It's an opinion he's 100% entitled to, but saying it's constructive isn't true because there's no recommendation to improve or even pointing out where his faults were. It's like writing. Someone's thesis may lack the topic sentence, or correct structure, or may sound confusing. But if you don't say that, it's not constructive criticism. If you instead just say "The thesis is mediocre." You both sound like a dick due to the connotation of the word mediocre (I know it literally means average but words can still have different interpreted meanings) and have failed to give any meaningful criticism. Because where is someone supposed to go from that? The root of feedback or constructive criticism is to help someone improve by pointing out where they went wrong or how to do better and saying something is mediocre really does neither. It just tells them they did stuff wrong. Tho too his credit in a later comment he did say that maybe taking some more time before posting it would have helped the original person who posted it. I just think it's not crazy to believe most people interpret his opening statement as him being a dick

His initial comment gave the impression of a hater. Don't get me wrong, I have respect for the guy afterwards. But just saying something's "mediocre" with nothing else isn't really helpful (especially since the guy actually knows his stuff but decided to give a simple slag-off instead).

He was right in a way though. Hentai Guy asked how anyone could dislike the performance and Fanchen answered with the fact that its mediocre. Wether you agree its cause enough for a dislike doesnt matter since there are people out there hateful enough to do so.
