I have a 1976 Super Single Six with the mag cylinder. Made in the 200th year of American Liberty stamped on the barrel. Paid $112 for it brand new. She still works like brand new. I picked up 2 Ruger Wranglers so I can take the grand kids out target shooting . We have a good time with them . Long live the single sixes. Rugers may cost a little more , but you get what you pay for.

Has anyone here owned or seen a Ruger Single Six that was manufactured in 1953? According to Ruger Serial number records only about 50 were made in 1953 which makes them pretty rare. By 1954 production numbers increased significantly with about 10,000 made in 1954. Just curious because I’ve never been able to find a picture or anything of one that was actually manufactured in 1953..

I like where the firearms historian says first he developed his Blackhawk and it needed a little companion so along comes in, very short time, the single six. What a moron of an historian, the Single Six came out in 53 and the Blackhawk in 55 so that blows his expertise on the subject.

Thankyou Bill Ruger for making my childhood great. I grew up with a Single Six that came with the extra .22WMR cylinder. The .22mag's were a "treat" for me. They were more expensive than .22lr so after a day of shooting.22lr. I would be allowed to shoot a few .22WMR. I can't tell you how special I felt when I loaded up those big .22 magnums, or so they seemed big at 6yrs old.

I used to own a Gun Shop in AZ. They used to call me Ruger Dave because of all the Rugers I owned and raved about. SR series of pistols are very nice.

The popularity of westerns led to an increase in sales of single action revolvers. The same happened around 20 years later with the Dirty Harry movies leading to an increase in sales of 44 magnum revolvers. Specifically the Smith and Wesson model 29 as used by Dirty Harry himself.

I have a Super Single Six made in the 200th year of American Liberty stamped on the barrel . She is in very good shape after 46 years. I think she will out last me by many years. I will pass her on to the grand kids. :-)

It might be considered old when your great grandson gets too old to use it.

I hate the transfer bar feels like most 3 screw models had nicer triggers then the post transfer bar models.

The barrel bore diameter is not the proper size to shoot .22 MAGNUM ammunition accurately in the Ruger Single 6 rimfire revolver for use with .22 MAGNUM conversion cylinder, because the bore diameter is .219" inches. To shoot .22 MAGNUM rimfire ammunition accurately the bore diameter must be .223" inches !
