I have used a tiny plane for trimming edging square! It still takes some care, but its much easier!

Hi Gene, great job on the laser enclosure. Also looks like a good place to store the laser engraver in when not in use! Yes, I like the link KZfaq added. Good job, God bless! PS loved the ending with the pizza! Looks like a fine young man!

Nice project! I'm getting a laser engraver and I'm searching some enclosures to copy :) A little tip on the edge tape, it is easier to keep it intact if you shear it with the blunt edge of the knife, instead of cutting with the sharp edge.

The angle clip were your best idea. Gluing MDF is not secure because MDF just shreds at the glue joint. It does not even hold a screw very well. Edging Is best cut with an edge trimmer made for that application.

Did you get the plastic from Norva Plastics, or did they just do the bending? Can you put a link to the plastic sheet as well?

I enjoyed your video. I often "learn as I go" with using unfamiliar materials. It's great that you make a point of eye and ear protection, but what about your lungs. Particle board dust is nasty. Pardon me if someone has already mentioned this. Finished project looks great! Even with the educational chips. :-)
@DIYGene

You are right. I definitely use it with MDF but particle board is just as bad. Thanks for watching.

Turned out functional even with few mishaps - I think you always think oh i could have done something different once you complete a project I agree the white edge strip is no fun without a proper trimmer i resorted to a sharp blade the draw filing T-Moulding would be another option - it provide a robust edgeing - it fit into a slot cut in the edge Just a Question Is the orange plastic you used a special type or just a special color tint plexiglass/acrylic
@DIYGene
@DIYGene Жыл бұрын
I really wish I would have used T molding. The plastic is just a translucent color that matches the glasses and the shelf of the laser. But I feel it works well. Thanks for watching.

It is 1/2”. Sorry I should have made that clear. Thanks for watching.

Could that orange plexiglass block the laser's light? Is it certified for that scope?
@DIYGene
@DIYGene 8 ай бұрын
No, it is not certified. But it creates the same effect as the orange certified glasses. But it is at your own risk. You may be able to find some that is certified. Thanks for watching.

What size was the acrylic sheet? And where was the bend?
@DIYGene
@DIYGene 9 ай бұрын
It is 1/8” thick 24” wide and 20” tall with a 90 bend at 8”. Giving you an 8” front and 12” top. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

lol, I had so much fun watching this with your "dumb idea" comments. Mistakes are learning moments and you could have made a completely new video but instead you chose to show them, that's gutsy, lol. BTW, did you make that music tune? Thanks for the video Gene, always fun learning new stuff with your sense of humor. Hugs from Belgium, Daniella.
@DIYGene
@DIYGene Жыл бұрын
Thanks Daniella, I defiantly made this project much harder than it needed to be. But in the end I did end up with a very usable enclosure and maybe helped a few folks with not making my mistakes LOL. Yes I put the music together in GarageBand, I hope it's not too obnoxious. As always thanks again for watching.
