I’ve been sober free for 10 months the best decision I ever made. I’ve lost 45 pounds I look so much younger people keep asking me what am I doing? What diet am I on? I am a different person. I never want to drink again… Congratulations on your 100+ days beautiful.

Yes ! Love this for you! This is the exact same reason I stopped drinking. I’m 30 and feel great. Discipline definitely has been so much better. I’ve been working out eating clean and reading much more ❤ my anxiety has really gotten better as well. I felt possessed at times when I would drink. Letting go of alcohol has been the best decision I’ve ever made ❤

Good job! Glad to see you posting again. I have a hateful relationship with alcohol and don't consume it much (i might drink, rarely, on social occasions) mainly because my mother was a heavy alcoholic as I was growing up and it nearly broke our family. She was a single mother raising 4 children and it was extremely challenging for her. She gave up her daily alcohol consumption in order to save our family and she, and our family, is so much closer today because her love for us, her children.

Good job on your journey. I was an avid drinker for a decade and everything you mentioned I experienced. The longer you don't drink, the easier it becomes to shake off the urge. Keep up the great work.

Hi, Alexis! I’m older and I love following people of all ages, both the old and the elderly inspire. So, if it’s ok, I will continue to follow you! I especially love this post. I did a similar thing about 10 years ago, I wish I had done this earlier in life but that’s irrelevant at this point. You’re brilliant to have made this proactive decision. For me, I finally realized that I was drinking to deal with my depression and anxiety. One day, I had an epiphany that the drinking was a big part of the problem- I drank to erase the pain but all it did was magnify the pain. Like you, I didn’t stop thinking I wouldn’t ever drink again. For me, it was reevaluating my drinking habits and tempering my intake. I probably went a good 1/2 a year to nine months without drinking- it wasn’t intentional but more that I started to fall in love with the new me- the clear me, the focused me, the energized me! When I decided I might start partaking in alcohol I felt it was important for me to make a contract with myself so I decided to start out by making a few rules to start. I would not drink more than 2-3 days a week, I would not drink at home until I felt I had a good control over my consumption habits and I would limit my consumption to no more than 2 drinks per gathering. It wasn’t anywhere near as hard as I thought it would be, I found distractions helped so much. Now, I drink but it is so much controlled therefore the residual effects are bare minimum. Finally, I made a deal with myself that I wouldn’t not drink if I was struggling with sadness, because it would start a domino effect. Anyway, thanks for your maturity to address this much needed topic! You’re beautiful and you looks physically and emotionally healthy. Another reason I like your channel is that you live in Houston. I was raised in Port Lavaca, a small town south of Houston. I moved to Arizona in 1984 and never left. Lastly, I recently graduated from NP school and I did very well in the program, graduating in the top 3% of my class and this is my 2nd graduate degree. Unfortunately, I am having trouble passing the boards, I’ve never failed at anything like this and it has shaken me to the core. My program was 100% online except for the clinicals and the teaching left a bit to be desired- just tons and tons of reading. I think my problem is more related to anxiety; consequently, I just started seeing a therapist and am taking some propranolol for the anxiety- it is working. I wish I understood the process better when I was in the program but this too shall pass and I just keep praying and working to stay focused! Again, congratulations on living a life of purpose, I have always said that I am willing to share if I think it will help others to avoid my pain. I hope more watch this video and appreciate it’s worth. Btw, congratulations on the wedding, you’re a beautiful couple ❤ Pardon any typos, this is an emotional post.

Thank you so much for making this video. It’s super relatable! I took 60 days off back in 2020 and it was hard but definitely the best I ever felt. I also became way more spiritual, mentally healthy and disciplined. I swear alcohol just does something to your brain and makes you lazy even after it seems like the effects wear off. Like if you’re drinking once or twice a week it can create brain fog that lasts for a couple days. Every one should try at least taking a month or two off every year to see how much they can accomplish.

Yes the brain fog lasts way after the effects of alcohol wear off

It is good to hear this message from someone I can relate to. So many KZfaq videos on this topic are from males who were consuming massive amounts of alcohol daily and were really down and out. There was nothing that I could find about a professional female's perspective addressing light-to moderate weekend drinking that only was heavy occasionally.. Mindfulness is the key.. Good video.

I binge drink on the weekend heavily. I won’t drink during the week but like to socially drink. But I feel so horrible the next day. My anxiety is so so bad and I feel so funky! Glad I came across this video to walk along side on this journey!

I love that you made this video, bringing this topic over to another platform. I commented on your IG about doing 30 days after you posted about it last year. Im not a heavy drinker but I relate so much to your story. It’s hard to deny alcohol when in a group of friends even if they’re supportive. Did you let your friends know prior or when you’re already out and telling them you’re not drinking, or did you order a mock tail? Any tips would really help a girl out lol

I didn’t tell some of my friends directly but I spoke about it on my story so they were aware from there. Also It’s something I did every year so they weren’t surprised lol

Your story and reasons are so similar to mine! So happy to see it reflected here. I started off with just 30 days and now I’m at 9 months. I too will not give it an official title by saying “I don’t drink alcohol”, but I’ve been enjoying all of the alcohol-free lifestyle benefits you mentioned and I don’t intend on letting it go carelessly.

This Naked Mind is a great book about being sober or sober curious in a drinking society. It helps eliminate that feeling of missing out when not drinking when you’re out with friends who are.

Great info, these are some good reminders, part of increasing your mental clarity and boosting your drive, comes with quitting. Yes, there are many ways to quit, Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever is what worked for me, best shortcut I go’ogled that took days to make me dislike the juice 100%

Your video came up randomly.Attractive lady i must say. Best wishes from London England.i do the same as you mostly drink alcahol free beers now when i go out. But i don't say i cant have a drink when i fancy it,if you know you can have it if you want you dont miss it or worry, but if you say you can never have it ever, you will want it. I also have same mental pattern as you if drink, brings me depression, anxiety and low self esteem when under normal circumstances im very upbeat confident and positive.I think cause i exercise so much my endorphins are high then the drink will smash that.
