Time lapse of my most recent oil painting landscape, where I paint a realistic foggy/misty forest.
I am an artist residing in Washington State! My paintings are heavily inspired by nature and its beauty. I work primarily in oil paint, and sometimes watercolor. I prefer to work in a mostly realistic style and occasionally experiment outside of that. I post oil painting time lapses, painting lessons and tutorials, drawings, art tips, and occasionally artist vlogs where I share bits of my life as an artist. Creating art is my greatest passion and I'm thankful for the chance to share it with you. ♥

Makes me emotional too. I've never seen a painting that resonates "home" so perfectly to me. There are lots of pretty forest scapes, but those are often warm toned greens. The cool tones and atmospheric perspective+ fog really make me feel the cool crisp air of being in Oregon. And the nostalgic enduring overcast hues.

Yup! Time lapse tends to give the impression that you are "The Flash'", when it's really very time consuming. I've done pieces that took months and it is a labour of love. Your layering is very inspiring to watch. And your subliminal details with the light source are eye candy. Thank you for sharing this piece Lena. Keep flowing!!

Thank you very, very much for being so honest about the time lapse and how long and arduous a painting can really be. I have watched some time lapse things from other artists and used them for tutorials (because that us how they are presented - for tutorial type style) and quite honestly, it was so frustrating and disappointing that I couldn't create a painting at that pace, that I stopped painting for awhile - more than once. I thought there was something wrong with me. But your honesty has been an inspiration to get going again on that painting that has been sitting unfinished for so long. I thank you. Also - your painting is truly beautiful!

I am an actual coach painter by trade and covered many aspects of painting with oil based, spirit based paints. I have started actually trying some subject painting and imagined I would be able to just walk into working with oils. I am absolutely lost in comparison. I bought a set of 12 colors, some thinner and dryer and failed compared to the acrylic paintings I have been happy with. I love the way you have arranged your pallet and your work. Thanks for sharing.

Great inspiration. I live in Australia and our forests are very different. They are eucalypt forests (a shorthand descriptor) but also very varied from high to low country, plus incredible Gondwanaland animals and birds (ours are more ancient than the forests you have in the Northwest). But all forests have things in common and those things are always special, almost mystical, and inspiring. Any painting moving from background to foreground is exciting, time consuming and requires skill. It is, as I said, inspiring to see how you work and I loved the outcome. It reminds me of walks/hikes I've done in the Northwest many years ago. I can also totally understand Ivan Shishkin as an influence - I thought of him too quite soon into your painting 🎨😊

I'm from Oregon but just moved. I miss these views so much. It makes me sentimental and think of my grandma. (Grandparents live in the forest. I used to watch all the forest animals and go on hikes there too. So peaceful.) I'm an oil painter as well, portraiture focused. But I think I may need to take inspiration from you and dip back into landscape. I need a piece of home on my wall. Thank you for the fond feelings and inspiration. 💕

Great painting. Love your palette of colours. You captured the light and the darkness of the forest.
