Matt, you do remind me of myself. You are just a man who has tried multiple different ventures in your life and put your all into them. But then one day you caught your break with your car business and also here on KZfaq. You talk about what you love most and people love your content! But sadly there are some people out there who just get jealous or wish they could be you and in return are negative about your on comments. IGNORE THEM! Look at yourself 10 years ago, when you wanted to be an actor and look where you are now.... who could have imagined?? You should be very proud of what you have achieved! 😊

I stumbled across one of your 'I bought a cheap xxxx...' videos about 4 months or so ago. At the end of that video, I thought I really like this guy, his demeanour, presentation, wit, style, format, obvious love of cars among other attributes. Long story short, hooked, subscribed, spent many hours going over the history of your channel soaking up the content. And now, I'd say I'm a massive fan and you're honest, upfront and open nature in this video just cements everything I like about you and your channel. I've also found the last couple of years difficult post divorce, lost sight of looking after me and listening to you here has given me a real lift Matt. So, thank you, good luck with shifting the Merc, fingers crossed on the 2 x properties and I reckon you could potentially add 'life coach' to your skill set. You're great mate, change nothing about this channel, it's excellent.

I hear you loud and clear Matt, I had a similar situation in 2021 when I bought my 350 SL, didn't need it, as I own a 280 CLK (W209) but it was my F**k it car, life wasn't great personally, I was going through a tough time. The car always looked great and when I did plan to sell the car, it had served its purpose. Unfortunately people have a perception when they don't know you, quick to judge and pass comments, it's how people use the internet which is the problem. Keep going as you are, I see you as humble with life experience y hables espanol.

I liked this video, it resonated with me. I also bought my dream car (Nissan GT-R) at a worse point in my life for much the same reasons, I needed the money and space to buy a house. I also miss it and I'm not that materialistic but it was a tough decision. Though my situation doesn't seem to have recovered as well as yours, maybe some day. I really enjoy your videos, they are very relatable and genuine - smug or arrogant is not ever something I'd imagine anyone call you.

@@eagleairborne7132thank you for the kind words. I already had a house - but it was the right decision, the car just showcased what I'd worked hard for. Matt, I know it probably took a lot to open up, and that just gives your 'repeat customer' viewers even more of a reason to give you massive respect. You're a breath of fresh air in what - let's face it - is a pretty unpopular profession. That's down to your effort and honesty. The regular mantra of 'I've massively overspent....', the banter with your brother, the lack of macho posturing (clearly your regular mechanic is a woman, a fact that you mention very matter-of-factly), your clearly excellent relationships with the valeters/wheel refurbishers/trim repairers/dent pullers/paint magicians, the road trips to Spain and other places, the goldmine of useful information (from cambelt-change reminders to where to rent electric cars in Bermuda), all give me and many others 101 reasons to watch day after day. Never doubt yourself. Trolls will be trolling.

The trick is to not go overboard with it, particularly when it comes to yourself. Very good is good enough. As I show by watching pretty much everything you put out! @@HighPeakAutos

Sorry to hear about your difficult time, but you got through it and you will do in the future too. The highs and lows are part of what makes us human. On the positive side, money can’t buy happiness - but a sports car can! “Semi-successful” he says. Your beautiful house says very different 😄 but yes, parting with a car is like losing a friend, I got rid of my first car today due to it having 14 advisories on the MOT, it was a 07 fiesta and just wasn’t worth fixing due to the rust. Sad times truly

Nice to see personal insights to be honest Matt, makes the channel stand out a bit more. Sad it's gone, but hopefully you'll get something just as (if not even more) awesome one day!

From the very first video I watched Ive always had the feeling you're a truly lovely bloke and this video confirms it. You break the mold of a 'car dealer' in the best way possible, you deserve every success that comes your way.

Ok your videos made me miss my nightly 930pm scramble to Aldi to get ice cream before they close. Your videos has a human element to it and that is what resonates and transcends beyond the fascination of gears, metal, & horsepower. Cars we own represent something deeper for each person. For dad owning a Mercedes represented the years of hard work whilst raising 4 kids. I saw and felt the joy the car brought to him. He even got a clunker of a jeep which barely went 20 mph as he had one in the Philippines. Covid taught us life is short. Life work balance is important. Mental health is finally talked about. We all go through difficulties. Work hard, play hard and do what makes you feel happy. Looking to buy used Ford Streetka convertible to use this year for the two weeks of summer in UK. Keep your channel real and do you 👍🏻cannot expect those without kindness in them to give it to others. On to next video. ASDA stays open til midnight 😅

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us Matt. I too have had similar issues and while we don’t want anyone to suffer from mental health problems it is important to know you are not the odd one out…❤

What a completely charming video! Love your vids as they give a perspective one never sees. Stunning car and hope you don't regret selling it. I've never recovered from selling a very rare '68 Mazda 1500 SS. Never...

I really enjoy your videos Matt and your genuine honesty as a person is why we all keep watching! Have you thought about doing a ‘behind the scenes’ video showing how you shoot your videos and the kit you use? Keep up the great work!

Your videos are very well done, give a balanced opinion and are not presented in an arrogant or showy way. I recently bought an AMG GT having watched one of your reviews, so you must be doing something right! Sorry to see you have to sell but that's life and no doubt the doors to better opportunities will open in the future. Well done Matt, you come across as a bloke I'd happily have a pint with.👍

Kudos, great candid video Matt. Your transformation shedding 3 stones must have set some record, at least in the local gym. Would never pick up on you having low self-esteem. Your dry one-liners are ace 😂. I further agree with you that the GT-S is one helluva well-designed sportscar. The only beef I have with Merc is that they do not offer a stick option for real driver enthusiasts. Finally glad to see you in this video in a much more athletic driving posture 👌Not completely Vicky Henderson-Butler but much improved from the sloughing Caddy position, but I get it you are a laidback guy, only working 24/7. Around 8:00 in you even move your hands on the wheel and look like a racecar driver. Finally would love to see you try to auction the car on Collecting Cars. With some advertising, I am convinced you would attract the highest bidder since everybody knows they will purchase a car that is meticulously maintained plus provenance..

Certainly feel the need to look after myself line, now that I am getting married very soon! Think I mentioned I started my own business and you've been a great inspiration behind that and to keep going with it. Its going well, A LOT better than expected, it needs to do a lot better so not out of the woods by any stretch but Its great to see what you have achieved and living a boyhood fatasy with the GTS - Modern day E-Type! While I may never get to that point I am very hopefuly I'll be able to support myself for many years to come!

Hey Matt, you definitely aren't arrogant you're inspiring I remember whatching your first videos like should buy a freelander 2 over the course of those years devoleped to a brilliant presenter confident and humorous. Remember its okay to not be okay it takes a lot to admit it you've worked on yourself and come better at the end of it!

Appreciate the honesty, I remember a prior vid where you spoke of "imposter syndrome" or similar and thought then, oh he's deeper than you might think! The dry northen delivery might come off to unfamiliar folk as condescending but the irony and self depreciation is there isn't it 😉 good luck with the sale and the road ahead.
