From growing up in South London to the multiple unsuccessful trials and plans to give up playing, I signed my first professional contract with Crystal Palace a few months before my 22nd birthday. In 1991 I signed for Arsenal Football Club where I scored 185 goals in 288 appearances. I went on to play 581 league games, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in England and Scotland, earning 33 caps for the English national team.
I am now fortunate enough to have a football broadcast career working for the BBC & ITV.
Some Career Achievements:
185 goals in 288 appearances for Arsenal (2nd all time leading goal scorer)
117 goals in 253 starts for Crystal Palace (leading post war goal scorer)
33 caps for England Men’s National Team
Premier League Winner (Arsenal): 97/98

Love this content, Wrighty. Has even given me a new perspective and respect for Lukaku. Been a Gooner since the late 80's, used to sit in the upper tier of the North Bank with my stepdad, I chanted Ian Wright Wright Wright more than I said the Lords Prayer. Not sure if you'll remember this, but in the early 90's you came to West Ways new tennis centre (a stones throw from Grenfell) they were honoured by having you come there to open it. You rolled in on your (if I remember rightly) Harley-Davidson. I was one of the kids there. You weren't there long, but it was long enough. I should have met you before, when I was a Junior Gunner, but (sadly) never did. You were the reason I became a Gooner, played up front in school and Sunday League (Harrow Youth League), wore number 8, and you were ALWAYS the inspiration for all of my goal celebrations. ........to this day there is still no funnier sight than seeing Eddie McGoldrick try and copy you doing the bogle! Mad love to you always Wrighty. And big up Big Rom too.

Being a Belgian of (Rwanda/D.R Congo) origin I have been a big critic of Lukaku cause I always felt and still feel that his the best striker in the world. But instead of owning his brand he had been complaining about the world and ofcourse his game. I honestly feel like what he has done is amazing, but too little given his potential. But today I LOVE HIM MORE BECAUSE OF 2 things he said. 1. I CAN'T BE CHILDISH ANYMORE 2. HIS BEST GAME SO FAR FOR INTER CAME AFTER BEING CRITISIZED. When I was a teenager I watched Arsenal game highlight, I never forget Arsenal number eight Ian Wright. You Ian you were super goal scorer. I love this video Romelu Lukaku he's very hard worker player, he showed his quality in primer league and the Italian series a . He is very humble and friendly guy I am the fan of both of you guys. Anytime I watch Van Persia in a Manu shirt i feel I should get into denial mode, like it never happened. Jeez I loved him as an arsenal player. Wish they had surrounded him with a few classy players like himself. I would never know what informed that decision to Join Manchester United but man did he play that season they won the trophy.
