That’s because that’s the moment he realized Yondu wasn’t tearing into him or lashing out. He had a point to make, and he made it perfectly clear. Being Human makes us feel vulnerable, and being vulnerable makes us feel weak. Rather than act like you are too hard to let people who actually care about you into your life, because it makes you remember how insignificant or helpless you can be, embrace them, instead. Yondu made the same mistakes. He took those people that actually looked up to him for granted, and it eventually made him a very lonely man. He doesn’t want Rocket to suffer the same fate.

@@luc3454 James Gunn, James Gunn did that, the only reason he wanted to do GotG is he loved Rocket Raccoon. Who was a severely physically, and emotionally damaged genius finally finding love, acceptance, and a new family in the comics.

No, letting characters have impactful deaths and fulfilling endings is good writing and part of why his character is so memorable. His death is one of the best scenes marvel have ever made, think of how much different his character would be remembered if that scene never existed. I’m not a big fan of marvel movies to be honest but that scene made me bawl my eyes out.

Nebula's reaction hearing Rocket's voice in GOTG3 or Quill's desperation as Rocket flatlined? Aunt May's death? Andrew Garfield's redemption in saving MJ? Kraglan at Yondu's funeral when the Ravagers show up to honor his sacrifice? It's a great scene, and deftly jumps two character's development forward in one short scene, but it doesn't hit as hard as others.

One thing I noticed: At the start, Rocket keeps eye contact with Yandu. Once he starts to realized Yandu DOES have him figured out, he starts avoiding eye contact... right up until Yandu starts on WHY he has Rocket dialed in. At that point, he locks eyes with him again, but now with a totally different demeanor.

So many Deathflags 1. Character Introduced As Villain Suddenly Become Good. Check. 2. Character suddenly unloading their tragic backstory and how they feel about themselves and their current situation. Check. 3. Being a mentor of the adventurous Main Character. Check 4. Characters Making Unprompted Emotional Speeches. Check 🥲 I'd love a writer that understands deathflags and just puts like 10-12 of them on a single character and never let them die tbh. Writers want to get the audience attached right before they wrench it away.
