There are several reasons for the blue light is saltwater aquariums. It mimics the lighting spectrum that corals use for photosynthesis, it helps to keep algae down since algae don't use the same light frequencies, and it helps to make coral colors pop more.

The blue led / actinic light over coral tanks usually just give coral a nice pop when taking pictures, (some are fluorescent) though when I had a salt water tank I ran both white and blue lights to get the best of both worlds. Sometimes running the blue on very low at night. Sadly I lost the entire system when I lost power for a few days in a hurricane.

Hi! I was the tank with the 6 pencilfish, 6 black neons, 2 gbr etc.. the tank looks smaller than it is! The tank is taller than it is long so the perspective is weird. I dont understand the detritus too, but it started when i added the peace lily to the top, so it is problably becouse i couldnt clean the roots correctly. Also i didnt plan on having the 6 ottocynclus becouse they were rescues. I do do enough maintainance to never have amonia problems (never had any). The two cardinal tetras are the last two who are still alive from when i had a school of them (before i got the black neons) but i couldnt not let them be happy in the tank they were always in. Anyway thanks for rating my tank! Im happy with a 6, tbh i would also give it a 6, its my first tank! So next time i do a new tank i will know what to do and what not!

Ok, for AVNJ and everyone else deathly afraid of air bubbles in aquarium substrate, it's probably just co2. If it's a deep substrate tank with heavy nitrate ferilizer, it could be ammonia, but even then your autotrophic bacteria will likely absorb and oxidize the little bits that diffuse up through the substrate, provided the plants don't absorb it first. That's why if you're going to go through the trouble of a dirted tank, it should be heavily planted.

Simple answer for the deep blue light on saltwater tanks: it's because a lot of saltwater fauna actually glows ever so slightly under that lighting, it's an easy way to make any saltwater aquarium 'pop' in comparison to freshwater.

You can buy leafs for tannins for tanks. Some fish, snails, and shrimp will eat decaying leafs, especially good for shrimp

13:40 he needs to see some of ant Canadas tanks. he typically uses shrimp with a species of fish I can't remember but it's pretty species and native where he lives (the Philippines now). he has a couple like this, since well they the coolest, and they typically have purpose one time defense of a species of ants, another as population control and cleaning up dead ants (cause the ants will throw dead ants into bodies of water).

The bubbles in the substrate in that red tank are probably co2 or methane, not ammonia. Co2 and methane are byproducts of bacteria breaking down organic matter in the substrate, and that looks like a dirted tank.

They don't really make special leaves. They just collect them and boil them to sell to you at effectively total profit. Just find some leaves you like and boil them for a bit, and they'll be great.

None of my tanks were built with "how well can you watch the fish" in mind. They were built with "What will make the fish the happiest" in mind. I prefer others who build tanks like that too, with lots of hiding spots and places to go. Also, yes lots of us use real leaves and yes they decay. No we don't take them out when they do. If you have a deep substrate, they become food for my plants eventually.

The shrimp at 11:36 is a Gabon shrimp or vampire shrimp - beautiful peaceful babies that if you look up their compatibility with crayfish google tells you will become a tasty snack they are my favorite shrimp I had one called pinku and another one named gunner may they rest in peace
