Getting by and where I live didn’t have a full season on tgif but I’m glad you included them. Teen Angel did have a full season but it barely had a theme song

@@jwilliams7554 While making this it became clear that what counts as a 'completed season' is kind of subjective. getting by and where i live had short seasons but as far as I can tell, they were completed seasons, especially considering both shows had more than one season. Teen angel was definitely canceled before finishing a season (even though it had roughly a full season's worth of episodes). In retrospect I probably should have just included all the shows even the canceled ones.

For those wondering about "Hi Honey, I'm Home!" I was unsure what to do with that show. Technically, the show completed 1 season - but that's because ABC didn't order any more than 6 episodes. And the show had a second season on a different network. While filming, I decided that it basically was canceled early and thus didn't fit my criteria.

I thought "Hi Honey, I'm Home" was a Nick at Nite show, not a TGIF show, ( I mean back when the show first aired) although I may be wrong it's been a long long time

The strange thing about hi honey I’m home is that it wasn’t promoted as apart of tgif, from what I remember there were no custom tgif bumpers or commercials. It was promoted as a regular abc sitcom on Fridays. Not sure what that was about.

So far it seems to me that a lot of the bangers incorporate actual lyrics about the show and have an emotional vibe that you can tell is going to connect with the vibes of the show.

It might feel that way because the one partial season had two distinct parts - the first part where Maureen McCormick’s character was around, and the second part where she left and we started seeing Steve’s grandpa instead. I could’ve sworn it was a longer show too, but it all was only seventeen episodes apparently.

@@T1J I feel I'm like 2 years older than you or something so I remember it being on more. You know Family Matters is a Perfect Strangers spinoff right? (The mom worked at the newspaper with Balki and cousin Larry) But yea season 3 of the Leftovers used that theme and it was so amazing it's gonna give me 10000% bias.

I empathize with your nostalgia ears, as I remember really liking Perfect Strangers as a kid - enough that I still quote: "And now we do the dance of joy!" - but I agree that the theme song was mid! I can remember a _lot_ of theme songs, but I could not have sung the Perfect Strangers tune if my life depended on it, and in fact, have already forgotten it again in the time it took me to type this!

The SIster Sister themes were both copied almost exactly by Smart Guy (kinda makes sense; it did star their brother). They even changed it up from a fun, cartoony dance number into a smooth, neo soul sound for the final season, just like Sister Sister.

I feel like for me there's a distinction between a good sitcom theme and good music. Like, the Dinosaurs theme or the original Boy Meets World themes aren't something would listen to on their own, but they do a really good job communicating what each show is.

Is The Hugley's theme supposed to sound exactly like My Prerogative, or did the writer do a bit of the ol' subconscious plagiarism on that one? Also, yeah, that one dude wrote, like, half the sitcom themes in the '90s. His work all kinda blends into one big megatheme in my head. It's a rare condition in this day and age The milkman the paper boy, evening TV Well days go byyyyyyyy The second time around. Something like that. 😐

Ok you just did me a solid because while making this video i was kinda losing my mind, because I had originally recorded a line saying how the hughley's theme was a cover but i went to look up what it was a cover of, and could not find a song. so i was like, I guess this is just an original song and i just remember it from this show. But my prerogative is definitely what i was thinking of. And there's no way that's not intentional lol

Just starting this, and I'm hoping Perfect Strangers is high up there, it's still a classic: You made some good points, but that show ran from 86-93, so I feel it really had to the perfect song for that time period. Great list though, I just now noticed how like 80% of shows had the same font for a lot of the credits!

I do feel like you missed on: Full House Perfect Strangers Dinosaurs The OG Boy Meets World theme These are all certified straight bangers, but also you need to find high fidelity recordings of them. Also, if you can find the full length releases, a not of these songs were cut to 30 or 60 seconds for TV, but there are full 3 to 5 minute versions complete with like instrumental breaks and saxophone or guitar solos that did not need to go that hard.

I REMEMBER ON OUR OWN. Like, I'd completely forgotten about it, but as soon as you started playing that opening clip, it was like "core memory unlocked." I might have watched a few full episode of the show, I was really bad at knowing when my favorite shows were on as a kid, but I definitely didn't follow it. And I guess nobody else really did? I don't know if this is, like, validating or anything, but yes, I do remember this show where the big brother to a bunch of kids had to pretend to be their female guardian.

When they showed Two of A Kind on the Disney Channel in the UK, they used Happy Together by The Turtles for the promos (the ending bit with the 'da da da daaa's) and I wonder if the show would've done better if they'd just used that as the theme

I love the show but the final The Boy Meets World theme always bugged. It was surf rock themed, but the show is set in Pennsylvania. When I think of surfing I don't think of Philly.

I love how all the top tier also have really good lyrics. Good choices I watched Two of A Kind because I’m the same age as the Olsen twins…I feel like the reason that song is bad is because that premiered in the late 90s and theme songs were on the way out then I don’t know what the rest of the trash tier’s excuse is 🤣

Oh my god, I’m so psyched to watch that good place episode on nebula!!! I have twin nine year old boys who have only wanted the good place on 24/7 for the past few months 😆 which-we’re all autistic-and for me… it’s a god thing tbh 🤣 and this is actually the second time this has happened, they also were stuck on the good place for a few months between she-ra and carebears: unlock the magic when they were six… anyway, the theme song does get pretty eerie at some point 😅

I didn't get to watch a lot TV growing up, could never afford cable, and my schedule made consistently watching a broadcast show tough to do. Having said that, although I've got some fond memories of seeing those shows, I've now realized that I don't miss the intro music at all! That 80's/90's jingle had its time and I'm OK with them not bringing it back. 🙂

Had to walk away for a minute when you put the Perfect Strangers theme as Mid. I literally had that theme song as my default "Power Song" on my old ipod which you could activate during a workout when you needed an extra adrenaline boost.
