.

14:10 actually, missionary strength decrease seems to only apply to Zoroastrian 'provinces', which means it does not affect conversion of provinces 'to' Zoroastrianism

Hisn Kayfa should've been reworked as well and could have been a nice challenging minor like Byzantium, with the ability to revive the Ayyubid Empire.

'Our missionaries are a little on the weak side' Local Missionary Strength means YOUR religion is harder to convert not that it's harder to convert others, local missionary strength only applies once the province is converted to your religion, muslims and orthodox (and I think coptics?) have the same local missionary strength reduction.

the change in dip annexation time for sirtan is probably your dip rep changing for annexing parts of baluchistan because overextention gives a scaling dip rep penalty

I am unironically planning on finishing one of my 1.35 campaigns in 1.36 because of the QOL changes. I’ve already finished the achievements I want and I think a potentially broken game would be less of a hassle than not having auto-missionaries and mass province transfer 😂😂😂

i looked it up, Eransahr or shahr is basically the old pre-Sasanid word for the Iranian empire, Eran being the old form of the word Iran and referred to the Aryans originally but came to be more of a political identity. Eranshahr in contrast to Eran also includes lands ruled by them but are not considered Iran proper.

Eran isn't actually an old word. It's the ACTUAL pronunciation of "Iran". I'm not sure about Persian, but in Kurdish "shahr" means town or city--which I think is interesting, since Kurdish is actually closer to Middle Persian (language of the Sassanids) compared to modern Persian (which came after the Islamic conquest).

Thought I would mention if you watch from 06:40 Afghanistan’s integration can also be instant. If you start it and the immediately seize the single province that you don’t have a core on. Even though they become upset the integration jumps to 100% the next month tick and so they are integrated.

i think shia timurid successor with diplomatic ideas and malta forts could go crazy you'd have deus vult early on, but after you get imperialism you won't be worrying about diplo points for taking provinces.

I'm really glad the devs are continuing to improve the game with the recent slew of dlcs, stuff that gives a good amount of value for their asking price in my opinion. Especially giving flavor to undertouched regions from previous years and dlcs. Just really feels like the devs have their fingers on the pulse of their consumers compared to other big companies. Least imo, i could be wrong ❤

I can happen on occasion. Usually the AI will occupy Cairo and then peace out after a year or two, instead of waiting around for the full 3 years for the Eyelet event to fire. If the Turks get fought to a standstill after taking Cairo, they'll get the event and sometimes take the Eyelet.

When it was first added in Domination it was written so the Ottomans would never take the right event decisions to be able to do the Mamluk Eyalet - but the patchnotes for the new 1.36 patch say "The Ottoman AI will now try to make Mamluks to their Eyalet should they declare on the Mamluks with the right cb and occupy their capital for one year."

Culture switch tip: If you do it later (e.g. after deving renaissance in your capital or integrating vassals) you can switch to khorasan too. You don't have to be persian just iranian.
