Here's a bike I could actually see myself paying $20,000 for. Buell teamed up with Roland Sands Designs for this new Buell Super Cruiser. The release isn't set for a few more years (2025 if we're lucky), but I think there's potential. Let me know your thoughts below!

In 2009 amid an economic downturn, Harley-Davidson decided to shut down the Buell Motorcycle Company. It's important to buy things new when something comes out that you like. Some people wait until vehicles are a little older to buy one so they can save a little money, but then those same people get mad when they cancel a certain model because of low sales. Manufacturers don't take into account how many used units are being sold. It's like all the car enthusiasts that get mad because manual transmissions are disappearing.... We'll go buy one then. It might be a big investment, but you are doing your part to keep what you like alive.

when a manufacturer releases a product they already have a schedule for how long it will be run. marketing divides customers into different categories, but for simplicity’s sake let’s call one group “early adopters” and the other one “conservatives”. In the context of motorcycles, the early adopters have a host of reasons for being the first ones to own a new vehicle. Their purchasing philosophy is radically different than that of a more conservative customer that values reliability and convenience over novelty. Buell most likely has a strategy to reach the conservative group over time.

Two things to be said about that. 1. Buell was an unprofitable boat anchor under HD. Erik Buell was a revolutionary engineer, yes, BUT the people buying motorcycles are not engineering nerds and Buells designs were just too far outside of the mainstream for the overwhelming majority of the consumer market. It seems interesting for sure. People love to bitch about Harley prices and practices (while some points I do agreee) but nothing else is quite like a Harley. You can't even get into (NEW) models of Indian for less than 12K MSRP. Even if this bike is good, if its over 20k then only rich or committed fans will be on it. I'm not over here calling the Pan American or The Sportster S (love to have one) Indian killers, people love to hate I guess, but competition is good. Even the 'lesser priced Honda and Yams etc are up in price and have a fraction of support and customization compared to the 2 American MC companies. My biggest gripe is how the CEO of Harley wants to make HD a luxury brand essentially which I disagree with entirely but if we as customers tell them what we want, well, the bottom line will show that, only time can tell but I'm not wishing for Harleys demise when they've done alot and have been making pretty good steps in the past few years to break into the newer scene.

If it was configured as a sport bike and around $13k I would, but it looks like they're just using the Buell name to sell a heavily modified dyna. Which everyone has already.

@@DenvarShay HD really doesn't have out of control pricing. And Ftr1200 is more than a sportster S. The pan america is priced the same as a GS1250. A new r1 is 18k for christ sake.
@DenvarShay
@DenvarShay Жыл бұрын
@@fvgc454ss The base price on a Sportster S actually isn't that bad, you're right. But a base FTR is still cheaper by close to 1k USD, close though. The R1 is in a totally different league to both in terms of performance, technology, fit and finish. So I'm not sure how it made it into that argument. An R1 costs less than a Low Rider S, and while I own multiple cruisers and can appreciate them for what they are...at least you can see the costs in the R1. KYB forks and shock, electronic wizardry, decent tires, dual brembos up front, magnesium wheels, a 200hp+ engine full of titanium, titanium exhaust etc. How much in Screaming Eagle dollars and Harley Technicians is it going to cost to match any of that? (rhetorical question, I know it's 10's of thousands)

@@DenvarShay wrong. My buddy got a sportster s for 16,9 out the door. Other buddy got a 2019 ftr1200s was 18,9 out the door. The entire point is a liter bike like an r1 brand new was 10k in 2005. Everything has gone up. Performance bike with no creature comforts and the entire body is plastic. Its hilarious when people compare Japanese pricing to anything premium brand. HD, Ducati, BMW, KTM, MV Agusta will always be more money how nobody understands by now is beyond comprehension. Flat out performance isn't what everyone is after. Some people like the look, the sounds the ergonomics the practicality etc. And not everyone wants the same bike every hockey puck has with white Oakleys and a flat brim monster hat. Beyond that honda, yamaha, kawasaki, suzuki build cars, generators, outboard engines etc. Most of there motorcycle race programs are tax writes offs for the rest of the company. Same as ducati is to VW. So they have the ability to mass produce at a fraction of the other companies. HD still owns itself.

The hardcore Buell guys are probably not too impressed, me for one, who need another old school cruiser. I guess they are giving up competing with Ducati and such, like what Buell intended to do the EBR 1190RS and RX did.

So if you ride your bike every day for your main transportation, especially the high way, you do not want a lightweight bike. Only 430ld isn't a perk for a guy like me that rides every day. If your trying to do tricks, then hell yea, I get it. I ride a lightweight 2001 xl1200c at only 491LB. Man, I can't wait to get a heavier bike. (Ps.) F U wind! Lol

Why do people talk about bikes that kill Harley’s? Who cares? People don’t buy Harley’s to be the fastest bikes. The idea that Harley owners would really believe that Harley’s are the best bikes for speed or for any reason is silly. If you ride, you can respect all bikes. If you can’t, check your ego.
