Nice work! As an owner of a thumper (single cylinder bike) that has a semi automatic transmission similar to the Honda Cub unit shown in the video, it is a pleasure to see your craftsmanship.

I can't wait to see it work. U engines rob power but are well balanced engines. The primary and secondary harmonics are nearly cancelled. It should have minimal vibration and be capable of reaching higher rpms than the stock engines..

I see 3 potential mistakes, One is when he milled the head flat, he should've shaved the head in a continuous motion, not change from an X pass to a Y axis pass, it have to do with the milling head alignment that is not always perfect. Another potential mistake is using one carb for both heads, if he intend to offset the timing like he seems to it could end with an uneven mixture between both sides. A third one will be if there's no oiling to one of the cylinder heads. Nice build though I hope it works at the end.

Honda made oval pistons to fit more valves without increasing the bore in a 4 cylinder engine. The NR500 was a V4, with 8 valves per piston, and with two connecting rods per piston. I bet you couldn't… (the street version was the NR750, which also had two rods per piston & oval bores, but elliptical pistons instead of straight sides)

would help if you knew what you were on about in the first place, it was built because more than 4 cylinders was banned in racing and the only way Honda could hope to compete with the 2 strokes was building a V8, as that wasn't allowed they came up with the closest thing to a V8 the rules allowed, the whole concept was a massively expensive failure as well and if Honda failed how the hell is a fella in a glorified shed supposed to make one?

@@andyc750 I don't know, but he might. He did just stick two crank cases together. And yes, that was to get a v8 down to the mandated 4. The reason why Honda wanted 8 was more valves. Otherwise they would have used 4 round pistons.

Oh boy do I have an idea for you ! What do you think of adding a pair of fly-wheels with a common bearing journal between them in the middle of a Harley Davidson V-twin to off-set the cylinders and give each it's own crank-pin so both pistons can be at TDC (top dead center) at the same time ? You could have the world's first Harley that doesn't sound like one or have balancing issues. Now wouldn't that just piss everybody off ? LOL
