Well that didn't go as planned. Today I tried to fix my front bumper's paint with Dr. Colorchip and I failed in epic fashion. I hope you all learn from my mistake. The good news is that this is all reversible!

All you needed to do was to use more sealact. Wet the area well, wait 2 minutes and start scrubbing. I did a complete hood, roof and trunk. It looked like that, but then you need some elbow grease. Also, work in a small area at a time, and wait for the paint to dry maybe for 2 minutes.

The title of this video is an insult to Dr. Color Chip because of your failure to use it correctly. The message tells the viewer the product doesn't work which is wrong. Given the misleading title I wonder if any of your other videos are worth viewing? It's easy to make incorrect statements without recourse.

All you had to do was go over it again with acetone (sealact) Then water on a cloth. Finally buff it with cutting polish - the wax form.

I've used this on multiple vehicles and it never looked anything like that. Most of that looks like operator error, part of it is there is way too much damage to that bumper. In case you are inspired to try, you can't use it to repaint a car either...

Early on in the video I was thinking to myself, "What's the bloody point in repairing ANY of this if the remaining paint is still going to be utter garbage and bound to get even more chips??

Combination of too much paint applied and need to use more of the white solvent to remove extra paint. Then buff with microfiber cloth and Griots Speedshine.

My SR had a similar paint job done by the original owner when the car was in an accident in 2008. My front bumper and hood are completely covered by rock chips and just recently clear coat on the hood had been peeling off in chunks bigger than my thumb. The clear coat peeling spreads every day, like the clear never adhered to the paint. Cheap paint jobs suck. I really want to try to get my hands in some Sikkens products to respray my hood, bumper, and fenders and do it myself so I know the car is getting more than one single layer of paint and clear. The paint in the hood is so thin it has been chipped all the way down to metal.

Whenever you got the bumper resprayed, it would have been a good idea to get a clear bra (PPF) put on it to protect it after.

Tailgating is the reason for those rock chips on the front bumper. I have a 2012 with no front end chips.

I guess I'll just keep my rock chips. My whole front bumper is pitted up and the hood, wipers, and side view mirrors have chips. Already replaced the headlight lenses. My caR put on over 200k in New Mexico

sounds like doing a small area at a time to develop the technique and also not worry about all the contours at once.

Gregson you should just spring for a new bumper you can get one for under 1200 from the dealer or probably tasca and they are prepainted from the factory then you could just get it ceramic coated comes with the trims too!

Repainting the bumper is prob at least half the price of that option, plus it will also take half the time, it won’t be OEM paint though

That paint on your bumper is crap. Dr Color Chip doesn't do that to good paint.

I have to go back and look. The paint quality is very thin and, from what we did today trying to buff it off, is also very poor.

Dr colorchip has a method called shoe polishing. That's probably the way this should have been done.

u tried to cover the whole car at a time, u need to go slow 3 to 4 chips at a time .......go easy

Just DO NOT HAVE CUSTOM PAINT… otherwise I’d try another brand you can drive n color like at the same time… not literally. Color chip probably works for the stock paint from the assembly line…. But custom paint fugg no!!! HELL NOOOOOO DR CHIP YOUR AZZ BACK TO THE BANK AND PAY YOUR PAINTER TO COME OVER AND RESPRAY YOUR WHOLE CAR

Called patients.. This is a poor video for something that you didn’t want to spend time to do it right. Got to the point of knowing you did waaay to big of an area and stopped. Hope you corrected why you didn’t follow the instructions because I ain’t watching anymore.. seen plenty of other videos explains this fact.
