Paddy, you have brought this 68 yr old grandma from Pennsylvania along with you on all your journeys beginning with The Budgeteers. I have enjoyed each and every one of them and have fallen in love with Thailand through you. You are a ray of sunshine in these dark times. Hi Paddy. I’m a nurse in California who lost her mom to Covid. Your videos are a nice distraction for me. I sometimes repeat episodes as I fall asleep to stop the monkey mind from preventing me from getting rest. I think it’s natural we are all sensing an increase in anxiety these days as numbers are climbing back up. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us & I hope your feeling better. Good job coping in a healthy way (exercise & no booze).

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that we watch you because you are genuine, not because you’re positive. There is a Thai proverb saying *Khon Nai Yaak Awk, Khon Nawk Yaak Khao* literally meaning *An insider wants out, an outsider wants in* Depression is everywhere, people just need an escape. But no matter where you run away to, depression is still there. It's in your mind, not from outside.

Thank you for saying this! You saved me from admonishing Paddy for giving attention to loosers and frustrated people that come to unload their miserable lives into the comment sections of KZfaq videos. Although, going home to get vaccinated and see family once again, wouldn't a terrible idea. My family and I did that as soon as we were fully vaccinated and I'm thankful for having to privilege of getting to see love ones again!

Hey Paddy, I live in Melbourne Australia and we are constantly in and out of lock downs due to Covid. Watching your videos is an escape for me as I miss traveling to Thailand and want to see so much more of it! You humour and outlook on life is another positive! I am working longer hours as I work for Woolworths and your videos are an escape for me after a 12hr day at work! Stay positive and keep up the good work, whether it be travel or just more personal like this video, I enjoy watching it all!

Paddy, you know what to do! The entire planet currently is f***ed! If I had the opportunity to choose anywhere to ride it out - which is what we are all doing - I would choose Samui - especially if surrounded by friends and a special woman! Don't stress - your creativity will bounce back!

Hi Paddy. I'm a new subscriber here (found you through Flora and Note). I watch many Thailand travel channels as our family is half-Thai, and I have really enjoyed your recent content. It may not be what you usually do, but the world isn't the way it usually is. Sorry to hear that your channel has become stressful; I can only imagine the pressure of it being your livelihood. Hi Paddy, one idea that may help you with your current anxiety issues - How about volunteering to help the less fortunate in your area with their basic needs? I have seen quite a few recent videos of bloggers giving food and other necessities to the Thais who have lost their jobs and homes due to the lack of tourists and constant lockdowns. Studies have shown that volunteering makes you feel healthier, happier, and triggers the reward pathway in the brain known as the mesolimbic system. It releases “feel-good” neurotransmitters such as oxytocin and vasopressin.

Hey Patty… maybe some ideas for content while you’re stationary: cost of living in different areas you have traveled in Thailand, how you plan your trips/apps that you use, exercise routine while on the road. Patty you’re doing so well, don’t worry about the hatters.

Maybe a 3 month break in England would be ok since by October “things” will be better in Thailand. But being stranded on an island isn’t that horrible.

I’ve been loving your content, plus Koh Samui is one of my favourite getaway spots. Sitting in locked down Sydney your content has been a nice bit of escapism. Trolls are sad angry people, don’t plan your life around them. You do you! Plenty of us are loving who you are and what you’re doing.

When the first wave of Covid hit, the US government told me to go home. I didn’t listen. Best decision I ever made. Do you want to feel like you belong here? When they struggle, you struggle with them. If you bail when things get hard, your just a tourist. There is a lot of good things that can be done during this time. You just have to open your mind beyond yourself and your channel and in the process you will improve both.

Hey Paddy, life ain’t so bad! If you REALLY want to be depressed look at Mickey Stotch who is stuck in Phang Nga and really fed up! Think of the positives, you managed to get to a lovely island, you are holed up in a nice condominium, you have a bunch of friends, and you have a woman by your side. Things could be worse!

You are having survivor’s guilt, channel that guilty to a sense of responsibility. Thailand like every country has its bright side but also its dark side. Right now, the dark side is in full control. Just present things as they are, no need to sugarcoat everything. Also your nightmare about creating content and getting arrested, it is other people’s reality.

Your smile and giggle and honesty is what draws me in. You don't even need to show much of Thailand, just you talking about how you feel with palm trees in the back is making me smile and Im sure loads of others!! Ive lived in Thailand and your videos just bring me back. I live in Tokyo and Canada and because of you I can feel once a day I am also in Thailand! Thank you for that. Thanks for sharing, Paddy. Loved the video and love your channel. The pandemic has made me re-think my journey as well and I just have a 9-to-5 job in Chicago. I'm sure there are millions of people like us going through the same thing. I guess that's what happens when you have lots of extra time to contemplate life. I'm looking forward to sunshine on the other side.

Ignore the haters paddy one of the signs that you have made it in life is having haters. Just keep in your mind that no matter what you do you can't please everyone and nor should you have to. Hi Paddy your thoughts and positivity inspires so many people on your channel please keep it up👍 I’m currently in lockdown in Sydney and would give my right arm to be in your position having going to Thailand 3 times a year for the last 15 years training in Muay Thai your a positive person and know that this will go away in time and the world will open back up and Thailand will bounce back big time. A thought for your channel would be maybe look at doing a 2/3 month health trip visiting Muay Thai gyms and talking with the trainers who will be doing it tuff with the current challenges they are having but also keeping fit to keep your mind and wellness in check. Mate keep the good work going you’ve come this far so get back on dreamy once permitting and keep inspiring your audience.

Paddy, I’m in shock that you're considering going back to the UK, but you are unhappy and unable to work towards your goals, It's a difficult reason to go over. You may return to the UK to relax at home. Then make a good video about the UK and then come back to Thailand again in the future. if you still miss this country and still love this country, we are always waiting for you.

Vid suggestion: Take the entire Samui cast of Friends (lol;) and visit "Ying's Thai Cooking Home". She's an absolute delight and has an authentic Thai food cookery in her lovely Thai home + YT channel which deserves a boost. Spend the day making curries etc, learning about origins and enjoying delicious Thai food. A sure vid hit too. Cheers! STL

Yes, I fully support that great idea! Ying and her husband have a very nice place and a fantastic garden. Following her, thanks to @SideTripLife, and she really deserves a boost for her work too. She really creates some authentic, amazing Thai Food, we all love so much! The Samui crew at Yings place would be a great episode, for sure! She has an amazing humor and just the perfect light mindset we need in these times, so why not, @Paddy Doyle?! Thumbs up, and can’t wait for the release today! 😊

Keep going brother. You're doing a solid and consistently watchable job with your channel. Just take a few days and think of what new adventures you can find within the limits of this situation. Make some drone videos for some travel companies to make some pennies and read a book. Breathe. Peace brother. Wish I could hit Samui or Phangnan right now

One of the things I love about your videos is your amazing ability to connect with the audience. I know it's not easy to do so when staring at a camera lens, but you do it consistently, and it's really a special talent you have. I think it comes from being honest with us and not holding back, as you have done in this video. Thank you for letting us know how things are going for you. I totally get where you're coming from, Paddy. Regarding the negative comments, I wonder what those people are doing to help Thais. Nothing. You are doing more for the country by showing the real Thailand than any of those detractors. Since the negative comments are affecting you, I recommend that you don't read them. I understand that you need to monitor your comments, but as soon as you identify negativity, just quarantine it and take whatever action is necessary with it without absorbing it. Could you get someone else to monitor and manage the negative comments for you? I also think it's important to listen to these messages from your subconcious--the dreams, feelings, and anxieties. This is your intuition talking to you and I'm glad you listen to it and share it with us. Your soul is talking to you and you are listening and responding. Good on you. Regarding the vaccines, I can speak from personal experience that being fully vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine since late May has given me a tremendous sense of relief and allowed me to return to a mostly normal life, including my fulfilling career that involves frequent travel in the US. Here in the States, there are only 3 - 4 weeks between doses of Pfizer or Moderna, so the whole process from first shot to full vaccination is only 5 - 6 weeks. Not sure if the protocols are different in the UK, but if you want to crash at my place in Poulsbo, WA while you get your shots, you're welcome! COVID is not to be trifled with even for relatively young people and I would encourage you to get vaccinated ASAP, even if it means a trip back home. I actually really like and appreciate these personal videos about your journey. As someone who traveled for 14 months in 2015 - 2016 and thought about starting a KZfaq channel about family travel then (God, how I wish I had), I can relate. I hope to do it in the future. So I really appreciate you sharing the whole process. This one was particularly honest and complete. You like to keep your content light and positive, but one of the things I like about you is that you're not shallow. I can't stand watching Lost LeBlanc because it's all so perfect and fake. He rarely shows any vulnerability and it just feels smug and entitled to me. Anyway, sorry for the long comment, Paddy. Your video just really engaged me and I had a lot of reactions. Don't let the haters get you down. You have a growing army of loyal fans and supporters and we're behind you all the way. Keep going no matter where it leads. You are awesome.

Love your videos. Please keep it up. During these times when a lot of people are suffering due to the Covid-19 situation, your positive videos make us feel good. There are always negative people out there just because they don't live the way you do. Here in Hong Kong, everything is fine so far, but seeing what's going out there outside of HK is heartbreaking. We really need to count our blessings.
