Finally being able to get your story to be how you always imagined it is the best feeling in the world and no one can convince me otherwise! As a woman who both loves and writes sci-fi, seeing other women be passionate and geek-out about their sci-fi projects always gives me the warm fuzzies in my heart! Can't wait to read your book one day when (not if!) its published ☺

Hey! I discovered your channel a few days ago looking for writer communities on youtube. Just wanted to say that I've loved watching your videos. I really appreciate how you focus on your process, and talk us through the real steps of working on a full-length project. So many others are mostly just doing up the fun aethetics of 'being a writer'. Watching your vids, I keep smiling at your ups and downs (sidesteps? detours? happy surprises?) because they feel so relatable. Congrats on finishing the ms, it sounds fantastic and I'm so happy for you! Glad to join your corner of the internet!

your excitement is making me smile so much! i can't wait to one day read your book! 💞 I understand the whole needing the denouement to be separate. For me, Act 2 is way too HUUGE for my brain to handle, so I like splitting it into two, then having "Act 3" become Act 4 if that makes any sense

Getting to the plot beats in a timely manner seems to always be the trick. And to be honest, I haven't found a solution yet that doesn't involve a smash-cut to some other character doing something that contradicts in a comedic way what the first character just said. 9:50 Foggy head in enjoyment is better than clear head in a pile of sad. 14:30 Yes! That moment when it's there on the page, and you've saved it, and the concept manifested in the way you intended! You know that if it sees the light of day, it will light people's days! Does that make sense? Oddly enough, the way you feel about cyberpunk is the way I feel about anything retroactively set in the 1950s. You can't wear rose-colored glasses when you approach it. You have to stick it to the bourgeois oppressors. Hit them where they live, which from a mental standpoint is in the past, the so-called good ole days. Glad you got your vlog done; hopefully it helped you in the short term with some satisfaction. I'll miss your face but I'll see you again when you're ready.

Super interesting to hear you talk about cyberpunk as a subgenre. It’s one I’ve not thought much about but hearing you describe the way it’s anticapitalist and those discussion made me think I need to find some to read. I keep meaning to read more current sci-fi. And congrats on feeling so good about your story! It’s always so amazing when you write something and impress yourself, the best feeling ☺️

thanks, Liselle!! 💛 YES cyberpunk is so interesting and theres definitely a lot I want to unpack in it, especially as it’s a sub-genre that’s been largely male-dominated in the mainstream! I appreciate the encouragement so much 🥹✨

Not even 1/4th of the way through the video but I have to support the Babel hype! Glad to see you're enjoying it as well. I genuinely want to make a video essay on it because it's *that* good 😓 made me a Kuang fan for real

So happy for you hitting that stride with your writing, that's super exciting! Definitely good to take a breather after riding the wave. Rest easy! Also good on you looking into the historical influences that defined cyberpunk! I'm always disappointed when the anti-capitalist aspects get sidelined by creators who don't get how foundational they are. Oh, and I'll go get on Libby and put Babel on my reading list, thanks for the rec!

right!! the anti-cap themes are what drew me to the genre in the first place. it feels like a missed opportunity when class warfare isn’t explored in a cyberpunk story!
