Another driver with Wiedmeyer hauls my GoPro to get great shots of Orwell hauling the fire truck heading to Kuwait. After that I meet "Karen The Manager"... Literally. I guess had a stopped, got fuel and pulled forward to get my drinks I would have been OK... FYI, I've yet to return.

The problem is the number of clowns that feel it’s proper for them to take their 30 minute break in front of the pumps. As the manager, I’m sure she’s been bitched at by many drivers, that have been stuck behind a guy doing just that. She certainly could have handled it somewhat different though.

When you fuel, you pull up and park beyond the fuel pumps to run in and grab your receipt, maybe a drink, or use the restroom. It takes around 10 minutes to get fuel, so if the trucker behind you is getting fuel, as long as you're in and out in 10 minutes you're not holding anyone up. I've never had anyone tell me not to park like he did if I was just going to run in, take a leak, grab a drink and go. Also, it doesn't seem like this is a busy truck stop (I wonder why) if he is able to just swing in and pull through the fuel island.

@@WilC379 every pump was full and the manager said it was busy because it was 2pm... him being there makes it harder to get out of the other pumps. I drove trucks for about 40 years off and on and I know the problems you have or at least similar problems with managers, supervisors, receivers, shippers and others including the DOT and revenue making cops. Some people get a little authority and it goes to their head. Those don't usually want to know anything except that you will comply with their instructions. Like you I wouldn't go back again! BTW, I'm into my 83rd year now and have managed fleets of trucks, given road tests, hired drivers and I would be extremely proud for you to have been part of my management. You are one of the best drivers I've seen!!!

I'm with the manager on this one. I've been stuck behind morons who confused the refueling area for a rest stop. It sucks. 5 minutes or 55 minutes really is the same. Unless you're pumping fuel in the tanks, get your rig the fuck out of there. Park it in a designated area and go do your business. I see a lazy and entitled trucker here and a manager who possibly got one too many earfuls from disgruntled drivers blocked by "five-minuters" and stood up to one of them.

She didn't know he was only going to be a min. its her job to keep the islands open and moving, beside when did pulling 20 feet a head of the fuel island become parking lot, I myself haven't seen one. @Flunkerdunk
@Flunkerdunk 3 жыл бұрын
@@brucewalkerwalker1308 You can't defend the manager from people's assumptions, yet make assumptions in the same paragraph about somebody else. I'm going to borrow your logic from you, with all respect. He (the driver in this video) didn't plan on parking there for more than 10 minutes. It is generally okay to pull far enough for the next truck to fuel and go inside to pay/grab a few shelf items. To answer your question about parking: It never became a parking space, but it became fairly acceptable to spend just a handful of minutes to adjust your truck, buy something, or whatever... when they started putting "stop lines" that indicate you pulled up far enough for the next truck to spend his 10 minutes or so fueling.

@@brucewalkerwalker1308 Why does you saying something a month ago matter? To you, it was a month ago. To me, this was something I read pretty recently. If you don't want somebody replying to your comment, then remove it. I'm not trying to be rude but if I can still reply to your comment, it isn't invalidated. Now, you are partly correct in regards to "running it anyway she wants". In terms of kicking the driving out, sure. Depending on if it is co-owned or part of a chain... that can be very different. That being said, you can always fuel up at another station and that would be fair. Personally, I'd install pump timers of shame.

Parked my pickup once in a diesel island. Fueled up and then went in to get a sandwich and look at the map. After a couple of minutes, an employee came over and asked me to move my truck saying there was a complaint. I went out expecting a bunch of big rigs in a hurry, but instead found a single crappy car that apparently ran on diesel containing a many years retired ex prom queen who hadn't quite given up her trade. She'd turned her car around and parked directly in front of me even though there were 13 other available pumps with the most obnoxious look on her face I'd ever seen. I had a habit that I stuck with, if they wouldn't listen and didn't treat me right they heard about not getting any of my money and never would. I've only been off the big road about a year but there are truck stops and major ones at that that I haven't stopped at for 10 years because of poor treatment. LOL you come across 'Karen's' everywhere, the best one I witnessed was whilst going in a car with my friend he saw some of his utility workers busy digging a hole to fix an emergency fault that happened to be right outside someone driveway. We pulled up got out and looked into the hole, the workers spoke with my friend about the problem, and that they had already been in contact with the home owner and he was fine about it. Just then a Karen walk up and starts talking to, saying that they have been there all day (they had only been there 30 minutes) and that they where blocking 'her' driveway and about how she was going to get hold of there manager, so as a bit of fun I shouted down to the workers that they better give her there managers number, after they look at me a bit confused they realized what I was say and gave her the manager (my friend) number and she rang it immediately. When my friends number rang he answered it and said 'yes I know all about it, the should only be about 1/2 an hour and we have been in contact with the driveway owner and he is fine about it as we are fixing a fault with the utility'. Karen just huffed and walked off.

I’m local to that truck stop. The way the pumps are designed, you will be blocking the guy from the right from getting out. There just isn’t enough pull forward area there. I suggest the KT one exit south. That you can pull through and not block others from leaving.

I use the 10 min rule.. The fuel truck clean the windows and empty your garbage takes about 10 minutes,15 if your a bit fluffy, but I'll never go past 15 mins. Now if it's late at night and there's nobody in the fuel lines I will use the last fuel line and not really worry about it. Some of the worst companies for taking their 30 minute breaks and fuel Lanes and not giving a s***. CRST= ABSOLUTELY the worst, I lost count of how many of their drivers I had a smack upside the head after they got mouthy. CR England- most of the time they're pretty polite if you ask him to move. Fed Ex- just complete idiot's on or off the road they don't speak a lot of English, but they all seem to understand that crowbar. I’ve grew up around tractor trailers. I literally have been around trucks since I was born. My grandfather before the end of his life, had a lot of trucks. He was working for the mills in Johnstown pa. He was literally getting paid 24/7 to have trucks available at all times. I was dropping and hooking since I was able to reach the peddles. I would love to make a change and work for you. My dad forgot more about trucking then I will probably ever know. It’s in my blood. I love your content and videos. I can’t stand the fact that you have to explain how to shift without a clutch. I grew up knowing that and only that. In fact I worked for the state and I almost didn’t get the job because I couldn’t double clutch. I can now. I taught myself quick but still. I agree with you. I honestly wouldn’t drive a truck with an automatic transmission. I’d not take the job over having an automatic. I’m not taking 80000 plus down over a huge grade and relying on a truck or computer to keep me safe. I refuse it. Keep up the content and please get in touch if your the slightest bit interested. Keep it up! No matter what I’ll be a loyal viewer snd subscriber.

Having said all that, I've eaten breakfast in my my truck, in the parking lot facing the fuel island, many times. And although you might have been in and out quickly, many many drivers sit there for a long time. There is a kwik trip with truck parking just down the road from there if you want.
