unrelated comment here... i don't know why but you have to grow a mustache. When the video started, for a second I thought you had a mustache and it looked cool 😂

Two things are the key elements that nothing sounds like a Les Paul: Nr.1. is the 24.75 scale lenght Nr.2. Is the placing of the bridge pickup so close to the bridge!

Understandable take, what brands would you consider to have a good price:performance ratio? -Kai

Cheapest Gibson in the Thomann is 1500€. Any guitar of any brand for 1500€ is more value for the money.

Mikko chiming in - any guitar built in an expensive country will have a hefty price tag. Gibson is only made in the US and US made guitars generally are all around that price point. Low priced US made guitars tend to really be the worst price point - you tend to pay for the US-ness and get low end parts and features. 😢 What is "good" is also a matter of opinion. There are brands that I personally don't have any interest in that other people love to play and they make amazing music with those tools.

people need to learn to use the polepiece screws on these neck humbucker to get more brighter tones from it.

But when you play a Les Paul, it has his name on the headstock. Same with Fender. Same with any Paul Reed Smith. Does it make you look like their fanboy? Probably, not. Same with signature models. Those artists contributed in making that instrument, that's why their name is on the headstock. But that doesn't mean that only their music can be played on those guitars or that you are their fanboy or whatever. John Mayer or Mark Holcomb or Steph Carpenter helped design those guitars the same way Les Paul did way back in early days of electric guitar. That's how I think of it. All that matter is that if the guitar feels great, sounds good and looks awesome. If these 3 components are there, I don't really care whose name is written on the headstock. Example - I have a Schecter PT Fastback. PT stands for Pete Townshend, I think. I don't listen to his music nor I don't even know how the guy looks. I love the way it feels/sounds/looks and thanks Pete for designing it this way, but the rest is my story with that instrument. :)

It’s a hard comparison to judge off isolated bass tracks. SPB-3 sounds great, but the stock Fender pup holds its own in a band mix better. It’s harder to make out exactly what the bassist is playing with SPB-3’s in a full band, because it scoops the mids. Still a cool pick up, p-basses generally sound way different solo vs in a mix though.

The scale length to use depends on if you play in a band and where each instrument lives in the mix and whether an instrument plays short notes or longer droning notes.

The way the guitar looks is the most important part. They cost enough money that I want to be excited about the way it looks. I want to see it on the wall enticing me to pick it up. Although, I i think it goes without saying that it must also play and feel good, or it just ends up being another guitar you sold.

I have pickups coming soon for a guitar project that is looking forward to those pickups, not to change the tone so much as to change the look of the axe. This guitar has one of the cheapest sets of pickups in the world, but they sound really good. Sound wise, they could stay, but I like for my guitars to look different after I've done things to them. That's THE reason this time.

You know you can change the tone by adjusting the pole peices as well as the pickup height.

Any chance Mikko2 can be ported from macOS to iPad? Seems like that’s becoming a more and more viable platform for music making. I’d love to have it there

It's really just about the item being tangible - the real cabinet is in the room with me, while the MIKKO2 plugin simulates the sound of a recorded cabinet. -Kai
