The woman who ended up in the mental hospital is her agent-the one who was most disturbed by Mima’s sexualization as an actress, and (presumably) the one responsible for the murders. All the men she killed the agent saw as responsible for ruining Pop Idol Mima and her innocence. However, by the time her agent is put away, it’s already too late for the real Mima-she’s spiraled too far and can no longer tell her real self from her personna.

It's also hinted that the person who ended up in the mental hospital WAS Mima. They changed the voice actress at the end when she said "I'm the real one" (both in sub and dub), aka even though we saw her as Mima, the voice actress who said those words was Rumi's. Rumi is pretending to be Mima while Mima rots in the mental hospital, basically. It's still up to interpretation but the voice actress was Rumi's at the end, and they both (+ Mimania) have illusions of themselves (and others) as different than they really are, so I believe that that was Rumi being free at the end.

@@Madvisionn yup there's a video available on KZfaq discussing the case and bjork's next album after this incident "homogenic" deals with such topics because that guy killed himself and she sent flowers to his family at the funeral He was VERY mentally Ill and in her album songs like pluto use lyrics from fan suicide letters sent to her And the album closer all is full of love is dedicated to all troubled individuals The music video for that song is ART it is even installed in the museum for modern arts Hint: it has lesbian robots

This is one of those “really good movies you only want to see once”. The surreal paranoid atmosphere, the slightly off character designs, the way the film handles themes of celebrity and female exploitation-it’s a real mindfuck, but a great one.
