My brother and a group of his mates went hiking in the Cairngorm mountains... I thought it would be fun to try and track them down without them knowing... 3 days. 45 Miles. Some great food and booze. And of course A HEAVY PACK! Enjoy!

Magic film😊. Like the way good food is as central to the film as the scenery, and so it should be in all great walk n wildcamping films👏👍🏼and fair play to you sir,its quite the walk off top through Rothiemurchus and onto Aviemore and thats after a long days walk 👏

Thanks! Yeah I always like to try and eat well when I’m out in the wild, I don’t think it’s necessary to just resort to eating ready meal pouches! Yes that was a big last day, my feet were killing me!

Great Video! Looked hard going through the snow. Would love to get up to scotland with my kayak. Look forward to the next one.

Yeah the snow was exhausting. Suddenly our pace dropped to something like 0.5mph from about 3 which took a big toll on the timings for the day! Thanks for watching!

If your stove has a preheater tube, invert the canister. The gas is liquid in the cold and inverting it feeds the liquid which the reheater turns to gas. Or take a petrol or alcohol stove. You arent exactly a lightweight walker. Take some lighter gear and you can th n carry more wine..😅 Edit, doesnt look like you have a preheater...

Yeah I should probably get a stove with a preheater. Though I’m thinking of ditching gas altogether and going alcohol. I love the silence of an alcohol stove! But yes going lighter to carry more wine is a GREAT IDEA!

@@rorymchenry373 The price of gas has gone through the roof. I mostly use alcohol stoves. Have a look at the speedster system. Made in the UK. Very good. I do like my Trangia 27 and good for proper cooking rather than just boiling water. As for wine, I picked up 1 litre festival bottles on Amazon They are collapsible. Decant the wine into them. Saves weight and doesn't allow the wine to oxidise.

@@BrokenBackMountains yeah I love the trangias, the smell of cooking on aluminium over meths is so distinctive and takes me back to lots of fond memories! Also good tip on the collapsible wine bottles, I’ve used them before but there’s just something about opening an actual bottle ‘in the field’…

Good stuff - more! The public demands it (edit: delighted to see more Guinness. Not G-splitting territory this time, but I hope you had a few more to try ;) Cheers

This was a fun video, though I think you are a little nuts. All good though. I would have been delighted to see you turn up in the middle of nowhere, a) you have wine, b) you know how to cook. (but please tell me you didn't throw the pasta water away before the meal was finished, that's what creates that glossy texture, (and eggs). But as you were in Scotland, smoked salmon would be a good substitute for anchovies). The highland ponies were really nice, people mistakenly always think of Shetlands when they think about Scottish ponies. The late Queen did a lot to promote the breed. Fantastic, thick set strong animals and the ones that would have been used by the clans historically. The bothies look great, I almost want to head North and stay in them. But then I remember that I actually don't like living without central heating. But watching your videos one can dream that one is a different person to what one has learnt they are. You do make it look attractive even when you are struggling. I live in the South like you, (though further South), it's strange to think that we are connected to this "land of ice and snow", and then you can jump on a train back to London. Must be hard to adjust to the contrast? More videos please.

Thankyou! Don’t worry, the pasta water went into the dish! Most people tend to just take dehydrated prepackaged camping meals on multi day treks but I just love cooking, especially in the great outdoors and so am happy to carry the extra weight of ingredients (though I know I’m in the minority on this!) Bothers are a fantastic way to experience the Highlands. They offer great shelter and also a wonderful place to meet like minded people and share some stories and a drink or two. I think everyone is capable of getting out into nature, even if we are conditioned to think we need home comforts. Even for one night out, we can endure some uncomfortable conditions but the reward is being out in a beautiful landscape. I highly recommend it if you get the chance!
