After many years of trying to make factory games, I finally found an idea that could work. Inspired by games like Factorio, shapez, Satisfatory, and the old Tekkit days from Minecraft, I wanted to challenge myself to combine every single video game genre with a factory game. First up: Management games!
I love Mini Motorways, and figured that this game would work pretty well as a factory game (with a bit of help from me), and that's how Monster Shopper came to existence.
In the next devlog, I'll discuss my biggest game design mistake ever, and how it almost ruined the game.

Super interesting looking game! I think you're going to do great things with it! :D Something I'd say for the underground belt is that you instantly pop the other part out at the otherside, perhaps add a slight delay or make it actually move along the invisible belt otherwise that's a way to make a very fast factory system

And actually, that just seems that way, but the monsters actually travel along the invisible belts (and are invisible themselves as well), it just happens to be that when one disappears, the other appears, making it seem like they're one and the same haha Gotta figure out a way to not make it look like that though😅

I would have just made the splitter 1 tile instead of 2. Have the 2nd conveyor come out the side, at 90 degrees.

That's another option, but I like this as it feels more connected and makes it easier to read data too

I have to ask - why's a splitter two positions? Why not just make it a single tile? I guess it's worth implementing multi-tile objects anyway, I was just curious if there's a reason.

Mostly because I check the grid through positions, and making it two positions makes that easier. + Monsters can go into splitters from both sides, so it helps there as well

Hey hiw come youre not concerned with trademarking your games, id HATE to make a prototype and someone decides i want and trademarks the game and sues over it, ive been looking at this for ages because i want to market my game but want to keep the game as mine, whats your take

I use KZfaq as a platform to market. Besides, my game is already available to wishlist on Steam. That + my project files should be enough to show that this is my game idea. I have faith that it'll be fine!

This is cool and all, but it being monsters seems kinda unethical to me. Maybe robots would have been a better fit?

Unethical? How😂 You're assembling cartoony like monsters. They're not real haha It's just a matter of production, what they're being used for after could be anything. I sometimes imagine them being the monsters from Monster Inc.

@TheShelfman Idk just something about assembling living, biological lifeforms using industrial machines and then selling them for profit feels weird to me... Maybe it's just me though. The game looks fun anyways and i don't expect you to change it to robots or whatever. Just thought I'd point it out :) Keep going
