I Shot PRORES RAW on the Panasonic GH6

I wanted to test out how the Panasonic GH6 does when it came to shooting in Prores RAW. To do this you will need an Atomos Ninja V or V+ and SSDs. I use the ones from Angelbird.

Prores RAW on GH6 is great. Angelbird is the way to go since they fit the Atomos without hanging off it. Another pro about the Angelbird is that it has 'Secure Erase'. This keeps skipping down to a minimum. Skipping on the Atomos is awful without that combination. Files constantly restart. I would suggest to viewers to not buy a normal SATA 2.5" SSD but go with the Angelbird. My experience. Great footage!

Can you suggest a commpatible external battery for the GH6?. Do you know if PANASONIC proviies a list of such batteriis? Thank you very much

Did you shoot footage at ISO 2000 and higher? If so, what was the noise level? I'm asking because I find my copy of the GH6 more noisier in Prores RAW than what I'm used to fomr the BMPCC (in BRAW) and the Z-Cam (also in Prores RAW)...

prores or prores raw? I am shoothing in prores at 2000 with dual iso without noise, clean image, also in raw you will have to use EV +1.2 or +1.4 if you are using LOG, but raw with natural profile is amazing on the GH6 in all the situations

Hi there, =) i ddint actually shoe it =), you need to have the 2.0 firmware first, then you go to the HDMI settings and choose raw over hdmi, its quite easy =)

External microphone panasonic DMW-MS 2, when recording quiet frames, the GH6 can be heard working, when I detach the microphone and hold it in my hand, it is not heard. rad gh6 - vibrations are transmitted through the microphone to the tone.

newbie here. I don't understand, why can't you shoot in raw in the camera you really need a external monitor just to do it? I just want to get the best possible video quality that gets me the most to work with in my editing software. I work with the gh6 and S5 mark ii primarily.

If I set my GH6 to 5.7k Prores 422 HQ, I can record it straight to my AV PRO SE CFexpress B (1785 MB/s) Memory card. Is there any difference to the file recorded on the Atomos?

With ProRes Raw you can make more adjustments to color temp and overall color than you can with the highest ProRes setting. HQ is still only 10 bit - RAW is 12-bit. It is not any sharper, just more headroom.

Why they constantly force people to use external hw for recording raw footage even on modern cameras, the camera for sure would be able to do it internally.
