i was a trooper in the household cavalry back in 1980 1984.. i was on duty at horse guards and i looked up to see my dad there in front of me .. he had come down to London to see me .. never forget it .. RIP dad .. i love you .. and miss you terribly xxx

No matter how old, he’ll always be Mum’s baby. His cheeks turned red when he saw Mum and her sign. She’s so proud her handsome son is a Royal Guard. He will be part of history continuing the Royal Guard tradition. ❤❤

It's a momentum occasion for a mother to capture her son on a ceremonial mounted horse displaying the colour of the regiment and reminding us of the importance of ceremonial duties beside their current role as soldier first. Well done soldier you deserve a medal in being professional and compassionate.

Er sieht noch so jung aus. Es war bestimmt sein erster Tag bei der Wache und er war höllisch aufgeregt. Es kann ja viel daneben gehen, mit einem Pferd und den Idjoten die dort manchmal rumlaufen und in die Zügel greifen und ähnliche Dinge. Da kann eine Stunde manchmal lang werden und so eine kleine Unterbrechung und Unterstützung tut da gut, obwohl es ihn sehr ergriffen hat, hat er die Sympathien der Besucher auf seiner Seite.

It moved him so much to see his mum. He was holding back tears for the whole of the rest of the video. It must be so hard for these young guys to be away from their family and living in barracks for long periods and a surprise visit was really emotional for him. I hope he got some leave to see his mum soon after. :)

My son is a colleague of the Captain of the Kings Guards. They went to the same university and keep in regular touch, meeting yearly. My son lives in California ,Beverly Hills and their friendship has endured over the years.

I realise some people have a defensive or dissonant reaction, when the facts and reality are laid bare in front of them Perhaps, you and others, have never had a relative suffer due to military action. Does not matter the country, branch, or age, when your mom and Dad shows up. The Guard on duty turns into a kid, gives honor to the mother with a smile and " What are you doing here ?" And Mom turns him or her into their 4 year old for just second. A memory that last a lifetime.
