Your videos have been a huge help in picking my setup and understanding what's going on under my feet. You sharing your craft is truly appreciated. Well Big Ben I have many mixed emotions. I’m really disappointed to hear that you injured yourself man. Terrible terrible feeling to not be able to skate to your ability. Puts a dark cloud over top of you. Stay positive we are all here for ya as you have been for us! I would like to thank you, for all the hard work you do for us. I personally bought 4 boards from the Canada skate shop and I couldn’t be happier with them, I still have two setup right now and they are jussssst at the end of their life span. Quality at an affordable price! I have a suggestion take if or leave it but if you were bored maybe you would like to do some more Skate Video history type posts. I absolutely loved them. hey ben. i seldom comment on videos but yours mean a lot to me; they've helped me a ton with skating, at the very least. watching you skate always makes me want to skate. i took a hard fall on my right knee 2 weeks ago (of course, right after the best i've ever felt on my board). it was the worst pain i've ever felt, popping and weak and locking up now even when i'm just walking. going to see the orthopedist next week and staying off my board in the interim at doctor's orders. i've been feeling pretty bummed, and even more so to hear you're injured too. i just wanna wish you a very quick and painless recovery. hopefully, we'll be back somewhere around 100% soon. i'll be looking forward to your next video, whenever it comes. thanks for everything and best, nash.

My knee used to pop when I would extend my leg after bending, one day it wasn't a satisfying pop but rather it was a gnarly crunch. That threw me into the vicious cycle of the bucket handle locking my knee, had to get the meniscectomy to take care of it in 2017 but it was well worth it! I still baby that knee a lot though, even years after surgery which has led to hip soreness, tight hamstrings, etc. Somehow I haven't been able to unlearn the behavior of protecting that knee at the cost of other joints.

Sorry to hear about the injury and wishing you a speedy recovery. Sending a big "thank you" out as well, I'm 39 and picked the board up a few years ago after a 15 year hiatus from regular skating and finding your channel was a major part of resparking the stoke. I was progressing well then rolled an ankle about 5 months ago and its just now starting to feel more normal than not. Getting back to "healthy" takes a lot longer these days and I have to remind myself to not overdo it during recovery. You're videos on progression as we age were really thoughtful and definitely kept me in a positive mindset about not being where I thought I should be skill-wise after years of not skating. That also applied to my recent injury, I found the joy in just rolling again when I could finally put weight on my ankle. Progression is dynamic and the scale can change based on where we are in life, but there's always the joy in getting to the next step. Thanks for the great content and hope to see you on here again sooner than later. Until then, guess I'll just watch your old vids on setup madness and try to find the one that defines me as a skater ;)

I thought at 31 my skateboarding days were long gone. But coming across your vids it made me wanna step back on the board again. I had zero expectations, but I can do a lot more on my board now than I could when I stopped ten years ago. admittedly since things have opened up and I started doing stuff with my band again I've skated less, but this has got me pumped to go out any opportunity when the weather's dry here in London.

That sucks bad. I saw this video last night and had bad dreams about it. I hope you have a complete recovery and don't have to have surgery. Or, at least if you do need surgery, I hope everything gets back to normal. The disturbing thing is the fact that it didn't happen from a bad slam. I'm 50 and started skating again after a good 30 years and have been watching your channel. I had a bad ankle injury back in 2001 and figured that was it for me for skating. But luckily by miracle it's actually been doing good. My front knee feels a little off. I don't know if it's what you called jumper's knee. Someone intentionally drove into the side of my leg in a car while I was cycling awhile back and it tweaked it. No crunching or anything. It just goes to show that you never know when something bad will happen. Skating is just hard on the body when it comes down to it. I've mostly just been cruising around, not do much more than carving, manuals, and ollies. I have to be careful though because I live in a hilly area and I have 63mm Mini Logo AWOL wheels which are extremely fast. It's easy to get going fast and if something goes wrong going down even not that big of a hill it could result in a bad slam. Everyday I wake up and do so without health problems, I am thankful. Get well soon Ben. But give it time to heal and don't push on it if it seems like it's getting better. And get it checked out by a doctor. Luckily you are in Canada where you don't have to go bankrupt to get medical care.

I agree heavily with your truck setup! I have a set of forged hollow trucks so they're a smidge lower than yours, but I also put the blue medium heavy bushings in them (I'm 200lbs so the orange stock jawns are way too squishy, which is a shame because they're great looking) and they ride really well. I've got them on an 8.5 with a longer wheelbase right now, but my preferred setup is an 8.25 or 8.38 with a 14.25 base. I would LOVE to see you do a review on the OJ Nomad wheels. They're 95a and come in a few different sizes, I'm currently riding the 54s at a mostly wood indoor park and I love them. They're grippy but slide well, there's some concrete sections in the park and reverts are no problem at all on these softer wheels. I'd love to see your opinion on them. I love the channel, keep up the great work!

As an adult skater I just broke my elbow and had to get surgery last week. I can’t wait to get on my board and get right back to it. I got so much crap from other people, including nurses saying “ Grow Up” or “Time to hang the board”. If the accident was riding a bicycle, I doubt I would be told to hang it up. Do you hear these comments when you get injured?

Im 37 years old and i hurt my knee pretty bad a couple of months ago. Don't know exactly what i did bc i never saw a Dr. It sucked but i stayed off my board for about 5 weeks straight. Then i didn't skate hard for another 2 weeks at least. Just be patient and don't make it worse man. You'll be good in a few weeks.

So, I am sitting my bedroom cutting out pieces of cardboard. With them I am making templates for a small 1/4 pipe to (potentially) fit in the back of my car (with removable platform). If I can get the (cardboard) sizing right, then I'll actually make it out of wood. As I was cutting out the cardboard, I suddenly thought, "OH! Ben should mix his carpentry skills with skating, and do some videos on how to make small skate obstacles for his KZfaq channel. Grind bars. Small ramps/spines. Those "ramps" fit up to/against jersey barriers. Etc. I'm sure you could come up with some neat/fun stuff.

I’m 24 with tendinitis in both knees, it’s heavily impacted my skating the last 3 years. Prior to that it was a fractured 5th metatarsal in my flick foot. Bummer, but skating will always still feel the same when I can manage. Heal up soon Ben!!

@@skateordiedev Did we just become best friends? I’m bummed now much the knee issues have been affecting my daily life outside of skating. The whole feeling of “what could have been” of not getting hurt is a whole different thing. Wish you the best!

@@xXtransfunctionXx exactly theyve been affecting my for years now but my knees are slowly getting better. I’d suggest if you weren’t aware already looking up knees over toes guy, his program is really good for curing patellar tendinitis. Is the 5th metatarsal the big toe?

If you have old footage of yourself, maybe you can do commentary vids on them. I would love to see those and would be a way to keep this channel going. Positive thoughts your way!
