Met Ice cube at an airport one time. Texted my wife and told her. She said i had to get a pic of the mean mug. I went up to him and asked if he would do it for a pic. He was really nice and friendly and did the mean scowl. Got a new mega fan that day!

He did exactly that when a Australian promoter of Arab background had connection to bring Cube over to Australia &took him to the local hood in south west Sydney Australia's version of LA's home of the drive bys ,drug dealers & Armed robbers ,the brother of the promoter had recently been shot &ended up paralysed so Cube visited obviously the promoter had asked also related what happen. While inside a few local OG's come flying through the back door carrying a safe & double barrel Shottys while proceeding to try & crack this safe as they look towards the living room they see Cube &his entourage They where fans of Cube like everyone growing up in hoods but Cube respectfully got up &had to leave saying he aint about to end up in a Australian on Robbery so he practice what he preaches on& got up outta there. I got a personal Ice -T story ill relate if he ever comes on when he visited Sydney's Bankstown square shopping centre which it was called in the 90's ,he was doing promo signing gear & posters I got a $100 Australian bill signed by him the old paper grey ones .

Every GENX can relate to this video. Thank you PAT for this podcast! You made my day. I don’t talk politics & I’ve gone through my own good&bad in life. After pac died changed my life & what I was doing at that time and I never looked back. No I’m no celebrity by any means but I changed my life around and became a truck driver at the age of 21. I’ve been a very successful businessman ever since. I retired 3yrs ago but I still sometimes look back at how this journey called life happened the way that it did. I’m older now and 99% of all my peers & friends that helped with my journey in life have already passed away but I’ll never forget the “who/why/how” they impacted me in my life some way or another. I should of died 3 different times throughout my life so god had a purpose for me & I’ll never slow down until it’s my time to venture the next chapter in the after life!

@truckerj8717 He died and you all of a sudden decided to "grow up" at 21Y.O. because some celebrity that gave absolutely no shite about you-me or billions of other people passed on? They are/were supposed to be some of the best years of your life.... You become a successful adult in the trucking industry and lead a great life. So what was so all-inspiring that your learned and made you I assume?? Quit whatever stuffs you were doing and transform your life? Serious questions here? I know very much about him. Why people love him etc. But I don't see/understand it truthfully. He was talented in writing/lyrics(rapping) sure. He's inspiring to many in the industry, young men/women in similar situations/race, abuse, etc.

Mostly indigenous kids that we consider family 40 years later. Without Cube and hip hop, Some of us wouldn't have made it. We relate to FRIDAY AND HIPHOP. And sometimes unfortunately boys in tha hood. Essentially its about the fact wa can relate, self expression and working to make sure we have a different choice. Cube and Tupac era was ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to my journey. And im definitely not the only one. I was 11 when i watched Boys in tha hood. Friday again is relateable and brought so much joy to all of us. My all time favourite movie. AND DEFINITELY hiphop requires balance....thank you Mr Cube. We all needed your work

It’s not the hip hop industry alone, it’s the whole culture surrounding it. Hip hop came from what was already happening. Even before rap people were doing a lot of the same things. I agree that the music is a problem but it’s not the only problem and we have to bring light to all of them if the community has any chance of doing better.!

To PBD's point the main problem with hip hop is that whatever you repeat and glorify more people will do, and alot of the lyrics glorify negative behaviors that we see acted out in real time. I'd add that for many of the problems within black culture today that while the music didn't create the problems initially, a lot of the lyrics the most popular rappers create reinforces a set of principles that propagates those issues to the next generation. Hip hop is also how many people outside of the black community initially engage with black culture, and so the music propagates the stereotypes that so many people claim they want to see gone.

Cube seems like a nice gent! And he’s a big fan of PBD so he is on our side, whether or not he can say that publicly is another matter, but he is clearly on the same team. And this was obviously recorded a while back, but given recent events I would love a proper emergency podcast about Trump though now we know more info.

This was excellent. It’s been interesting following his evolution. He’s a serious minded man. You don’t have a long, successful marriage and business without being one. He’s prudent. Thinks without shooting off his mouth. I saw “Boyz in the Hood” when it came out. John Singleton was just a kid. It’s not my genre, but it was a powerful, sobering film. I’ve been watching everything about assassination attempt since it happened. Will watch more. This was a nice break. I saw a video of Tupac Shakur on Not the Bee when he was young. He seemed kind of like a young, sweet, probably gay, theater kid. Not some gangster. Sad where he ended up. He’s right, though. We have a certain number of days and hours. I’m a SoCal native. Now long gone. It’s sad what it’s become.

What cube said about hip hop bringing people together is both accurate, and inaccurate af. People of all walks love hip hop, but there are groups of people that think that it belongs to 1 race and everyone else should stay away. Gate keepers are everywhere.
