Thing is, other manufacturers saw the economy heading up and started releasing cars for enthusiasts again. Even Toyota who for many years only had the Corolla S which is just a body kit. Nissan sat on their thumbs and dug their heels into the crossover market while people, with cash in hand, were begging them to produce something for the enthusiasts. Remember the Nissan 510 concept cars that got so much hype? They were so close to getting green lit but instead they released a goddamn convertible hatchback! Meanwhile, Toyota, Subaru and Hyundai sold a bunch of their budget rwd coupes in the same market Nissan said wasn't viable anymore. I really hope the rumor that a base model 4cylnder Z is true. As long as a Manual transmission is offered, I wouldn't mind paying less for a cool car today with engine swap options for the future.

The front of 400Z Proto looks like 240Z/Fairlady Z but modernized with modern Z style and the rear looks like modernized 300ZX. And y'know what, I think they really does start to make their comeback. And yes, *400Z PROTO WAS CONFIRMED*

I think what made them successful in the 90’s/early 2000’s was exactly “having a fun car for every price level”. Bring back the S-chassis to compete with the BRZ, update the Z-chassis to compete with pony cars and the supra, and keep the R35 GTR as it’s just so iconic. Also, Nissans are starting to look better with the latest designs, but a lot of the models from the past decade where... ugly. Affordability certainly should be a part of their formula - but don’t let it be your only selling point because then everyone sees the brand as junk.

I think moving up the GT-R name to more of a supercar/hypercar class and then move the Z to the GT-R's class. The S-chassis would be facing against the BRZ/GT86 Also I used to be a GT-R fanboy here so don't flame me yet but personally a slightly affordable mid engined GT-R is a good idea. There seems to be a market for something like the C8 Corvette going on

Instead of yet another 50K car no one can afford, I'd rather see a small, lightweight car with about 250 hp for about 22-25K (more in the vein of the 240).

Here’s an idea for Nissan get rid of everything and do this. Rename your self Datsun and stick to the line up bread and butter 2 sedans ( remodel them to also be hatchbacks) 2 coupe s , one with big power (z line) and one entry level (Silvia ?) 1 cuv hybrid 1 suv 1 work truck 1 super car Offer nismo versions for everything, do like Hyundai and develop a reliable engine and shove it in every model (1.6t gdi) That’s it , leave infinity to be the luxury version of the models and keep Datsun as the sporty , young , enthusiast minded brand

I'm here on the ground in Japan with a new e-power note and I'll say there's not much they can do to compete in a lot of areas. The electric drive train is probably the one area they have a slight advantage. I'd love to see a new 400z but I think they should put more into their gasoline powered electrics. Perhaps a competitor to the Honda Civic. Something that can switch modes from economical to sports mode easily. It would just sell more.

No kidding. A better warranty like 10 yrs on drive train would be nice. I'd put them with Mitsubishi. Both are decent car companies in general but overall nothing I'd buy at their price points. The GTR is overpriced junk that should be marketed around 85g.

Well James if you're interested I'm coming up with the design for a 240 I just haven't decided if I want it to be a 4-cylinder a 6 cylinder or an 8-cylinder but all I know is it's going to be twin turbo with a internal roll cage 6 speed manual transmission all wheel disc brakes and dual coilover suspension in the rear so a total of 6 coilovers 3 for each side of the car biggest issue for me is just getting my hands on a welder so that way I can make the tube frame chassis

Ever since I needed to replace my original owner 1998 240SX SE, there was NOTHING else out there offered by Nissan in an FR platform WITH a rear seat, priced below $30k. Because of that I've owned a Civic Si, scion FRS, and now a 2019 Mustang GT. I had planned to remain loyal to Nissan, but THEY failed me!!!! NISSAN owes me a proper FR car, which I can "live in." ~ex jdm R31 Skyline owner

I think what might have been happening is that after Ghosn and Renault saved the Nissan and profits bounced back and things were looking up, the Japanese started to quietly sabotage the Renault orders because the things were not done their way. And that might have led to crappy Nissan car lineup.

I have actually seen one of the GR Yaris prototypes... sadly the interior was blocked due to not beeing the final version but the outside of the car and probably the drivetrain beeing the same. It looks like a better attempt at the Volkswagen UP! GTI. I instantly saw it as a new AE86, small quick fun!
