If you liked the video and you want to see MORE Rachel, please consider liking and subscribing! That would be HUUUUUGE!
I realized while editing that I did not have safety glasses on Rachel. This wasn't intentional and it was an oversight. I was more concerned with the safe operation of the machines, and that she was using the correct techniques. I was cognizant of loose clothing and long hair, but ALWAYS remember to protect your eyes.

Just found the channel (shoutout to Lincoln St) and really like the content. This is my favorite video of yours so far. Also, you should make a video all about teaching Rachel the table saw.

@@ScottWalshWoodworking - I think it’s an advantage I don’t need glasses yet at (shall we say) a more _advanced_ age than you. Donning the safety glasses is part of the flow that I don’t think will leave me even after I start to wear glasses all the time in a few years. That transition is an attitude shift that is important, and probably not as easy to standardize without the ritual.

For some guys, having their SO in the shop would be a dream come true. Others, it would be a nightmare. She has good camera presence, and is able to handle the tools a bit.. maybe she could do a segment of her own on women in woodworking, doing fairly straightforward projects and craftlike theings that would appeal to artists (more nontechnical projects) - like the pic frames you just did. I would not have bothered to tell her she could have bought the frames.. these were far superior quality! So, get her involved in some simple projects - small garden things, birdhouses maybe, and even a scrapbook cover made of wood and router engraved could be interesting to all. Just my .01 worth.. great video!

I'm with her -- the table saw is scary. Been using one for years, and it's still terrifying. Almost as scary as the circular saw. If there's one thing scarier than a large round (very) sharp blade, spinning very fast, it's one of those, but you're holding it in your hand.

Again, not my account here but I enjoy your videos. First off Rachel, it's machines that are boring besides being loud and messy. Second, Scott, why do you waste so much glue? Interested in doing another test? Get something like Ritz dye and mix it with some glue. Not much is needed. Take some 2 by 2 pieces of various woods you use and put the glue on end grain and straight grain on the wood pieces. Let dry and then cut the pieces in half along the endgrain to see how much actually gets absorbed by the wood. This will show you just how much glue is actually used. You can also test how much sanding or chiseling is needed. Leaving some grain\fiber tooth improves gluing without degrading the aesthtic value of the joint. Much more to all of this but this should get you thinking. Remember, wood is not a material. It is not consistent, consistent or uniform which defines a material. Wood is a mastic composite and all that that implies. By the way, Merry Christmas to you and Rachel.
