------------------
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

@Antares There was no need for you to put them down. Kara and Nate are great! They have a different vibe than Bald does, but that doesn't make them "generic", just different. Some are for bedtime, some I can only watch when I’m not feeling down, some I watch when I’m sad, etc. This Kara and Nate channel I can watch anytime, anywhere, which is rare for me. Years ago I got bumped up to first class on a trip to France. I was the only one of my group who was. It was an extraordinary experience. Some 35 years later I flew to Taiwan with my husband, who’d been invited to address their war college. It too was so special. We were pampered! On the way back we had to change planes in Honolulu. We were kept in our first class status-but the American company’s notion of first class was hardly equal to the business class experience passengers had on my earlier flights. I am sooo spoiled, but there won’t be another such break. Very grateful!

I had a friend who literally purchased everything using her Amex. Of course, she had the money for it and would pay her bills on-time, but this way she was able to accumulate a wicked amount of points that she could use for other things, rather than just paying for everything in cash and having nothing extra to show for it, other than a lack of debt. She didn’t buy frivolous things, just necessities and like I said, she paid all her Amex bills on-time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Nate, but I believe the SSSS ticket marker is a signal for a random screen selection for extra security measures rather than flagging you personally as a security threat. My wife and I travel and have occasionally had this privilege which generally is only for that 1 person on that 1 day, and doesn't affect future travel (unless they were to find something suspicious, of course). Thanks to you and Kara for your travel videos! You helped us pull through the pandemic and we've been traveling more than ever thanks to your inspiration!

Yes that’s correct. I used to work as a ground staff for an international airline. The 4 SSSS is randomized screening.
@born2fish00
@born2fish00 2 жыл бұрын
The SSSS is based in part on an algorithm of potential red flags and can be caused from a combination of factors such as the risk profile of the route you are on, the previous places you have been to recently, a number of short visits to different countries, and your demographic profile etc. I have had the SSSS a few times before, and can confirm it does not stick with you. Wear the SSSS as a "badge of honour" as it usually means you are a well travelled road warrior. FYI - the airline check in staff cannot remove this flag.

@@born2fish00 I was shocked when I had the SSSS leaving Iceland in 2017. I was shocked since I had Global Entry, Military Veteran and Current Federal Government Employee. I do NOT think my was “random” I was questioned when I arrived at the airline. I was on the line and was questioned while waiting to check in by security. I get my ticket and didn’t know I had the SSSS on my ticket until I went to the board the flight. I went to board the flights. The SAME lady that questioned me on the line while I was on the line. Was the SAME lady now at the gate. As soon as I gave her my passport and ticket. There was a ringing. Then someone has took my passport from the agent and my ticket. They told me to step this way. I was shocked, since they had my passport, they told me to an area to the side to be checked. They had me step on a box and then they searched me. They checked the bottom of my boots with bomb residue. They checked my hands.!I was flying Economy and purchased food. They checked my food.

One thing about the travel cards Nate did not mention, you have to spend a certain amount of $$$$ within 6 months to get the travel rewards he is speaking about. They don't *deserve* ANYTHING let alone business and first class. They are lucky and spoiled enough to have to have no job and travel the world for 6 years. Plus, what also really bothers me is they don't even take in culture. Museums and churches and castles and historic landmarks are too boring for them and too long to wait in line. The Louvre or the Vatican...nah...too much time. Like seriously?!?! That's the whole point of travelling...not doing eating tours which is all they seem to do. I haven't learned a thing from their videos and I've been to Europe a few times and have seen 10x as much as they have. And there's no way these people are making $300k+ a year off KZfaq ro fly around the world nonstop for 6 years and fly business class constantly and always have lounge access.

@@kelseyk530 can i just ask, why does the fact that someone else does something different then you would do it. make you so mad? people can have different interests and that is oke. i wouldnt go to the Louvre eather. it just doesnt have my interest and there is in my option way cooler stuff to see. they do a lot with taking in culture. they communicate A Lot to the local people that live there. they climb mountains. thats their interest. and food is also a big big part of culture. that is something that they love to explore. if you travel your not forced to do it their way. their way is just different then how you would do it. it is not necessarily made as education these videos. so saying you have not learned from them is also ok. there are a lot of travel youtubers maybe there are some who do give you what you seek? i am in no way trying to attack you. i just wanted to let you know. spending your energy on the anger you feel about their way of life. only cost you so much. wish u a nice day ^^

Kelsey K Kara and Nate have worked EXTRAORDINARILY hard for what they have now. Your comment clearly tells me that you have not even bothered to watch any of their previous videos because they are all about immersing themselves in the local culture. Joining Holy in India, throwing tomatoes in Spain for an annual tradition, and any pf the local food tours they have participated in, do those not count as cultural? They have even slept in capsule hotels to save money so they can keep traveling. You can watch any of their videos and they will tell you how they accessed the lounge or was able to be upgraded or was able to afford their tickets: travel hacking. You clearly didn’t even watch this video because he even explains how he was able to book this First Class seat. You can go to their video they did when they traveled to Rome and how they saved a ton of money and was able to buy cheap business class tickets. Their video in the earlier years about how Nate did a mile run so he could afford the first year of travel, by gaining status and miles so they wouldn’t have to pay as much. If you are going to be ignorant, at least do some research.

I have been doing this for years but important to remember to cancel the card before 12 months so you don’t get stuck with the annual fee. Also important to know that every time you get a new card or cancel a card it does affect your credit rating. If anyone has different information I would really appreciate hearing it. I just love these two….what an adventure they have been on!

Your videos seem effortless! I'd love to see a "MAKING OF" video: you setting up the camera and then coming back in frame to show us your "first" impression, holding the camera out in front of you as you walk along or placing it on the street when your van drives away, and then you coming back to retrieve it, all the running back and forth you have to do, all the time and footage you have to sort through ... you have the magic down! (throw a beat). There is so much that goes into what you do that we never see. Thank you for all you and Kara share; I appreciate your authenticity and enthusiasm. Do you see them in a video...nooooo...They are just speaking their minds, KZfaqrs are aware of this knowing not everyone will share the same views....I like Kara and Nate but they are adults not 15 year olds. So stop attacking people in the comment section, that is why there is a comment section. Many KZfaqrs need corrective criticism to make their channels better...Baha haaaaa!!!!

So happy for you guys! You definitely deserve it and have come a long way since your early days travelling. It's so hard to film yourself, edit the videos with no real professional experience, put yourself out there and risk all your money doing it in the process. But you just kept at it and have improved so much that now you should be proud to call yourselves professionals. The comfort we all want from a secure job and a home and the fear of failure trying to follow your dreams is why we all don't take that plunge but the ones that do have more guts than anyone and deserve to enjoy their success. Lots of respect and love to you both! ❤
