I GOT BUSTED (LIFE OF A PIPELINE WELDER)
Austin Ross takes you along for a day in the life of a traveling pipeline welder. It was a short job and not another one in sight so I head back towards Oklahoma and get busted by one of you! Did I make it home in time for Thanksgiving? #pipelinelife
Great to meet you, Nathan! So glad you stopped and said Hi.

Two questions. It looked like that hitch sits behind the rear axel, so what does that do for handling or.bounce on the front end or just general ride? Second question is regarding the tow mirrors, was curious why they were not folded up? I pull trailers with a dodge, and I love my mirrors out, Just curious. Love the videos, so fascinating to see a side of the industry I have no experience with or in.

How's the truck handle with your hitch so far back? And if it's good, how far back is it? I have a repo truck that has a lift hanging out of the back and sometimes I get dispatched for 5th wheel trailers and don't want to go back and grab another truck. I also don't want to hit my life on the trailer. I enjoy your videos. Not many KZfaqrs are hard working normal job people.
@AustinandKayla
@AustinandKayla 5 жыл бұрын
It handles good. The trailer being level front to back makes a huge difference. Vs what I had on here before. It was way too high in the front. Pulling it level and with the fifth wheel hitch made a world of difference.

RVs really don't weigh much compared to a nice trailer and skidsteer, but the air resistance in a big rv is what does it. basically trying to cut the air with a 8 foot by 8 foot (give or take) wall. Takes alot of work to power through it.

Debated. It seems like if I leave it then I'll head in a different direction. If I take it home I'll be right back up there. There is always a catch when you can't predict the future. lol There is never a right answer if you know what I mean.

I wouldn't have the fifth wheel resting so far behind the back axle. But to each their own.

It looks like hes chopped the frame for a squaty look sovits probably only a couple inches behind the axle. Still not to good of an idea

I was about to ask that question. Should he be back that far? I think he shouldn't.

In a normal application I'd say the hitch that far back is a recipe for disaster. But his welding machine plus the added weight of the body and tools far exceeds the tongue weight hes loosing by having the hitch so far back especially on such a short wheel base truck. Besides if the hitch was where it actually should be the camper would almost be on top of the welder. Not sure how the front end would like it either.

He did it for the same reason I had to on my rig, to make sure there s room when turning and such between the camper and the welder and tools
