He was on (effectively) private land... public water access only applies if the water is navigable from public access points. (And it clearly wasn't a wet boots scenario). A lot of dams have restricted areas, partially to cover their asses if somebody dies or is injured being in a dangerous area when flood gates are opened etc. and prevent idiot randos from messing with dam controls. I support public water access... but you need to respect land owner rights too.
@OneMinuteFishing
@OneMinuteFishing 2 ай бұрын
@ThePorpoisepower it was public, and I didn't pass any signs because I took the kayak. And it is a weir, not a dam, therefore there are no controls and essentially very little risk. The warden knew this, so that's why he didn't try trespassing. Instead he tried improper launching of a boat.

The problem, IMO, is likely how close he is to that hydro facility. Whether it’s making power or just controlling water flow it is likely considered some type of “secure” infrastructure and it appears there’s no direct water navigation to this area for just that reason. Also, it’s a safety risk for the facility having someone in that area to at they are unaware is there. If that’s a spillway and they have to do a fast release it could take that guy out.

You paid for the land. Not the wildlife that may run through it. There's a difference. You do not own the wildlife on your land. Sorry. And thank you for tour service. As a veteran you should know that having a valid hunting and fishing license are absolutely vital to keeping the wildlife population at a level that everyone can still go out and have a good hunt or a great day fishing without worrying about depleted levels of wildlife. That's what the whole TEN DOLLARS it costs in my state for a 1 year fishing license fee is to cover. To make sure the wildlife that runs across YOUR property that you own stay safe and healthy for real hunters and fisherman can enjoy legally. I know 10 bucks is a lot for the year to be able to take basically as many fish as you can possibly catch in a year for less than 1 dollar a month. But luckily in my state veterans get a discount on their fishing license. I believe it comes out to like 7 bucks for the entire year. And I thought veterans were supposed to care about our country and everything living within its borders. Thank you for clarifying that's not necessarily true.

@Mind_of_a_Very_Strange_Man blah blah the fees are not going to "better the fishing or hunting" they are going towards paying for dnr and park ranger pay. The dnr can't manage a fish in a fish bowl. My lake used to be prize walleye lake. They stole the majority of the walleye and then stocked northern pike several times and turned the lake into crap. The fees are robbery nothing more.

In the intro, the warden is yelling because the dam is VERY loud. I removed some of the background noise in editing. If you watch until the end you will see hes actually very nice. The rules he has so enforce is not his fault, thats the governments fault. He kicks people out of here all day because its an unauthorized area. I thought if I 🎶kayaked up the river🎶 i could get around this, like a loophole. I guess not, but really, this guy was cool about it. Ive removed so many nasty comments, please be civil.
