I'm 72 and very well remember Johnny and his career having grown up on the Gulf Coast not far from New Orleans. He wrote this song with a little tutelage from his producer, Lou Addler.

This was the 1st song Johnny ever wrote ( with a little help from his producer Lou Addler ). My wife and I saw him at a Biloxi casino in 2019. He still had the Voice.

Johnny Rivers is criminally overlooked as an artist. This song is indescribably beautiful. He had many great songs: "Sunmer Rain", "Secret Agent Man", "Swayin' To The Music", "Baby, I Need Your Loving", "Memphis", "Mountain Of Love", "Rockin' Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Blues".

Johnny was born in New York, but raised in Louisiana, so that's why he has a Southern accent. Many professionals didn't like him because he covered many songs, but he always sang them his way. He was a good singer who people like to hear. I have his greatest hits album, and listen to it often.

His actual name is Johnny Ramistella. He was born in New York November 7, 1942. He grew up in my hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Baton Rouge High School. The school had a benefit to preserve the building which is an iconic landmark in Baton Rouge in the late 1990s and he came back to play the concert. Awesome performance! Loved your reaction☺️

Because of you tube and channels like yours today's generation is able to hear beautiful music from the past. There is so, so much more for you to listen to. Falling in love meant everything and our feelings were reflected in the songs we listened to. Perhaps life was less complicated then, materialistically speaking, but the quest for love ruled and when two hearts met and fell in love the wonders of life were shared and appreciated especially when they stood arm in arm and looked closely into one another's eyes. Yes, not everything always worked out the way we thought it would and lots of songs told us to cherish those moments and not forget. How many of us remember that special someone from years ago we loved with all our heart and then were separated. Rather than feel sorrow feel the joy of love in those moments and believe your search for love will never die.

Johnny Rivers had a fantastic run making hit after hit in the 60s and early 70s. Although this song in particular is fondly remembered because it was his only big hit that was a ballad. It’s just a beautiful song. But as a guitar virtuoso, he was better known for his rock ‘n’ roll tunes. Check out “Seventh Son,“ and “Secret Agent Man.“ There’s more in his catalog, but those two will get you started. A friend of mine spent his career working in radio, as did I, and he had occasion to meet Johnny Rivers. As a fellow guitar player, they were able to connect in ways most other radio people (like me) would not have. My friend told me that he found Johnny Rivers to be just delightful, and very kind. Somewhat unlike most other rock ‘n’ roll stars we had met in our careers.

Hi, sorry to break this to you, but it was a different Johnny. Johnny Nash sang the Hercules theme. The same Johnny Nash who would have several hits, including I Can See Clearly Now.
