Lighthouse, you have the strangest, most awkwardest, and confusing titles I've ever seen, but you have the best, descriptive, and mostly enjoyable stories behind those titles. Also, if I'd see a pile of rats, I'd definitely blame it on my cat. She brought a rabbit home today.

When I was a tween, I had a huge manx who brought me a large rat and a rabbit at the same time. She was carrying both in her mouth, stunned but alive. She walked up to me on the porch, and dropped both at my feet. The rat ran one way and the rabbit the other, and the cat looked at me like I was a huge idiot to let supper get away. We lived on farming acreage in the country and she was an outside cat who showed up and begrudgingly became an inside/outside cat. She really took to my dad - he slept on his back with his hands folded on his chest (yes really). He'd go to bed and she'd nudge under his elbow and up to his armpit, lay her head on his shoulder and go to sleep. When I was a teenager, I had to have surgery on both of my feet. To have some mobility, the podiatrist scheduled the surgeries a week apart. Dad took me for the first surgery and when we got home, there was Honey sitting next to a huge dead rat on the doormat. The next week, we came home and there she was, with another huge dead rat. Somehow she knew I'd not be able to hunt for food because of the surgery, so she took care of it. I don't know how she knew - those two occasions were the only time she did this. (She hunted for herself but only brought us things now and then and they were always just stunned.) I feel like she thought I was her (large, not very bright) kitten and she took care of me, since I was obviously a terrible hunter. She was a very large cat - there had been a manx breeder in the area a decade before, and we assumed there were some escapees who had cross bred with wildcats, resulting in the two 30+ lb manxes who moved in with us (she brought her gentleman friend to move in too eventually.) She was an amazing, fierce, protective boss cat.

@@bloodybriars9399 Yes it was. She was a fierce protector of anyone she decided was family. She was an amazing cat. Now that I think about it, I think she brought me stunned animals because she was trying to get me to learn to hunt and support myself since I was terrible at it.

That is perfectly adorable. I had such a cat when I was younger, and I felt somewhat the same as u. She was hunting for me, supporting me til I could figure out the way of it. By the way, if HP Lovecraft was writing today, I believe that his tales might have sounded much like this. Those last lines would have been set in italics.

Fun fact: when a cat brings you a dead mouse or whatever, its not a gift. They're seeing you not going and catching your food, so they're doing it for you because they think you're really stupid

They're asserting dominance over you cause they dont think you can provide for yourself. I found that interesting since we feed them,and what not. I guess it's just the primal drive they have.

For those last few lines, it surprised me. My first thought wasn't that the house had learned how to eat, like the story said... My first thought was that it learned how to open the fridge and simply took the food out of spite. Food thieves are horrible housemates.

in 21 seconds it describes everything I love about old houses. tho I absolutely hate it when they take down the wall between kitchen and living room because it happens to be stylish now. you wouldnt start painting over something in a museum just because they dont have drip in modern standards.

am I the only one that kinda felt bad for the house... I mean yeah, the way it acted was terrifying and I would definitely not live there, but I kinda felt sad that it trusted the person living there, never meaning any harm and how much it didn't want to be left alone again (because nobody wanted to live there), with it crying when the owner returned... am I the only one who felt that way?

I did. It's creepy and unnerving, but it never really did any harm against the owner, except scaring them and stealing their food, basic pet behavior. I was like "please don't leave the house", 'cause I kinda feel bad for it. hahahaha am I weird lol

This Bitch- this bitch man. I- your house is ur pet, be nicer you bitch. they killed rats for you, first day of you living there, before they knew you. They saw new owner, new owner was distressed. Why new owner upset? rat? okay, no more rat! this mannnn. He saw his cat rolling over and then ran off and complained that his cat liked him.

Even though I realize it’s partially due to the story, I have to say at the outset just how soothing a narration by Lighthouse Horror can be. In this video, the overall calm and refusal to totally freak no matter what happened was a perfect combination of excellent narrator instinct and wonderful writing on the part of the author, Archie_Sunshine! It was one of the most interesting haunted house stories I remember hearing and comparing it to a neglected pet was quite apt and insightful. The buyer’s background no doubt contributed to his acceptance although you’d almost expect him to be more freaked as a non-believer having that ripped to shreds by the experience. The end made me apprehensive because it gave serious “feed me Seymour” vibes lol! I loved the narration, its tone & calm, the music & the awesome backgrounds! Thank you and the author very much for this wonderful experience! (Also, I made another reply about memberships for your consideration).

This reminds me of an episode of "Courage The Cowardly Dog" called "House Calls" where Courage and the Bagges come across a man whose house is alive because he used special music to bring his house to life, but only for it to become jealous and cruel. After it attacks the Bagge farmhouse, Courage and the man subdue the house by repairing and redecorating it make it a calm and peaceful house.

Look hauntings are terrifying, but having a living home that just wants you to stay makes me beleive we can get along. I look after the home, the home looks after me. I would never be alone, ill be like the old man from Monster House. Just me & my home. Everytime i leave ill let the house know i WILL be back. I will be home & i will tell it that any food in the fridge is mine, we can share but dont eat it all. If you need some more ill put extra in their just for my home. But i gotta eat too!😂

Man, I would be ecstatic to have this house. I would love it unconditionally. OP doesn't know how great he has it. Poor house goes above and beyond for him and he treats it with disgust and contempt. Sad! I'm sure the house thinks his weird fleshy bits are gross too but you don't hear her complaining. This house is marriage material. He should settle down and have beautiful little house-kids with her. Be a real man and take responsibility!

this reminds me of an old comic i read in school, about a dude who had to feed people to his house or something, i can't for the life of me find it right now, but it was trippy, (edit) johnny the homicidal maniac, a comic about a young man who had to kill people, to use their blood to paint over a wall in his house to stop a monster from getting out, i don't think the story ever confirms if the monster is real or not, i can't remember
