Once distortion is involved the difference between humbuckers is minimal as fuck

It does start to mask things quite a bit. Potentially high gain can emphasize the low end of a clean DI but that all does get buried in a mix almost entirely. 😮

its amazing how good that fender sounds

Oh yes!! It sure is. A bit of tuning instability but needs some fine tuning overall. 😊

And looks! I love brightly coloured fender guitars, they've just got a vibe to them

I'm all for not gasing about stuff too much, but these too actually sound different imo.

btw I don't mean the the difference is huge, just that there is a difference

Yes they do! I wasn't too clear on my point. Generally people say Gibson is fat and Fender is bright. In this comparison the Fender was the fatter sounding one. Does not need glue necks, tonewoods, nitro lacquers, abr bridges etc. I love all those things but they're not necessary for "that sound". Also on the clean sound samples how hard I pick varies quite a bit which messes up the comparison a bit.

I would be curious to hear the same guitar with two different scale :)

This is actually something I did too and likely will be video coming out soon!

Fender still sounds more jangly, Gibson still sounds more chunky. A sample in a mix would be interesting, if this would be more prominent or less prominent.

The Fender was actually the darker sounding one here. Just to be clear check what I say after the first A/B. ;)

I was randomly going through the video and I heard for some seconds the Gibson and thought "Man, this Les Paul sounds a bit like a Strat", happy to know I wasn't crazy ahah

The Les Paul was the brighter sounding one. That's how I can tell them apart. 😊

2:32 Yeah while watching I noticed that the audio and video weren't in sync. It got me wondering how you get the audio and camera feed in sync?
@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab 6 ай бұрын
Yup there was a few bits where the audio didn't sync up with the video because the audio was reversed. Obviously it had to be planned to be this way for it to work like it does in the video but it's difficult to make it look perfect. Anyways - the point was that very likely because of the shorter scale the Fender is the fatter guitar out of these two. :)

Ok I get an idea. In not too distant future, you release newest amped amp sim based on Mark IV. After a user uses it for 72 hours then it will open a hidden video. In it, you say apologize because this amp sim isn't based on Mark IV, but it's actually a Fluff 7. Then the amp sim will change its interface to a fully Mark VII amp sim.

But... everyone knows the Mark IV is better than any other Mark series amp. Way better than even an OG IIC+. I've literally compared them side by side. 😄

What is the distance from the bridge to pole pieces in that fender?

My biggest issue is trying to play neo soul/jazz stuff with my musicman or strat, its so noisy, its insufferable. Honestly Ive tried DI Box, bought premium cables, changed my setup 3 times, nothing can kill the buzz T_T
@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab 6 ай бұрын
That buzz might even be something else than that hum. I get a lot radiation noise mostly from my computer. Way more of an issue than the actual hum of the single coils. 😮
@thedarkflowkiller
@thedarkflowkiller 6 ай бұрын
Yeah I thought about that as well, I'm not sure how to deal with it. Maybe put my sound card super far from the PC ? haha@@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab
@mlsoundlab 6 ай бұрын
Super easy way to check if your computer is the cause - point your guitar away from your computer (especially if you have a perspex/glass side panel), and see if the noise changes. I'd recommend working through some troubleshooting steps like this from easy to hard; -Try different guitars to see if it's a shielding/grounding issue -Rule out the monitors and their cabling by trying headphones -Move a few meters away from the recording setup to see if it's EMI -Strip back to just the essentials in your set up - unplug everything except your PC, interface, and headphones -Check for dirty power by trying your setup in another room All sorts of things you can do like this to try and narrow it down - it's not a particularly easy process, but for the most part, it's free to troubleshoot these things. -Kai

actually i tried facing away few weeks ago and yes, it does reduce a LOT of hum and noise, but doesnt fix it entirely :) @@mlsoundlab I'll try your ideas tomorrow ! thanks for taking the time my guy !
