This is exactly the issue. What's a "pro" and what's a "casual". For a lot of casuals, none of this matters because they exclusively play offline. This was me early on in MK11. I could still engage with whatever mechanics and combos I wanted to, but none of it really mattered because I was playing against the CPU and they weren't doing everything they could to win. With Kombat League I moved into playing online and playing ranked, and with MK1 I got as high as demi-god or god in the first season. I'm miles away from being a "pro" but I know the terminology and can hold my own at a level which seemed unreachable in my early MK11 days. I'm not sure what angle this guy is coming from. Unless you're SonicFox, there will always be someone better than you at the game who knows more than you. His complaint basically seems to be that if you're a casual but play online and go up against someone who takes the game seriously and knows the mechanics then you'll get annihilated? Obviously that's the case. There are plenty of valid complaints about MK1, and I agree that the store is shitty and scummy, but I think his arguments regarding the gameplay are daft. When he claims to speak for the "casual" player, who is he actually representing? People who play ranked but don't want to put the effort in to get good at the game? Casual and invasions and local multiplayer and towers and story exist for players who don't want to learn the mechanics. This isn't a criticism, this was me not long ago. It's not as simple as "pro" Vs "casual". The game is designed so people who learn the game and practice a lot and know about fighting games can annihilate people who don't. I don't think that's a bad thing at all

So I have a buddy who loves mortal Kombat, he specifically loves playing with me and my other friend. I’ve asked him multiple times “why don’t you learn literally one combo?” And he always says “I don’t care about learning combos or how to actually play the game, I just wanna be able to get on and play with my bros and button mash and do semi well” I swear that’s what he said. My point is I think there’s something to be said about people who just don’t want to learn the intricacies of the game and just wanna play casually and maybe whoop some ass by button mashing online. So I can sorta understand where the causal gamer argument comes from. But it’s also so hard because at the same time if you aren’t going to learn the basics of frame data you should be doomed to losing matches. Because after all that’s how all fighting games work.

Not even that, if you watch those long enough, the AI can sometimes pull off a full BnB combo and use their kameo. This guy can't do either and plays the game like it's Mortal Kombat 2 from 1993.

Even though those days were fun too, MK had to grow. He's still stuck in the arcade days where you got in, did a move, and backed away.... He's not understanding that, now, there is a whole new strategy and more depth to these fighting games.

Lets not forget, the tutorial mode literally teaches you all of this step by step. Every single aspect from frames ,pressure kombos etc.

I'm guilty on that part no cap i have to remember that its more important to use proper spacing,stagger,damage lead and focus on counters at the higher level as most of the characters don't have mix that is unreachable. Keep dropping the tech vids been going through them binge watching the options available in this game its insane. Especially your cyrax sub setups.

Yeah, I supported him at first because, in my opinion, I don't like this MK, it's definitely not complete and the monetization on top of that is just salt in the wounds. I also think characters are limited because they have to cater to the kameos gimmick (another thing I despise about this game, I don't like assist fighting games, that's my preference, I prefer tag). Then you watch his gameplay, one after another, and I started to kindly make little suggestions and remarks that maybe he should start trying to understand fighting games and the mechanics a bit more before having such hot takes even if I happen to inadvertently agree with one every now and then. The difference is I understand basic and intricate mechanics of the game in order to have felt the way I felt and it's aggravating trying to explain that he's making us look like idiots. You even try to explain some of the basic...basic...things (not even pro level)... And he just glosses over the comment and replies "mate, I'm not playing the game your way, I don't do 80% combos, I'm a scrapper" Then begins to rant about how combos are the problem after he is hit by a four hit, standard move list, combo and starts crying. He's stuck in the Sega/arcade days, don't get me wrong... I miss them too, however the game had to evolve or it'd have been boring if it stayed that way. I do think there needs to be a better way (for NRS) to balance the characters without taking away defensive and offensive options, but besides the point I enjoy seeing action. He's still wanting to go with the old strategy of do a hit, back away, jump in, back away, spam a projectile 12x, back away..... That's not MK anymore and it would absolutely suck if it stayed that way....sure it can be a useful strategy, IN SOME CASES, but he just wants the whole game to stay that way....both players just taking turns hitting each other....oooh. Even worse is he's, allegedly , "taught" self defense, he should understand.... unless there's rules to a fight (like boxing, MMA), then you're not just going to take turns and be fair. The minute you whiff, I understand my character enough (the whole move list and the overall game's mechanics), to punish that enough to keep you on guard. All he wants you to hit him a couple times...and back off or some hand holding mechanic that allows him to get out of jail free...why? How does that make sense? He simply doesn't want to learn and is mad he can't play grampa style anymore because MK, since MK9 (that he claims to love so much, even though I also know it's to do with content and that I agree with too), they have shifted the focus to a more in-depth combat style and that's WHY we fell back in love with MK (also the fan service, which has been lacking)..

@@jackkawf4449 I love the Kameo system but I completely understand some not liking it. Stryker is oppressive when you don't know what to do but so is Kenshi and Johnny. Stryker is do trades in between grenade throws, you hear the sirens B4 they come at you, then D2 or whatever your character has block grenades and you are ahead, next grenade he's on cooldown. Many characters can knock Stryker out on the punish like long range D4's then while he on cooldown that's when you mix him and get your damage. Kenshi is wait for B2 or B12 mix to Backdash or armor and poke Sento then you have 6-8 seconds and keep eye out for Sento 3 launcher on his wakeup. Johnny is fuzzy his F12 and 21 mix forcing him to throw and do his highs and both are beat by MicroDuck and poke. FATE's arguments fall on its head because he refuses to learn anything. Just wants to play crap and have the game make mechanics to hand him guardian angels to save him from punishment of his poor gameplay. The vast majority of pros and competitive players alike hate the micro transactions, the lack of online and offline content and character/Kameo customization. I have no clue how FATE even thinks we don't. I do agree with Foxy on the skins though, I haven't bought any I don't wanna pay for. And my one issue is the $10 skins at beginning. I'm glad they made an awesome skin like Kitana Klaus $5 and hooded Liu/Reptile $3. I hate the grindy Invasions with low XP gains and hope they fix it. Pro's don't get their way and a perfect example of that is MKTomBrady from MK9 onward who complained about Subs Clone glitching which was obviously a big, was ignored for a decade despite the vids going viral, mass appeal. They cared more about casuals/lower skilled players who hated clone. But I think FATE's ideology of MK is wildly inaccurate and most of us are in the same boat. FATE is literally searching for only his opinion to be reverberated through the echo chamber of his followers. In every video he posts showing people's posts/tweets shows 20-1 people who disagree with him but he ignores them and only accepts what reinforces his beliefs. Cognitive dissonance at it's finest. How does he not understand everyone in competitive circles and even TYM are all very hardcore MK Fans definitely moreso than him. They obviously put more effort and time into learning the game

I've been here long before MK9 and I've seen the same tired statement: MK9/MKX/MK1 is going to die, they say this in the first 4 months.​ It didn't Die in any of those, the only one it actually died in was MK11 and that was because of the dumbest balancing strategy and idea for a fighting game where it was a watered down scrubfest with poke/throw meta, hand holding mechanics all over the place, like FATE wants. The community spoke then and they hated MK11. Fatal Blows where match stealers that came back even when you where bad and missed, Krushing Blows where low execution 1 Button combos, pokes where not punishable and plus in some cases for half the game, Throws and D2 had Krushing Blows universal to delete 40% despite fate hating that kind of easy damage. They advertised the game as a footsies game but made half the characters with F Neutral tools I could literally go on for hours on how bad MK11 was vs all the other modern MK's(MK9/MKX and now MK1) @@FAM0US-M0NSTERS-

It is most certainly a flawed game, and your grievances with it are valid, but it is not alone in having flaws. The real issue I see is that the discontents are more vocal about the things they took issue with, and it makes it harder to appreciate things that the game did right. It is certainly less execution heavy, lowering the skill floor/barrier to entry in that regard. It's a bit more mentally engaging; the flow chart nature of strings and cancels, with the Krushing Blow knowledge checks turns into a sort of mind game. The mind game that says "Do you know that I know you know X/Y/Z is going to reward something?" Also, is that entertaining for a majority of spectators? Not really, I will admit; they would have to be in the know, so the uninitiated just see a bunch of repetitive sequences that seem to lack any creativity.

Games don't die. U can't take anyone serious if she change like the wind. U wuld have a better time proving a game is good to people who follow the crowd than winning the lottery

I think it offers a more structured way to post tech, character guides, how to tech and ask how to improve. Twitter limits your words and you can't even explain why 1 move is bad or good, let alone explaining a characters strengths vs faults. Also no video length limits
