This reminds me of my time growing up in Kerala. As a born Hindu I was taught to hate Hindus and look up to Christian values and left policies. It's never explicit but you imbibe that hatred from Christian educational institutions (a majority there) schools, teachers and friends and some times even from your own family.

Hats off you bro. Please spread awareness among so called secular Hindus of kerala! I am from WB and I know how dangerous communist and Marxists are!!! They want to divide Hindus and try to make them ultra secular. Where as they never condemn radical Islamists. These communists supported demand of Pakistan of Muslim league. People often say there is no place for politics of religion in Kerala. But can they say why still today Muslim league is winning election in Kerala with the flag of mostly pakistan?? So secularism is only for Hindus and that's what communists want! This is high time for people of kerala and they must open their Eyes! Otherwise it will be too late!!!

Me a Hindu a Liberal, also had a mindset like Khalid. Not exactly like but didn't disliked them. Thought they should be given chances. Such mentality is okay. Sure wasn't anti hindu but progressive. Had Bhakti but accepted excessive criticisms. ....Woke up only few years ago. Now I know how stupid I was Used tl think myself as intellectual just because I read certain magazines, newspapers and believed in some ideology. Now I read from diverse sources. Esp Hindutva . I may be sound extremist but facts don't care about feelings. Kindly go through Kiran hadis and Sunnah for once. There is no moderate in ilsam. This guy is just acting up and infiltrating in RW. Ask him if he chooses constitution above Kiran. If he says says he is not a Muslim bcoz it's written in Kiran that the authority of Quran is above a books. Hindu hardliners should listen to him too. Am Hindu myself and my Muslim friends are very like him. We rarely talk about such subjects. They're just normal people. Media, internet specially, politicians emphasize the negative. India is equally unsafe for ALL (except the very rich who can hire private security)! That's a reflection on the law and order. It takes guts to be a moderate Muslim like him. So kudos for your courage. If millions like you become vocal, you can defeat the power of Muslim hardliners. They feed off fear.

And yes they might be afraid but It’s not easy to come out or talk openly about such issues. I personally haven’t met any Indian muslim who has said anything against India but on social media I see a lot of them.

It is imperative that Indian education system teaches critical thinking and logical reasoning right from Class VI as part of school curricula. Like Khalid, my eyes were also opened by reading Arundhati Roy's garbage - but by that time I was in my late 20s when I finally learnt (and unlearnt) how to think and not what to think. Better late than never I suppose. Thanks Khalid for your views.

We also need to introduce aspects which are away from mental academics. The way that builds character, nothing else builds. I mean like in a gurukul, kids used to do work at their level, help run the place, have a sense of responsibility, belongingness and learn through actual physical action about not just academics but about life, relationships, pain, joys, compassion, experiential learning about non-academic subjects. How to actually live & be alone & with others.

This is great, but let's not get carried away, the definition of "Kafir" still remains and accepted by almost all Muslims. However, what this does is gives us hope, hope that there are some on the other side who aren't swept by propaganda, agenda but can see the reality, are pragmatic and that they might spread the same realism and pragmatism within their community.

"Baig" is a Turkic surname of a soldier; which means that Khalid Baig's forefather was a Turkic soldier who was given refuge in Kashmir after fleeing from Mongols in 14-15th century CE and then married a Hindu woman. Also means that he is a 15th generation Muslim, and has most likely less than 2% Turkic ancestry, while considering that the Turkic soldiers were men only and only a few hundred who were given refuge.

Khalid is a well informed guy. The way he described Bengal situation is 100% correct. Mamata Banerjee has created a fascist government by every standard. Rival political leasers were given false murder-arm-marijuana cases, coerced into joining TMC, once they join the cases would be dropped or enquiries stopped. If someone leaves TMC, new cases would be initiated against them. Mamata personally stopped advertisement funding to at least three newspapers (Statesman, Anandabazar etc.) until they fire respective editors who used to criticize the TMC government. Then she installed stooges from film industry background in those news outlets. You will not find as much as a single strong criticism of Mamata government in any Bengali editorial (even if there is minor criticism, it will be full of flattery in other aspects). And people call Modi government fascist, as if whenever others do the same thing, it is all fine. The fact is that, throughout history of this independent country, every political party did this sort of things time and again in one way or another. One should certainly point out faults, but saying that this has all started all of a sudden after Modi assumed power is a complete falsehood and such agenda-driven people should be called out openly.

Being a neutral party, I always thought that why can't people see their surroundings, why are they influenced by news so much, how is India like Taliban, using the name of Shami or Siraj to show our love and respect and indifference, it feels bad.. I always had this feeling why don't the muslim community introspect instead of calling themselves religion of peace.. As Hindus/Jains, most of us care less about our own religion, why would we have hatred towards others, but one thing which we love is our culture and from lord Ram to Maharaja Ranjit Singh to Shivaji Maharaj, they are our culture irrespective of religion.. And not only Shami and Siraj but Zaheer Khan and Brigadier Usman Khwaja, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan are our heros without any doubt.. I as a Jain feel lucky to have been born in India with such a diverse culture and a much accepting and respectful majority community..

diversity in terms of languages, in terms of looks, in terms of outlook, in terms of food etc; is the uniqueness and strength of India but all the persons residing in this region from Indus River and Burma Border have same Indian values which are democratic, accepting, respecting others and there feelings.
