Best ever. I have a FTE in however due to what we use the 105 for (traveling in Africa) the fuel management is not controlled by the ECU (all mechanical) absolutely awesome engine.

Mate, having owned a FTE for 15 years one thing I would recommend is to get rid of the computer and go full manual pump

If you want a fully stand alone ECU for your FTE look at the Baldur DID1 ECU. I bought one for my FTE, sadly it still sits on my shelf not yet installed. It is pretty customisable as you can build your own logic/code as a function on the I/O and create special functions, the only down fall of it is that it is quite different to set up than the most common petrol ECU's like Haltech, Maxxecu and so on. So you can't just drop it of at a tuner and ask them to tune it for you. Another cool feature, hand built/assembled in Iceland 🌋

Yesssssssss, Love the choice! This engine conversion makes the most sense for so many reasons. 105 FTE is dream tier.

The FTE needs new injector lines every 150k due to higher pressure, I would say 250 is fine but they need changing, I got my genuine from the middle east.

Really? Mime have done 550.000km on the original lines. Modern common rail systems have quite a lot higher pressure and uses same type of tubes/pipes. Why wouldn't the FTE lines hold up?

Nice choice of engine! What was the turbo oil drain welded for? FTE block has a drain so no longer necessary is my guess. Looking forward to more of these videos.

I had a 2004 1hz and it had the piston oil squirters fitted from factory. I wonder what year they were introduced?

Quite possibly an early/late model block difference. I thought of that after I put the video together. Might mean good things for late model 1HZs with a turbo

Nice! Did you by chance do a compression test and everything was within spec? Cause at almost half a millîon miles, while the engine is out, I'd be awfully tempted just to do a full rebuild.... I enjoy your channel, mate!

Managed to find it locally (pure luck) and the front cut set me back $14k with a bit of negotiating. Generally they’re $15k+ just for the engine.

That was the plan but bought everything through PDI and they dealt with G turbo. Much of a muchness- both fairly reliable and reputable. UFI just sound better
