Hi I'm Brian with Next Level Homestead. If this is your first time here... welcome! I'm glad you're here! If you're a longtime friend, welcome back!!
For most of my life I was a city boy, gardening in the suburbs. I was the first generation in my family to not grow up on a farm and somehow it was still there inside me. So now my wife Emilie, son Noah and I have moved to a small farm (at least it will be) and we're documenting our journey on this channel. Building gardens and chicken coops, buying a dairy cow and who knows what else lies in store. But we can't wait to take you with us!
(The link above is an affiliate link. If you purchase through our links we'll receive a small commission that helps support our channel, but the price remains the same, or better for you!)

I'm irritated. I couldn't even make it through the whole video. While I agree with your anger toward the article I find it hypocritical that you did the same thing in the title of this video. There is no way you are quitting gardening since it is your passion and livelihood. You are a good teacher and often have good information. This video was not worthy of you!

Nwo- Revelation under Trumpet 6 like they discussed they wanted to do to force jabs & masks- They must control what we need to live to PUT MAX pressure on us. They are likely paying this guy to “give up”. And you will see many “examples” They want us to follow & “GIVE UP & give in or get that mentality if it’s too hard just quit”. We must never give in and realize they want us to be made READY to give up and OBEY the FALSE MESSIAH and the one world gov He will use force people to worship him to have a job and buy or sell ANYTHING. God said in that time he will provide for us as he did the Israelites/Hebrews he took out of Egypt. It will only be 5 months. We can diet and live free for 2.5 -5 months nc God will be with us in such an important time - Nothing bigger than the last days/months of this age. Everything shows we are literally right in major labor birthing pains - Birth of new age.

This is why I think, it is going to be highly important that people from now on start self learning media literacy from now on, especially when more stuff like this shows up again. A good step would be to purchase some media literacy books, like the media and me; a guide to media literacy for young people, & perhaps whatever else anybody can find, & making sure other people are encouraged to develop their media literacy skills. Because this skill set is going to be highly important to keep people away from being manipulated again!

Fellow cilantro lovers here! There is no possible way that my garden has a higher carbon footprint than mass farming. I use my own goat, chicken, horse manure and worm compost +leaves for fertilizer and soil improvements. I don’t use raised beds. I use bamboo from my land for many things. Very minimal inputs.

I just had my yearly doctor appointment on Thursday and she said that walking and lifting weights was fine but she actually said for me to garden just a bit more than I did last year. She said studies show that gardening uses all your muscles but more importantly that you use your brain more than anything. I'll be turning 67 years old on April 3rd and was so happy to hear my doctor say this concerning gardening.

I believe your doctor is right. I am 75 and have just moved house and started a new large garden. It really does give you something positive to focus on. In Spring when the new buds come it’s magic. Plus others love it too, sitting having a drink in the garden in summer is magic. You have aching limbs sometimes but it is so worth it.

I turned off my TeLievision 5 yrs ago and cancelled cable. The programming we are being bombarded with thru that device should concern everyone. Movie producers exposed how subliminal messages are included bc it’s profitable propaganda. Ppl are waking up to all the government shenanigans. Kids today have the attention span of a gnat, no insult intended but it’s true which is all by design. Today if your message isn’t under 3 minutes, you’ve lost ppls attention, it’s all by design. We have to wake up to this mind control and realize they are manipulating our thoughts and genetically modifying us all. Ppl just want to be happy and be left alone to enjoy life but We have to stand up and push back. They are only 1% of the population so we outnumber these rogue corporations. I have done it myself all my adult life. Just bought a home with a huge yard...back 1/3 was a garden area. Not been in used in over 6 years. I am so excited to get out there and churn up that dirt! It's been raised beds in a very small space for many, many years for me. Thank God I have kept all those jars...gonna fill 'em up and eat good this winter! Can't no government come in and tell this old (69) country gal that they know more than me when it comes to this stuff! You have a good life there...I'll be checking in every now and then. I'm on a very low SSI disability Income in very rural Louisiana with no car or help and growing food is my only way to stay healthy and have fresh fruit and vegetables and get exercise and not get depressed. I refuse to give up hope and eat only rice and beans and sardines. I grow easy things like greens, beans, potatoes, carrots, herbs in pots, soil, and hydro watercress/tomatoes/cucumbers/lettuce plus some okra and plant fig trees and berries. Here we grow all year so I do something daily to stay sane.

I got my own place. I did small gardens and some container gardens. I bought my own home and grew all kinds of vegetables. My daughter and I just moved to a bigger place. I live in an old apartment building. There is a raised bed for gardening made of brick that has probably been there 50 years. I call that sustainable. Now, if only the people (actually one person) who think they are "in charge" of this community garden would learn to compost, or at least turn dead plants under instead of throwing them away, get the free organic "Dillo Dirt" made from wastewater, and not tear up other people's plants, we'd probably be a little better off. I could rant some more about this, but you get the idea.

The study says it's MOSTLY about the infrastructure used and how often the garden doesn't get used for many years before being abandoned or repurposed. So, just USE RECYCLED MATERIALS AND YOU'RE ALL GOOD! And finding such materials is soooo easy, almost anywhere, especially near a city. People will practically pay you to remove their old materials, you can even afford to be picky

I am a 75 yrs old woman. I use to plant straight into the ground. I saw how some used straw bales, so I tried gardening in straw. I love it. There are plants that I see product more than in the ground. I can get, spring, summer and fall crops in one bale. You can grow on top and all four sides. As they break down, ypu can stick your hands in side and feel the rich compost. You can move them where you want them unlike. I made my own grow bags from a good garden material. I grew 196 lbs potatoes from the 20 lbs that I planted in compost from straw. This works for me, I know it's not for everyone. I did have the straw delivered, but I grew almost 400 lbs of food. From a small garden!!!!!

Also flowers save our bees and butterflies etc. I also feed the birds etc. They government is just trying to make the idiots who believe everything (cuz the can't use their brains to research or think for themselves) so more and more people have to depend on the governments telling them what to do how to act etc. DONT SWEAT IT and HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!

Brian these sort of articles and headlines frustrate me too. I will be honest that when 2020 hit I started properly gardening not as an escape, but as a means to help feed my family. I hated the feeling of going to the store with a list of 20 food items and only being able to buy maybe 4 or 5 items. I'm a mom of five kids and I started to really worry about what the future held for my kids (food wise) and I turned to gardening. I had tried 2 or 3 times before and thought I had a black thumb. A few KZfaq videos later I realized what I was doing wrong and how to actually garden and in the process found I love doing it. It was content creators including you who helped guide me and encourage me to try more and to not worry too much about my failures, but rather learn from them. For that I am truly grateful. I also feel like there are those who truly don't want people to be self sufficient and try to use articles to make some people afraid or not want to try, which I think is very sad. I did know you were using click bait (you give up gardening... never) and knew it must be for a reason.

I noticed that the article failed to mention the large macherinery (tractors, combines, trucks, etc) used, the excessive emissions they give off, not to mention the enormous amounts of fuel it takes to run that equipment. So ridiculous...

Right? But cow farts and CO2 are the real problem, not all the poisons being used on our food and fed to the animals we eat. Or our foreign enemies buying up millions of acres of farmland and processing plants.

Their comment was not necessary. You have every right to take a moment to share something that has upset you. The times we are living in are upsetting period. Frankly you did a much better job than most people would have done in expressing a tough moment including and including Mr. Or Mrs. Comment section. Continue on brother. We are standing with you in this. Great video by the way and thank you for sharing your life, thoughts and expertise with us🤗😁🙏

I don't mono-crop my cilantro but every two weeks or so scatter a small number of seeds in a single location somewhere in my beds wherever there's space at that time. Each patch of cilantro grows and is harvested in turn so I have a continuous crop all summer. Any that does bolt is allowed to form seeds. Many folks will harvest the golden brown coriander seeds for kitchen use or for next year's seeds but I like to harvest them green. Simply wash then in a sieve and allow to air dry then freeze them in a jar. The green seeds taste exactly like cilantro and can be used whole or crushed or ground for flavouring or garnish all winter long. Thanks for this video.

Please remember, many of these publications, as well as "news" organizations, are owned by large corporations. They will put out the same, or similar stories in their 20 different newspapers, and you will hear tv hosts spouting the same report, word for word. (late night talk show hosts have a field day with them, lol). My Mom hates cilantro for the soapy taste. My daughter and I taste the soapiness somewhat, but love it regardless🥰 Tip for teaching Daisy to follow on lead: try looping the lead (maybe a longer one) around her butt when she stops and use it to gently pull her forward. This helped my stubborn colt, perhaps it will encourage her along💖🌼

Suggestions: make your garden more secret - put up poles and chicken wire top covered with camouflage netting from military suplus; grow veg among your flower beds; build a movable chicken coop on wheels and move it often to situate under trees, next to hedges etc. This would unfortunately probably only work for small scale family garden but better than nothing if there s no food!

Back in the 70's, when I was a kid, our state decided pine trees were bad so they went around killing off pine forests. We had a Huge one on the mountain opposite from where we lived and they flew right over that mountain and sprayed the entire forest with a crop duster plane. Everything on that mountain died. If 'they' gain enough control and WE are not watchful of what's going on at our state and Federal government levels, that is most likely how they will ensure that we are not gardening.

This is the first time I've seen your channel. I've studied climate change for 20 years now as my farm has been damaged by multiple tornadoes, a massive flood and 2 severe droughts. And other extreme events. Here's what I've learned. Position your farm to meet your weather patterns and how you and your animals are gonna cope with events. There are 100s of scientific papers on the issue. This issue is in a constant state of evolution. Some of these papers may suggest what is seemingly a point but the actuality, things will never go down the way that is suggested. Do not waste your time getting riled up. It's more important to enjoy your life and the positive beauty you are bringing to the world. We counteract the craziness of the world by being solid in who we are and our individual missions. We can't control all that stuff. You can speak out, write in and vote. After that follow your bliss. Your farm is beautiful country living is peace and love. ✌️❤️🙏

As I embrace my garden and have worked hard to get my garden to low maintenance, my neighbours are cutting down large gums and ironbark to develop. I also have been putting in edible natives. The whole idea of growing your own veges etc is to get rid of the amount of chemicals in our food. We give some of our excess eggs to friends and they say they are so delicious compared to store brought. A friend used to work at the egg grading/sorting production line, from them I found out that the eggs in store are at least 3 weeks old before we buy them. I use Charlie Carp and my garden is thriving. Organic farming is the best. Keep farming.

I have made a conscious effort to only use recycled materials in my raised bed backyard garden. I found wood in a bin at a building site, I use pallets that I find and buckets that are thrown away by a local landscaping company. I use a no dig method, have lined my garden with cardboard, ask my neighbors for grass clippings and leaves. I grow only things that I eat, but so far, it's worked well for me. I won't lie, my neighbors were aghast when I first laid out the cardboard...but when they saw the final outcome, they've been nothing but supportive.

I found your primary channel over a yr qgo. I had never tried to grow anything previously. I was in my darkest days after losing my mother and my Dave six months to the day apart as a result of the reaction to the chaos. I took your gardening advice and started my own and have been growing my own fruits/ vegies ever since. I live in Florida so we can do so 365. I can't begin to tell you how cathartic it's been. It began as a hobby... something to force myself to go outside. It's become that and a way to guarantee my family fresh quality food w/o having to rely on things i cannot control. Those who wrote that article understand that the food supply is power and they want to to wield it. I will never allow the powers that be that type of power over me again. I lost too much the last time they squandered their power. Thank you for this and alll of your other videos. Never be afraid to take a stand. You will only regret the times you didn't. .. trust me.

Gardening saved my sanity during lockdowns. I've keep it my passion ever since,. We recently moved from a 9b garden zone to a 4b and decreased my gardening season by more than 1/2, but I don't care. I'll keep at it because I love it so much (last year I grew more vegetables than ever!). I didn't use pesticides or weed barriers. My water comes naturally, from our well. I am learning to make my own compost. They better not even TRY to stop me.

OK, I admit I have not even looked at the data but regardless of where you are on climate change does this claim seem reasonable? Does the idea that growing your own vegies is going to create more CO2 than giant corporate farms that are centered around huge diesel powered machines and oil based fertilizer seem probable? This sounds right up there with the "secure" border and the "greatest economy" ever. This is really the age of gaslighting.

Good Garden tip here: To stop voles from eating root crops like beets, potatoes, carrots...castor oil! Used it last year and only had a couple nibbles. Mix 2 tbsps castor oil (not unscented) per gallon water, add 1 Tbsp castille soap...pour in a drench line around potatoe plants. You want it to soak in, not spray. I made 4 gallons to encircle mine completely upon planting, then repeated 2 weeks prior to harvest. Voles hate the bitterness of castor. Works with hostas too.

i couldn't agree more. I would like to add you also don't need the gas powered tractor to harvest your produce. The answer is less large commercial farms and more small, organic farms. As far as the food factories they want, you know what solar energy is real good for, growing food!

This was the first video I watched of yours despite your encouraging me to start with any other, lol. No regrets. Your point is valid and well presented. I couldn't agree with you more. Getting people to think for themselves or to educate themselves seems to be more challenging these days. Many tend to believe whatever they are told. Especially if it's presented in a way that seems logical or taking what information they encounter first at face value. Keep putting good fact based information out there, and hopefully, in doing so, you'll make a change for the better one viewer or subscriber at a time. I share a similar lifestyle as yourself and have educated myself through many life experiences with my own organic gardening and in being raised in an environment susstained by commercial farming. I've also had a lifetime of interacting with nature in many different ecosystems. So when I agree with you, I do so with a realm of knowledge and personal experience. 😊❤
