Along with the Russian AK, the type-56s were first used by NVA forces during the opening battle of the Vietnam War, the Battle of La Drang.

They forgot the fact that when people were learning to wield this weapon, they were taught how to shoot it, how to field strip it, and most importantly who to kill with it, and once mastering these basic principles were off to war with burning pride in their country. And most of us know the famous quote: "...the gun so simple, with 8 moving parts, that a kid could shoot with it, and they did."

My Grandpa was an gun dealer back then and he had a Chinese SKS and it had a working bayonet like the Type 56. He told me he used to have an AK but sold it long ago. He passed away in 2013.

The AK will never die it will be here long after we turn into dust
@MrBahjatt Жыл бұрын
The Type 56 is essentially an AK-47 Type 3 with modifications. The front sight is closed (a la SKS) and folding bayonet (a la SKS). The most early Type 56 were much closer to the AK-47 Type 3, but did incorporate some AKM features.
@sergiom9958 Жыл бұрын
BTW; I saw that in the video that they call Type56 to milled and stamped receivers rifles. Is it right or do the stamped receiver version have another name?

Love my Israeli AK... Galil M392 ARM with 16" barrel. Accurate as hell, reliable as an anvil, 35 and 50 round magazines... Only equal/near equal IMO is the Valmet. Used to sell MAK-90's in the 90's for something like $189... Hardly junk either, and look at what they bring today.

I agree, 762x39 is just awesome, and I don't care what people say about long distance, that's why iron sights rock with that cartridge. I have a couple akm's and would never dream of putting optics on them. Save that crap for my AR and deer rifle...

I got lucky and won a stamped Norinco Sporter off gunbroker about 6 months ago for about 1,450 it’s my first AK and man I tell you it runs great, the stock trigger is very smooth and shoots accurate. It caught me by surprise how accurate it can shoot all of the misconception about an AK not being accurate is totally false. I would say I like it over my AR-15.
@Kray21728SP3 жыл бұрын
Well it’s not the AKM. It’s different because stamped receiver on it is lighter while the Type 56 is the same like the AK-47 since milled receiver.
@sbreheny Жыл бұрын
Type 56 has a stamped receiver like the AKM - it is just a bit thicker sheet metal (1mm for AKM, 1.5mm for Type 56). Some early Type 56es (some of which they show here) did have milled receivers but they are in the minority by far.
@sergiom9958 Жыл бұрын
@@sbreheny I just saw the video and realized that they saw both milled and stamped receivers (these ones without folding bayonet) and called them Type56. I was wondering if the stamped receiver version has a different name (like the North Korean milled type 58 and type 68 stamped version).
@oldtimesmatthew7 жыл бұрын
Good video. Just want to make one correction though. The original type 56 is an all milled receiver AK, and thus is not an AKM variant, but a Chinese version of the Russian type III AK 47. Thus it is a true AK 47 and not AKM.
@GiuseppeSimonetti4 жыл бұрын
Wait so the Type 56 used a long stroke gas piston instead of a short stroke? Because the AK-47 and AKM used a short stroke gas piston.
@12tyni4 жыл бұрын
AKs are all long stroke, short strokes include G36, 416 etc in which the piston only moves a small distance, whereas long strokes moves the whole travel. Usually means the piston and the carrier is one piece.

Both the Chinese AK and the Chinese SKS are called Type 56 because they were adopted the same year and used for different purposes. The SKS version is called the Type 56 Carbine and the AK version is called the Type 56 Assault Rifle (of course, the original is a true assault rifle since it is select fire)

I mean, the AK is from the STG44, the STG44 is from the Thompson, the Thompson is from the 1911, the 1911 is from the revolver, the revolver is from the musket, the musket is from the arquebus, the arquebus is from the fire-lance. The fire-lance was invented by China along with the "arquebus", and also gunpowder. So it all circles back to China! :D
