This looks sick, I can't wait too give it a go. Thrilled that it's still coming out since before recently almost no news has dropped. In terms of me playing the older Metal Slug games I've got a tiny amount of experience, those games had a level of charm that isn't seen a whole lot now days and this game seems to capture that.

made it 3/4 way through the video, downloaded it, beat it on the second try, loved it. Your explanation made me grasp the game better so i was able to understand turtling was a bad idea. Looking forward to playing more and giving the devs feedback

I love the tactical game/rpg renaissance we've had the last few years. I played real time strategies throughout the nineties and 2000s but my introduction to the tactical genre was probably FF Tactics Advance. Loved that game!

dude! thank you! Completely forgot about demo. Downloading it now! Wana hear a random fun memory of mine with metal slug? When I was about 10 (so thats about 25 years ago ahem...) my brother and I were in an arcade and dad gave us some coins to spend. He gave us quite a lot because he had nothing smaller on him (10 pounds!) so we were stoked! We went straight to the metal slug arcade machine and began playing. LOVED it and as we got further and further (we had a lot of coins) more and more people began gathering around us because we made so much progress the regulars had not seen the later stages in the game. We actually BEAT the game right there and everyone started clapping. We were just kids but actually beating metal slug in an arcade surrounded by about 10 random strangers at that age felt pretty great. Just a random story for you. Keep up the great content!

looking forward to this game. will probably jump into this once it's out. just currently playing marvel ultimate alliance 3 and fell seal: arbiter's mark at the moment. this is going to be next on my docket. do we have a release date for the switch already? does it have more than 3 characters?

Hopefully, there are the captured bearded guys around the map and you can save them and they reward you with special weapon ammo. But it just want to play KOF Leona and cut everyone down with her cross chops.

If Roguelike is what you seem to be saying it is, then I - without knowing much - totally don't mind it, especially if it leaves to being able to do more runs in the future, even more so if the paths diverge or vary and you can choose different ones. Different unlocks and things to buy in the shop on top of that? Considering all this, I think I prefer this more than these more of a "set in stone" games, like replaying say a Final Fantasy X. You can have some variance there but overall not much changes each run, definitely not the locations, haha.

Looks good, but I am getting a little tired of strategy games only having 3 units per map. I know it's easier to base strategy around, but it feels a bit too limited, coming from someone who thinks even 6 units is too limited.

5:38 Other Characters than these 4? Do we know them? Could the unlockable Characters be old side Characters from prevoius Metal Slug Games? I only played Metal Slug 3. Edit: I searched a little bit. Potencially 2 characters to unlock are Trevor & Nadia from Metal Slug 4.

Different genre despite the name tactics on it. It is more like Into the breach, there is no statmaxxing or powerleveling here

No, Into the Breach was annoyingly over tuned at times. There are also multiple difficulty levels that should be present in the main game, compared to the two that were in the demo.

It's interesting that you compare this to Into The Breach when from what I see (had no chance to try the demo yet) the turn structure is very different, being a classic turn based instead of enemies moving and planning their attacks like ITB. A system like that would have been great in keeping with the arcade root of the original series: enemies will kill you with one bullet, but you can move around and dodge their attack or kill them before they get to shoot. This looks like a traditional turn based with only big attacks being telegraphed, and the health bars really take away from the OG Metal Slug feel. I hope it's just me being an obnoxious armchair gamedev and the game is tons of fun, but again without having tried it I'm feeling a big letdown.
